option a
[ at the moment there aren't many fish near the shore, but that won't stop zelda from carefully trying to spike a rather troublesome one that keeps swimming around. its practically taunting her! ]
Ngh. Hold still... [ and she goes in for the kill-- ] Damn!
[ no good. her fatigue is of no help either. ]
option b
[ after a long day spent fishing, zelda has at least caught a handful of fish. she gets a fire going with a few pieces of driftwood and cooks the fish over it as the bokoblins do, hoping the smoke of the cooking reaches high enough to the sky for anyone to see from afar. she's alone at the moment, but if she notices someone come by she'll wave them over. ]
If you're hungry, please feel free to sit and wait for the fish to finish cooking.
[Anyone left in Chroma walking near the harbor can spot one of the few closest boathouses just out from the docks. But strange... in the light of day, something can be seen running vertically along a support beam for the porch, facing the dock. It's three words, scrawled in red: FROM THE WATER
If someone goes out to the boathouse to check, it seems the red words are written by two fingers in... blood. The door has been left open, but no one is inside. Those who know it's Damian's boathouse won't find him or Jon anywhere, only faint droplets of blood leading from the beam to the edge of the porch into the water.]
[Damian doesn't come unconscious. He's thrown up onto the rocky shore awake and breathless, soaked from head to toe and clenching everything to keep from shivering.
He struggles up, and if anyone runs to help him, he throws his hand sharply in the direction they came while barking:] Get back! Don't come toward the water! [It gives him enough time to gather himself up and quickly escape further island.]
[In the process of almost getting eaten on mermaid hell island? Not today, Satan!
Damian has scaled one of the cliffs and made a primitive "trundling" set-up with some of the rocks. When one or two of the sirens get within range, he slams his shoulder and arm against the largest boulder and sends it careening over the edge of the cliff. He cups his hands over his mouth to yell:] Get out of the way!
[Being so big, the rock picks up speed as it slopes to the ground below. At the bottom, it runs the sirens over flat on the rough rocks of the beach.]
[Feel free to wildcard on the island or the rescue! Damian will be trying to keep everyone safe from the sirens mostly whether it be assisting in combat (if you wanna see him FITE) or helping anyone wounded.]
a: the morning of the 12thDURING & POST-RESCUE: OTA
[ so. waking up on the 12th to find john missing was weird but not a huge concern...at first. dave found it a little odd his roommate had managed to get up before him, but assumed it was just a weird day. he sent texts and assumed john was Around, until he couldn't find him or contact him at all. until dropping by dirk's house produced no dirk. until other people seemed to be completely missing also.
of course he joins in looking for everyone as soon as possible, a little frantic but trying to look calm and collected like things didn't just get thrown out of balance.
he's already starting to feel a little sick on the first day. everyone he knows from home, his best friend his brother and jake, are all gone. so are many close friends from chroma.
being dave, he ignores it and spends the afternoon before the forest explanation searching in the rain for any sign of their friends, increasingly frustrated. he can be caught anywhere in chroma, and he's usually rambling to himself under his breath. ]
...slippery motherfucker, don't know why I'm surprised at all. This is completely the usual bullshit, Strider, pull it together. It's been like three months since anyone's pulled a disappearing act, and obviously we just can't be having that because everyone in the whole goddamned universe wants to be an amateur magician and none of them know that the entire point of disappearing acts is that you reappear later, that's the entire payoff...
[ it's all Stuff Like That. he's stressed. let him live. ]
b: post forest explorations
[ dave drags himself out of the forest - he got stuck with gandhavra (ruva, rather) - and looks. worse for the wear? luckily he was in his godtier duds so the clothes won't be permanently damaged, but he's definitely immediately heading off to manage first aid.
he can be caught if you want to intercept him for that, or you can find him after with significantly more bandages and exhaustion tracing the usual haunts of his missing friends again like that's going to provide any sort of answers. ]
c: my cr ditched me for (not so) sexy sirens disease
[ increasingly as the days go on dave can be found sort of...zoning out. resting. he leans against walls and shit a lot in the normal way of things, so maybe it's not too odd, but he's definitely feeling more and more dizzy and headachey as time goes on and it's pretty severe when Every Single Homestuck save dave managed to follow the sirens. and when he's friends with so many people.
he doesn't bring it up to anyone but if you actually want to catch dave stumbling into you? that's a thing that can happen, with a murmured "sorry". he's also doing amazing things such as STILL wandering around looking for people despite looking dead on his feet and like, maybe sitting down abruptly on a stoop somewhere and resting his head between his knees like that'll stop the nausea. ]
d: island
[ honestly, the island in the mist in the distance is a godsend. dave is woozy and sort of unsteady on his feet as he stands at the harbor, but there's utter relief even though he has no reason to believe that's where the others are.
despite it making sense. ]
Fairy tales. Right? We just have to get to the goddamned fairy island and rescue all the idiot damsels. [ ... ] Well, some of them aren't idiots.
