Damian, what in the world - how did you get here? Are you alright?
no subject
[He looks up.] Others too, if you’re here. I went after them. [A FOOL. One arm lifts for him to inspect, his left.
He pulls the sleeve back. Across the top near the elbow, a long and thin slice has been made, but the cut doesn’t look jagged. The wet sleeve is bloody, and his brows furrow.] Have you seen Jon?
A boy about my age. Black hair, blue eyes.
no subject
No, I haven't yet, but if the sirens took him then he'll surely be here. [ she purses her lips and looks down to her nightgown. ] Let me help you.
[ it's not in great shape, but she'll reach her hands down to the hem and carefully rip off some of the fabric that doesn't look too muddled. ]
no subject
Wait, you don't have--
[He probably could have ripped his own repurposed shirt, and she wouldn't have had to tear the nightgown at all. His frown isn't angry, more confused at the generosity.] It's just a scratch.
I left a message for those still in Chroma.

[ it's hardly just a scratch, but if he doesn't resist she'll gently pull on his hand to bring the arm closer so she can tie the cloth around it. not the greatest bandage but it'll do for now. ]
Although I admire your bravery and courage in coming after him, I must admonish you for putting yourself in harms way. You're in no condition to swim back to the town.

I could make it easily. [He won't know it'll be impossible unless he attempts it. His brows furrow when she starts wrapping his arm; he doesn't wince or grimace.] But I'm not leaving without Jon and the rest of you.
The sirens charmed people to get them to go into the water. They'll likely try to eat us. Mythologically, most of them eat their prey.

[ again - admirable bravery, but he's much too quick to throw himself into danger for her heart to bear. she wouldn't be able to even look at his father if she let him throw himself into the ocean a second time. ]
For the moment the sirens seem to be ignoring us. I liken it to the beast catching prey and then keeping it on reserve for when it hungers.

He turns his arm and squeezes his fist a moment, testing the mobility.] I always have a plan. [When he lifts his head, his eyes skim past her and to the island itself, searching.] I need to look around.
You need to hide. Just because the sirens are gathering more victims doesn't mean they won't take the time to eat.

[ spoken in firmness, her brows furrowed down the same in an even line. he didn't really think he'd get off that easy, did he? ]
