Event Ten.

Pushed his sister in a well. Mother said, while drawing water, "My, it's hard to raise a daughter." | |
Welcome to Awash's tenth event log, and the intro log for this month, everyone! All new characters have found themselves waking in the well in the middle of the Town. Hopefully they can get a hand out! For more information, please go here! |

Alright. Then, um.
[ Another pause before he ventures a little more meekly, ]
How do we leave?
[ He sounds nervous because he can sort of sense what the answer's going to be. And he's not sure he likes it. ]
no subject
[Yep. There's a sigh that comes with it, like he's frustrated, but it's pointed at himself and this place and no one else.]
Don't have that answer yet. The forest is dangerous, the water isn't much better, and so we're stuck in this shit hole, bringing back color and trying to figure out a way back. It must be connected with that well, somehow, but...
That's all I've got.
no subject
Oh. Got it.
[ He only mopes for a moment before trying to perk up, though. ]
Sorry -- I guess I shouldn't look so down when I just got here, and people have been here longer. [ A slightly watery laugh as he rubs at the back of his neck. ] I was thinking about how much trouble I was gonna get in when my commander finds out I'm gone, but that's not the biggest priority right now, huh.
[ A small nod to himself to try and keep his spirits up, before he looks back to Guren. ]
I guess you've been here a while, then? Since you seem to know what's going on?
no subject
[He crosses his arms.] Anyway, you don't have to apologize. No one expects to be pulled out of their home and thrown into a completely different universe. Everything's different here, for everyone, and everyone has things they have to return home to.
I think your commander would have to give you an exception on this one. [He holds out his hand for a shake.] Guren Ichinose, by the way. What's your name? You're military, then?
no subject
Guess I'll just have to hope he lets me off the hook, huh? [ Still, for now, it would be best to try and adapt. Jion eagerly accepts the offered hand and gives it a firm shake; despite his bulk, Jion's hands are soft and unscarred. ]
It's good to meet you, uh, sir. [ He actually has no idea if Guren is ranked above him, but he sounds so on top of things that Jion wants to assume that's the case. ] Specialist Haru of the United States Army. Most people just call me Jion, though.
no subject
[He answers it right back, just for reference. Yeah. Guren's the type of person to notice those soft hands, too, but he won't question it. There are a number of reasons they could be.]
And no, it's not an army of demons. [He has to say this every time, so he just starts with it, now.]
There are a number of ways to settle in here, as much as you can "settle" in a place like this. It's good to find your assigned house and laptop and make yourself comfortable with the forums, at least. Has anyone gone over any of that with you?
no subject
But he's sure not going to question a superior officer, so he just shakes his head. ]
Um, no. I pretty much just got out of the well. [ A curious cant of the head. ] ... forums? As in internet forums? There's internet here?
no subject
[He's not even going to offer an explanation right now, he's so mean... Maybe later, Jion.] The laptops only work on this specific set of forums. It's just us, in this town, and that's it. They don't have chargers, but they can't be used outside of your house.
It's an easy way to discuss things as a group or contact others long distance, though.
no subject
[ A pause as he looks down at the gear he does have -- just his pistol and his basic medpack, unfortunately -- before looking back up. ]
Um, by the way, is there anything I should be doing? Once I'm settled in? I'm assuming people mostly cooperate on stuff, if we're all stuck here for a while.
no subject
[He sighs that out. ALAS... They're stuck in the age of old ass forums, but even worse. Still, this guy is really looking for direction, huh... Guren feels a little bad, but he can do as much as he can, at least.]
Yeah. I run a defense force here that encourages team work and getting to know one another, both in combat and outside of it, so we're more prepared for danger. But there's more than that.
There's a user hex code #FFFFFF that posts quests on the forum. We don't have a face to connect to it, but completing those quests seems to be helping to restore the color of this town, as well as earn yourself some rewards. That's one thing you can focus on.
no subject
Quests. Like ... videogames? [ Not that he plays too many, but he's watched other people play them. A curious tilt of the head. ] I guess that makes sense though, for why this place looks so weird. You guys must've been working hard. I'll try to remember to help out with those.
But um, can I ask for more information about the defense force?
[ Of course that's what he's most curious about. ]
no subject
[Like video games, he means, but he figures that's obvious. The defense force, though? Obviously he can help with that.]
Sure. There was a town meeting way back, shortly after we arrived, and people decided that they wanted a force organized whose goal was to keep the people in this town safe from the dangers that kept coming. Patrols, things like that. I was recommended, and so I volunteered to start it up.
Friendship and camaraderie is a large part of this place, so I encourage that most of all. On top of that, I try to help pair up people who can learn from one another. I used to do large groups, one for each district, but the group itself is too large for that now, so I split everyone off into smaller squads. We'll see how that goes.
We meet every couple of months to talk about things in the town and where to go from there, changes we should make with the force, and so on.
no subject
Patrols, cooperation, reports and meetings. It all sounds familiar, and he stands up straighter as Guren finishes. ]
Um, I'd like to help out with the defense force, then. [ Pause. ] Sir.
[ He almost immediately deflates a little bit, though. ]
Although to be honest, I'm, uh ... I'm not the best at fighting. But I can take a ton of hits, and I'm kinda used to that kinda work. Going into unfamiliar territory. So if it'd be useful, I'd like to help.
no subject
[He puts thought into these, so he wants to make sure it's a good fit.]
Either way, we could use all the help we can get. Thank you. My hex code is on the community board, so you can contact me once you find your laptop, and I'll give you your team.