[ his castmates are idiots tho he's so worried ]
a: rescue shenanigans: fight versionWILDCARD
[ if you want a knight in jeans and a long-sleeved shirt to come to your assistance in a siren battle, now's your chance! he may make a few mistakes in battle because. he is still sick as fuck, and also kind of injured from the forest, but what can you do. ]
b: rescue shenanigans: frantic cr searching
[ after sirens are dealt with However they are dealt with, he's going to be looking at the kidnapees. who knows if anyone died, not lucy, and certainly not dave. he's looking around slowly for anyone he recognizes, moving very deliberately because if he doesn't he's liable to fall over but no one needs? to know that? it's probably fine.
if you spot him first, you can do whatever. if he spots close cr, dave will probably approach a little more quickly and definitely stumble. maybe don't let him eat hell island dirt.
for those he recognizes who aren't close cr he'll pause and direct them to where the boats landed. the same goes for anyone he doesn't recognize. he also might have to pause and just. sit somewhere and hope a siren doesn't take advantage of a moment of "i cannot stand rn let me rest". if it does, maybe help him out or at least scold him for not watching. ]
[ if none of these work for you or you have something in mind, feel free to toss me a starter! i'm also open to plot/discuss things via pm. ]
boat ride[so, if at any point on the way to the island, you look like you're struggling with nausea/dizziness/what have you? well, gandharva/ruva, who on the other hand is minimally affected, has absolutely no qualms with conjuring some ice in the palm of his hand—
and then shoving it down the back of your shirt. enjoy!]
Does that help?
[he's trying to be nice. maybe.]
during the fight[when the sirens take to the water, gandharva for one is glad—because while it may be an advantage to them, it's easily one for him as well.
for anyone who doesn't feel like jumping into the water to pursue the sirens and/or might have difficulty when the enemy has an escape route, it's soon no longer an issue. in time, oddly enough, the sirens swim back to the surface, as if running from something. something like... well, the water being progressively frozen from underneath them, ultimately trapping them up there.
(honestly, gandharva would rather have just frozen over the entire area immediately, but he didn't want to accidentally harm any allies who might also be underwater. also, the fish. the fish doesn't deserve to be frozen. :( )
in any case, soon after the sirens find themselves caught, gandharva himself pops up through the surface of the water in a non-iced over spot. with that said, for those who know him, he's not immediately recognizable. a closer examination will give him away, however: his right eye is fairly distinct, after all.]
Ah, it's too bad. I'd rather not kill creatures of the water, but...
[regardless, the sirens are struggling to break free from the ice, so attack while you can! as far as gandharva's concerned, this should be sufficient effort on his part.]
on the island[once the fighting calms down, gandharva—still in adult form—wanders around the island, looking for any injured. if you happen to be as such, he'll approach you with a gentle smile.]
Would you like that healed?
i. rise and shine
[ Waking up here is disorienting if all else, because it's still a bit fuzzy how they got here. It feels like there's water in their ears, water completely soaked through their clothes...and most importantly, water has completely washed off the white powder that usually goes on their body, leaving them with a very, very glittery and dark appearance. Seriously, it's hard to look at them fully in the sunlight with how much they are shimmering.
And they don't seeem to appreciate that very much, because if anyone gives them the eye for more than a few seconds, they quickly let you know how they feel about it. ]
What? What are you looking at.
[ They're scowling right at you while moving to take their shoe off, obviously in a sour mood. They'd love to confirm their suspicions about how they got here with the person they just barked at, but first, they have to be grumpy about the staring. It's just like that sometimes. ]
ii. fishing trip
[ Of course, with how barren the island is, it's understandable that so many people are fishing. But what's also understandable? Mistaking the glimmer from their crystal hair under the water for something edible, like one of those tasty mutant fish!! Maybe your spear hits their head, or your line gets tangled up on their neck— either way, there's a squawk that comes from under the water, bubbles coming up to the surface. They're far enough out in the water that when standing at their full height, they're fully submerged, but being disturbed causes them to storm up a few steps, enough that their head comes up above the water. There's nothing human about their appearance, as light reflects all around them and onto the water, but at least they're not a siren...? Just a very irritated looking fae-crystal-person. ]
Do I look like a fish to you?
