t's pretty dark and miserable down in the well. The cavernous area feels much larger than a well should be, bodies milling about in the darkness and knee deep, frigid water. So you're here -- and you're not alone, and the only way out appears to be the thin circle of sunlight from above, the opening of the well. (And elsewhere, in the Town, everyone's waking up to gifts of various usefulness, but hopefully they remember to check the well today even so!) What now? Welcome to Awash's tenth event log, and the intro log for this month, everyone! All new characters have found themselves waking in the well in the middle of the Town. [ Oh what the hell. Jion startles awake with a truncated yelp when he's suddenly made aware of just how cold it is. And dark. And damp. Is this a well?

And also, he's pretty sure he doesn't remember falling asleep. Or did he? Maybe he fell asleep and his squadmates dumped him in here as a joke? That feels uncharacteristically mean, but it's not impossible. Still trying to come to his bearings, he stumbles to his feet and sloshes around a few steps, shouting up at that little circle of light, ]

Not funny, you guys!

[ And then bumps right into another person! Congratulations, lucky stranger, you have 200-something pounds of wet, squishy person stumbling heavily into you. Hopefully he hasn't managed to take you off your feet. ]

ii. this isn't kansas etc.

[ Well (haha), at least he's on dry land now, even if his clothes (and medkit and holster) are still a little damp. Which means it's time to figure out what the hell is going on here.

So Jion schlebs around, squinting at the various sights around him, periodically stopping to scratch his head. He's pretty sure he's got the area around their base memorized, and this really doesn't look like Armenia.

The first sign of movement from another person has him turning and giving a wave. ] Hey! [ And then jogging over without even waiting for a response. He looks obviously military. ] Sorry, mind if I ask you a quick question?

[ It will probably not be quick. ]

iii. sneaky sneaky

[ Later in the week, Jion can be found peering into the edge of the woods. He kind of looks like he's trying to be sneaky about it ... but pretty badly. He's not really built for stealth after all, and his boots aren't great for avoiding the foliage underfoot. Basically every step he takes is crunchy with leaves.

He gives a small start if he sees anyone approaching, turning quickly to face them, before giving a supremely awkward laugh. ]

Uh -- hey! Nice weather for a walk, huh? Yeah ...

[ Totally open to anything else! ]

[Val is strong enough that this person bumping into him doesn't displace him in the slightest. Even though he looks like a stick of a person.

He looks around for who this guy might be talking to, but draws a blank.]

Who are you talking to?

[ Why is there another person -- multiple persons -- in here. Did someone else also get pranked? Jion quickly rights himself, still trying to paw his damp hair out of his face. ]

Shit, sorry about that. I mean -- you know, I just figured the guys dumped us in here as a prank or something, so they'd still be up there ...

[ And then, as he squints at this stranger, he's very quickly realizing that the other people in here aren't his squadmates. ]

-- wait, who are you?

[ He's not normally this rude, promise. ]

[ quick or not, dave doesn't particularly mind. he pauses, today decked out in his skinny jeans and record t-shirt, looking obviously teenaged.

he also seems to be calm and know where he is and what he's doing, though. ]

Yeah, sure. What's up?

[ Man, he always feels a little awkward talking to civilians. Jion tries a little too hard to hold himself casually, which just makes him look more uncertain. ]

Uh, you sorta know you look like what's going on here! With, um, all this. [ A vague wave of the hand to indicate 'all this,' meaning everything. ] This ... isn't anywhere near Vanadzor, is it?

[ On one hand: what an intimidatingly huge person.

On the other: what an endearingly awkward greeting.

Fingers splayed and eyes narrowed fondly, Momo gives Jion a two-handed wave from a few yards away, where he's kicking around a ball fashioned out of a rolled-up jacket. ]

Mmhmm! Are you headed anywhere?

Um. Well, no, not exactly?

[ Jion looks a little flustered, absently rubbing a hand over his jaw as he glances back at the forest. He can't tell if it's an area that's supposed to be out-of-bounds or not ... and besides, just going in there isn't even his main goal. ]

Hey, uh. [ It's a little abrupt when he looks back to Momo, pointing into the forest. ] Do you think there's wolves or anything in there?

Sure, I don't mind.

[Guren looks pretty obviously military, himself. He's in full uniform, ornamented in the way that says he's a higher rank, and he's got a katana at his side. It's always interesting to see someone else show up looking like they came from a similar situation, so he gives Jion a once-over, then tilts his head slightly.]

I'm trying to help new arrivals like you. [He's got the people here memorized, if Jion running up to him for a question wasn't enough.] Ask whatever you want.

[organfarm]

[ Is that a sword. He doesn't recognize where the uniform is from, but it's obviously a uniform. What kind of unit just carries around swords like that? Maybe this guy's part of some sort of ceremonial guard? Jion stares unsubtly for a moment before realizing there's more important matters at hand. ]

Um, well. [ He automatically stands up straighter, like he does around his superiors. ] I ... don't even know where to start, to be honest, but. I guess this is a regular occurrence, then? People ending up here?

[ it's a lovely morning and giorno has decided he'll sleep in today, because he did a lot of hard work the past couple of days. he deserved a good sleep, he's been good.

so giorno remains in bed for a while until he hears the sound of a door opening, and he frowns. who the fuck enters someone's house without their permission, is he being robbed? him being the only criminal here? really?? that's stupid.

but he remains in bed because he doubts there's anything downstairs anyway, and maybe it's just an errant invisible sheep from the forest making its way to his house. who knows. he's not worried.

so he gets out after a half an hour or so with the kind of bravado only men who don't have roommates, at all, possess. giorno heads off to the kitchen for a nice start, unruly hair and boxers and all. ]

[ Awesome, he gets a place to stay. Not that Jion needs it -- he's pretty sure he could sleep just about anywhere. But still. A place to stay! With a roof! And maybe even a bed! He hasn't slept in a bed in a while. It might be great. Jion's obviously a little excited when he reaches his assigned unit.

