Little Willie, mean as hell, Pushed his sister in a well. Mother said, while drawing water, "My, it's hard to raise a daughter."

t's pretty dark and miserable down in the well. The cavernous area feels much larger than a well should be, bodies milling about in the darkness and knee deep, frigid water. So you're here -- and you're not alone, and the only way out appears to be the thin circle of sunlight from above, the opening of the well. (And elsewhere, in the Town, everyone's waking up to gifts of various usefulness, but hopefully they remember to check the well today even so!) What now? Welcome to Awash's tenth event log, and the intro log for this month, everyone! All new characters have found themselves waking in the well in the middle of the Town. ( It looks like a lot of people are coming out of the well today which means it's really time to start running around and helping where ever he can. It isn't much but he's managed to find some towels that he can probably pass out. And it's in the middle of his running around that he's suddenly stopped by someone who looks like they might need one, )

Yeah? ( He doesn't seem to mind, especially since he even comes over to meet him, ) Just one?

( A single question? )

[organfarm]

[ That promptly stops him in his tracks. ]

Uh. [ He technically did say 'a quick question'. ] Yyyyyyesbut. Well. I mean ...

[ Now he feels kinda bad about waffling. What if this guy's busy and can only answer one question? An awkward pause before Jion raising his fingers. ] Maybe two?

[tosa]

( Holding out his towel for him to take, )

Don't limit yourself. ( Huffs, ) If ya got questions to ask, ask 'em.

[organfarm]

[ Jion heaves an obvious sigh of relief at that as he takes the towel. ]

Yeah, thanks. Guess I just choked for a moment when you suddenly asked, thought you might've been real busy or something.

[ He absently pats the towel at the damp spots on his medpack as he thinks of his question. ]

So, like, are people who aren't human common here?

[tosa]

If I was too busy, I wouldn't be out and about!

( Which means... is he actually busy? Not in the sense he has things to do but he is the type that runs around a lot and seems to always be looking for something to do. And that sure is some question to ask a spirit. He wonders if this guy has any idea who he's talking to! (because you can never be to sure with these spirit sensing types running around) )

I'd say it's pretty common. A lot more common than some places, at least. ( Since some places seem to be used to having spirits running around all over. ) Are ya worried or something?

[organfarm]

Huh ...

[ Jion's expression is some combination of surprise, awe and consideration. 'Pretty common.' People who aren't fully human are pretty common here. It's kind of weird to think about. ]

Oh, no no! Not worried. [ It's just dawning on him that maybe this guy's not human too, and Jion quickly shakes his head. ] I was just wondering. 'Cause we have people who aren't fully human where I'm from, but I guess we're on the rare side. And it's so different from this place. So I was just surprised.

[ A thoughtful pause before he adds a little excitedly, ] -- I think it's really interesting.

[tosa]

( "Aren't fully human" and "I guess we're on the rare side" he says. Mutsu catches the word choice there and he tilts his head to the side. He doesn't seem at all bothered by the realization. Being honest and direct, he has to ask, )

What're you?

( He seems human enough but he knows you can't judge by appearances alone. )

[organfarm]

[ Geez, this guy goes straight for the jugular, huh. Jion looks weirdly embarrassed at that question, giving an awkward laugh. ]

Oh. Uh, well. [ It's not like he really minds saying what he is, but he usually skirts around this specific part. ] I'm mostly human, but I'm part worm. Flatworm.

[ His words are accompanied by a little wiggly motion of his fingers. ]

[tosa]

( Why waste time talking around the point when you can just get straight to it!!! That sure is something, though, and he isn't really sure what to make out of it. A flatworm? How's that different from any other worm? He's never seen a flat worm before.

Holding up his own hands, he mimics the same wiggly wobbly motion like that's some how going to help him understand but... hm.. )

... You're pretty tall for a worm. ( Yes. That's it. That's exactly what he's going to say. Well, he won't dwell on it too much! ) You'll fit in just fine here so don't worry. ( For now. ) What else d'ya wanna know, huh?

[organfarm]

[ He should probably clarify what being 'part worm' actually means, but then they're moving on from the subject. Mm, well. It's not like that information's immediately important, so he's happy to let it slide. ]

Well, I guess I'd be in a lot of trouble if I were actually worm-sized, so ...

[ An awkward laugh as he rubs at the scar on his face. ]

But um, what else ... oh. I guess I really shoulda asked this first, but how does food work around here? Hunting? Fishing? Foraging?

[tosa]

There's a garden you can help with if ya want. It's going pretty good... has a bunch of food with real taste!

( It's one of his favorite places in the town! It's probably his favorite until the sea regains color, actually. )

You can try hunting if ya want but all the animals here look real weird so I dunno... it's hard looking for things too without the color! But you can try if ya know what you're looking for.

[organfarm]

... oh. Oh, that makes sense. I hadn't thought of that, the weird colors making it hard to hunt.

[ He's never actually hunted before, which is probably growing very obvious by this point. ]

But I can help out in the garden! [ A small but very enthusiastic fistpump. ] I don't mind physical labor, and I wanna help out somehow!