[ Is that sarcasm or a genuine question...? We'll never know, since they sound too annoyed to distinguish. ]
iii. they protecc, but they also attacc
[ Maybe the sirens are giving you some weird looks, or even blatantly talking about how they're going to eat you next, but the next thing you know, there's a smooth and cold hand at your shoulder, tugging you closer. ]
You don't want to get eaten or whatever, by those things, right. [ They leer in the direction of the sirens, watching them carefully. ] Stay close to me.
[ It's true that the sirens don't seem very interested in getting a mouth full of crystal, but it doesn't seem like that'll stop them from trying to snatch you away from them, since they're making an advance regardless. ]
iv. to the rescue!!
[ They're surprised when the boats come, when they see how many of the other inhabitants have come to rescue them. It's also a little bit disheartening, because... looking at those rickety boats, they're not sure they're going to be able to go on one of those at all, given their high density. Will they be able to go back at all? Those are the thoughts they're having while studying the boats from their hiding place in the brush...at least until they hear a noise behind them. Maybe you're a rescuee that came from the other side of the island that they didn't see, or simply another kidnappee looking to escape!
Either way, since they've been punching sirens left and right for the last few days, your approach will be met with a hard offensive swing from their fist!! Please duck in time to keep all your teeth. And bones. ]
v. build-a-gorm
[ As soon as the boat Cairngorm is in hits the shores of Chroma, they let out a long groan. Well, most of them does, at least. In order to get across the sea without sinking every boat they stepped foot in, they're missing both their legs and one of their arms— which of course, means, they're not in the greatest condition right now. ]
Ugh... are we here? [ They push themself up on the right arm that they still have attached, blinking wearily. That's right, in the midst of dozing off, they forgot someone else is with them, not to mention the identity of the person they are with. ] Took you long enough.
[ They don't seem to be in pain, but they do seem a little dazed, looking around confusedly at the land that's become home-sweet-home for the last few months. ]
[ It's honestly a bit hard for Caramia to wake up when he's suddenly on this island, simply because he'd rather be asleep then deal with the feeling of his soaked clothes clinging to his already drenched skin. Alas, jagged rocks aren't super comfortable to sleep on, so he begrudgingly stirs to try and survey his surroundings. He can't say he really remembers much of how he got here-- probably just the grogginess of waking up... ]II. Dad's cooking dinner again (Island kidnappees Only)
Ia.[ Still, being mostly alone, he'll quickly scout the edges for anyone else who either seems lost and confused, and offer to help them find someplace to dry off before they can try and put together what the hell is going on. ]
Ib.[ Otherwise, he'll be scouting for anyone passed out along the shoreline. Insert cliche anime CPR scene for anyone who isn't breathing, if that's what you're about, but ultimately, if they're just knocked out, he'll pick them up and carry them under the cliffs somewhere so they can dry off and be at least a little safer. ]
[ The only reason the sirens probably haven't picked him off to eat yet lies in the fact that he seems to be coughing every couple of minutes. Who wants to eat diseased meat, after all? Disgusting.
But it gives him a chance to take shelter under the cliffs from the rain and make fires to boot. On top of that, he seems to be roasting a few fish and... some... weird monsterous flying creature that's skinned too much to really tell what it is. Judging by the scratches on Caramia's arm, it was something that tried messing with him and lost. Still, it certainly doesn't look appetizing... but you can certainly ask for a piece of demon bird if you're brave. ]
[ The good news about being old and sick is being really low on the menu in terms of being eaten. First, anyway, but that's besides the point. This means that he isn't being coerced back out into the water by their song, but dealing with the fact that they're still trying to eat his friends isn't great. But, hey, he's still got a gun with him, so he's going to do his damndest to protect his friends.
So, if you're here to save this idiot thinking he's gotten himself into more trouble, you'll bepleasantly surprisedhorrifyingly alarmed to find him, instead, with his hands shoved inside the guts of a Siren's corpse. How appetizing.
...Look, he's hungry, and Siren's probably taste like fish! ]
