t's pretty dark and miserable down in the well. The cavernous area feels much larger than a well should be, bodies milling about in the darkness and knee deep, frigid water. So you're here -- and you're not alone, and the only way out appears to be the thin circle of sunlight from above, the opening of the well. (And elsewhere, in the Town, everyone's waking up to gifts of various usefulness, but hopefully they remember to check the well today even so!) What now? Welcome to Awash's tenth event log, and the intro log for this month, everyone! All new characters have found themselves waking in the well in the middle of the Town. [It's been a whole three days since tiny girls made a point of dragging him around. Such a familiar feeling. Or: he glances down at her, then back at the forest.]

[Oh, a shorty is here. Reim pauses before he's about to just walk into the woods, looking back at Guren with eyebrows raised. Ah-]

You? [Well......] Are you in charge?

[Tonbokiri keeps smiling, but he rubs at his cheek with one finger in slight embarassment.]

Ah, I suppose you're right. Children are usually taught to not speak with strangers, aren't they.

It's all right if you don't say anything, but I'd like to help you if I can. [He is silent for a beat, and then inspiration strikes.] Ah, if it helps, I'm a member of the Defence Force here. It's like the police. So, can you give me a chance to earn your trust?

Um. Well, no, not exactly?

[ Jion looks a little flustered, absently rubbing a hand over his jaw as he glances back at the forest. He can't tell if it's an area that's supposed to be out-of-bounds or not ... and besides, just going in there isn't even his main goal. ]

Hey, uh. [ It's a little abrupt when he looks back to Momo, pointing into the forest. ] Do you think there's wolves or anything in there?

Decency's overrated, anyway. [ dave doesn't seem to care, since 1) he's a dude anyway and 2) he's more interested in a different variety of person, specifically. his shades cover up any glances anyway, although he's mostly curiously verifying that he doesn't know this guy. must be a newbie. ]

We keep meanin' to put out like, brochures by the well but we haven't gotten to it yet. Welcome to Chroma, which is not anywhere in your universe. Probably?

[A CAT! A normal looking cat! Her eyes light up and she automatically goes to pet him and...oh. Her hand is still hovering over him, frozen.]

Oh. [She's not that surprised, after all, Momotarou can speak too even if only through telepathy.

She tilts her head a little and, okay, the claws give her pause but then she keeps reaching out, but changing the angle, not to pet the cat but to reach out to take his paw gingerly in her hand to shake it.]

Hi, my name is Kaoru Akashi! What's yours?

Yes. [Well, at least this kid isn't failing geography. But what he says about his brother makes him perk up a bit. This boy's brother knows about robots, so maybe he can also repair androids.]

We're all stuck here. I see. [That's difficult for him to believe, but he'll keep it in mind for now.] Your brother, is he a mechanic?

[What... is this bat. It's white? Why is it white. And why is it in the town, is the real question... Guren approaches it, glancing around like he's not sure if he should expect that someone else is here to claim it as a pet.

And then looking back at it again. Hm.]

What're you doing here? [And not in the forest? He'll talk to animals (aka to himself). He reaches to poke at her.]

[The claws stay out, but Mogget doesn't move a muscle, nor does he open his other eye; he just, you know, continues lying there like the lazy creature he is, enjoying that nice, warm sunlight.]

I do talk, and I did indeed come from the well. Two stunning observations.

[And he... yawns, because he's rude and hateful and Summer deserves a cooler cat friend.]

At least your "usual" offer is sensible. Did you bring a towel?

[ At first, she ignores the kid. She goes about her business, pretending as if the kid isn't even there, but she's been lurking behind the tree for a while and she's doing a terrible job at hiding.

She walks by the tree for the billionth time, this time turning her attention directly to the girl peeking out from behind it. ]

You know, there's a bush over there -- [ vague gesturing ] -- that might be better suited for spying.

[purrsuasively]

[Humans!! He watches her with his one eye, annoyed... and slightly amused, because seriously, he's never been called sweet in his life. Clearly the sight of a half-drowned animal hit her right in the heart, so after a moment's consideration he slowly lowers his paw. No scratches today!]

Of course I talk. Shall I sing, too? [A beat, and then, as he settles his chin back down on one paw:] If you bring me a fish, I might just consider it.