Enough that it doesn't even occur to him that this isn't necessarily an assignment for a single room, and he's eagerly poking around at his new accomodations when he suddenly realizes he's not alone. ]

-- woah!

[ He turns around, startled, and his wet socks almost slip out from beneath him from the sudden movement. At least he catches himself against a wall before hitting the floor, and Jion looks at Giorno from that awkward position. ] I'm, uh, supposed to be here! I got assigned here.

Oh, hey--

[... Well, this poor guy looks a little damp, which is why Minato just tilts his head a little, tucking his hands into his pockets (he's already given away the last towel he was carrying around, they don't really grow on trees).]

... I'm happy to answer what I can, but do you want a towel? We'll have to walk a bit, but I have a few more I think.

[organfarm]

[ A towel! Jion brightens up visibly at the offer. ]

Oh man, I'd be really grateful if you could lend me a towel. Only if it's not too much trouble, though. Kinda looks like things around here are hectic enough as is, so ...

[ His words peter off with a really awkward laugh, because he's well aware he's contributing to the hectic atmosphere himself. ]

[She put her hands on her hips and has to press her lips together to not laugh at him.]

Just a walk? Are you sure that's all you're doing, mister? Because you're acting pretty suspicious.

I'm not doing anything suspicious!

[ He says, way too quickly, like all innocent people do. Except he really isn't planning on doing suspicious. Yet. ]

I just, uh, was wondering. What's the deal. With all that.

[ He waves his hand vaguely in the direction of 'all that,' meaning the forest. ]

iii, Sept 12

[Tonbokiri isn't much for stealth himself, especially when on a large black horse. Having just finished his regular patrol, he is outfitted in his armour with his spear comfortably held in his left hand and... perhaps makes an imposing sight.

Seeing the person so obviously being curious about the forest, he rides closer. And can't help but smile a little at the man's greeting.]

Yes, it is. It feels like it will be summer for a little while longer.
If you were thinking of taking a walk in the forest, however, I must advise against it. However, there are some very nice paths in the Flavo district.

[ Sorry Tonbo, he's not listening to a word you're saying, because oh my god a horse and also armor and a spear?! What the hell, that's so cool!

Jion stares in abject fascination for a moment, almost frozen in awe, before realizing he's being kinda rude. ]

-- uh, yeah! Right! Gotcha. [ He has no idea what he just agreed to. ] Sorry, I -- man, you totally caught me off-guard. Is all that real? The spear and the armor? They look so neat ... Can I come closer? Is your horse gonna be okay with that?

[ He's never actually seen a horse in person before, and he really wants to ask if he can pet it, but horses can get skittish around strangers, right. ]

( It looks like a lot of people are coming out of the well today which means it's really time to start running around and helping where ever he can. It isn't much but he's managed to find some towels that he can probably pass out. And it's in the middle of his running around that he's suddenly stopped by someone who looks like they might need one, )

Yeah? ( He doesn't seem to mind, especially since he even comes over to meet him, ) Just one?

( A single question? )

[ That promptly stops him in his tracks. ]

Uh. [ He technically did say 'a quick question'. ] Yyyyyyesbut. Well. I mean ...

[ Now he feels kinda bad about waffling. What if this guy's busy and can only answer one question? An awkward pause before Jion raising his fingers. ] Maybe two?

[Shouto actually was on a walk and he definitely knows better than to walk himself into the forest. It always seems to be a different thing in there. Especially when it's not a quest related stroll.

So he sounds skeptical.]

Into the forest? Alone?

Y -- no.

[ Yes. He was kinda considering venturing in there, but now he gets the feeling that he shouldn't? ]

Is ... it that bad of an idea?

[ Sorry for waki senses bro. But, when new people are coming in, someone's gotta check if any wander off into places that aren't newbie friendly. It's either a growing sense of feeling responsible for the populace, or curiosity toward the curious people.

He tilts his head and with his near perpetual lineface, how bad that attempt to cover up his intention gets brushed off nicely. ]

The weather is nice, yes. Autumn will come soon if this place follows seasons normally.

[ Honebami hasn't been here long enough to know, it was pretty hot when he first ended up on Chroma. But as of now it's been cloudy and windy with some sunshine, so it feels like the weather is mellowing out nicely. ]

You should be careful if you want to go into the forest alone.

[ --Jion is still bad at sneaking. ]

[ Jion looks guilty as he blurts out, ]

I wasn't!

[ He was only considering it, so this technically isn't a lie, okay.

Still, Honebami looks like he knows what he's talking about, so Jion assumes he has a point. He rubs a hand at his face, looking a touch flustered as he glances away. ]

Guess it's good to know this place has seasons, though. But I hope I outta here before then ... I'm gonna get in so much trouble if I'm missing for month, my commander's gonna have me run laps until I drop dead.

[He's maybe getting used to new people showing up and wandering around. He figures they all have a lot of questions, and it's for that reason that John stops walking to let Jion catch up even as he grins a little.]

Yeah, sure. Hopefully I can answer it.

Thanks, I really appreciate it. There's so much going on here that it's kinda ...

[ Jion lets his words trail off with an awkward laugh because he's not sure how to finish that sentence. Well, that aside, his question. ]

Uh, anyway. I know it's kinda a long shot, but by any chance is there, like, a hospital anywhere near here? Or any place with those kinda facilities or supplies.

[ He sounds like he has specific things he's looking for. ]