[He might.]

[Funnily enough, this is not the first time he's dealt with a robot. But this is the first time he's spoken to one that could speak back or initiate conversation. If they weren't in a well, he'd be more interested.

If Conner looks at him, he's clearly not human, with the red eyes, the elfish ears, and the too long fangs in his mouth.]

I am Valvatorez. [Because if they're going to be speaking, they should have each other's names.]

[ Prinny. What's a prinny? What does this guy instruct them in? What -- oh god he has a cape. Who even wears capes. It swooshes, and Jion's startled into responding. ]

Haru! Specialist Haru ... sir.

[ This guy did say 'instructor,' but now he's not sure if that 'sir' was even merited. He still has no idea what's going on here. ]

Uh, don't suppose you'd know what's going on here, Mr. Valvatorez?

[ ...OKAY, THAT HAPPENED? dave has good reflexes but he's still startled. he doesn't drop the formerly twelve-year-old girl in that, but he does set her - it??? - down on her feet. her tiger feet. ]

Okay, that was pretty much the best magic trick ever. Do you also pull rabbits out of your hat? When you have a hat, I mean.

[ Jion raises his hands in the universal gesture for 'look I don't have a weapon' before unsurreptitiously leaning up a bit on his toes, trying to get a look at Reim's notebook. ]

It's just. I saw you with that notebook earlier, too. What're you writing? You seem really focused on it.

[Guren looks pretty obviously military, himself. He's in full uniform, ornamented in the way that says he's a higher rank, and he's got a katana at his side. It's always interesting to see someone else show up looking like they came from a similar situation, so he gives Jion a once-over, then tilts his head slightly.]

I'm trying to help new arrivals like you. [He's got the people here memorized, if Jion running up to him for a question wasn't enough.] Ask whatever you want.

I got absolutely no idea where Vanadzor is, but I'd have to go with "no" anyway. Chroma's kind of its own dimension as near as I can tell? But yeah, I've been here a while. The well occasionally just does this? Like, spits up newbies from wherever the hell.

[ he says it like it's some sort of inane quirk, like a laundry machine having to be hit in a specific spot to work. ]

Of course it's from the Netherworld, that's where all demons are from. [He doesn't seem to take this as an insult when it's simply a fact.]

What? You want me to turn into bats?

More or less, yeah...he's built robots before? One of 'ems here - Squarewave, he's chill and lives with Dirk - but the other ain't. So if you need help with anything like that you can hit him up - Dirk Strider, kinda looks like me but has pointier shades.

[ "me but pointier" is the lamest description ever but it isn't inaccurate. ]

[ The door slams, and here they are— two seemingly disparate people in one room. Momo's positioned himself on a chair in the corner of the room, wet shoes and shirt laid out on the floor where he hopes they'll dry out in the next few hours.

He feels a little awkward being caught like this, sitting with his chin resting on the back of this decrepit wooden half-chair, but. Oh well. ]

—Hey! Don't worry about it, my bad for making a mess already...!

[ Here he goes, getting up to pick up his clothes. ] It's been A Day [ emphasis on those words ], huh?

[He instructs Prinnies on how to be Prinnies, of course!

It doesn't seem like the "sir" or the "mister" are bothering him in the least.]

Specialist of what?

[He shakes his head.]

This is the first time I've ever woken up at the bottom of a well. While I can't say I'm enjoying it, the company hasn't been the worst.

Cool. Even if literally everything is horrible, I'm glad I can say I place low on the list of people who looked completely awful after crawling out of a well.

[She makes a face while he describes the clothing choices she'll have, but it's the last sentence that really gives her pause. After a few moments:]

...I'm like 95% sure I misheard you. Color wars?

[ He wasn't even looking at her, honest! Jion was minding his own business, walking a few feet diagonally from her and thinking about how he hopes none of the water from that well got into his medpack, and he's visibly startled when Lottie suddenly snaps at him. ]

Sorry! I didn't mean to! [ He's surprised enough that the apology comes out a little squeaky, and Jion just stares at her dumbly for a moment.

And then realizes he's been hearing her sniffling for the past few moments. She's not, uh, crying, is she? ]
