[When Guren emerges from the forest, it's four hours after he'd originally entered, and he looks... actually, he looks completely fine, as far as physical health goes! He's unharmed, even if his uniform is considerably ruffled. But his expression is serious, irritated, and he's completely focused on checking on everyone else who came out of the forest. He wants a head count, he wants to make sure no one died, that anyone hurt is getting help.
Something else seems off, as if he's a little unwell, but considering it's just the first day, he doesn't allow much of that to show.]
RESCUE SET UP
[With the forest as a failure all around, they had to look at other clues. Things like the quest for boats, any messages characters like Damian had left behind, and... the faint sight of the island in the distance. With that realized, their next goal is clear: they have to travel out there.
Guren encourages everyone he sees to stick together for this. A group kidnapping isn't something that's happened before, and going one at a time could get them picked off like the others were. So, he encourages boats and rafts to be filled, and he'll be here to help with anything anyone needs!!
So, he stops by anyone who might be working towards helping with this, too.]
Are you almost ready? We're all going to try leaving in about twenty minutes, so let me know if there's anything you need help with.
[Of course, he says that, but wasn't he just holding his head a minute ago? You might have caught him earlier, wobbling a little in standing from a crouch, or looking just off. He looks utterly exhausted. But he's trying to play it off as best as he can.]
BOAT TRIP (DEX +3 OTHERS)
[For how bad he was on the ground, he's even worse on the boat. There's no room for him to walk away and pretend he's fine— he's just sitting there, staring at the island, occasionally pulling out his monocular from his jacket pocket to take a look at how close they are. He's helping to steer and power them as much as he can, but there are a couple of times it looks like he's going to keel over and fall in the water.
He doesn't, of course. He stays sitting and staring and quiet.]
DURING AND POST-RESCUE, ALL CHARACTERS
FIGHT
[By the time the rescue crew gets to the island, it looks like things are already getting hairy. People getting eaten, or in line to be eaten, others on the rescue here starting to fight those ugly Sirens— Guren hops off his own boat immediately and joins the fray. He's still terribly ill and exhausted, and looks like he hasn't slept much at all, but there are a couple ways this could go.
a. let him rescue you He has his sword and he has fuda. Maybe you're dealing with one Siren while another one approaches from behind, and he takes care of it, or maybe the one you're facing is just too much and he stabs through it from behind its back. Either way, he's here to help, and as soon as that Siren is down and they're briefly free, he gives the person he's rescued a once-over.]
Are you alright?
[Otherwise...
b. rescue him a little Since he's so out of it, he's not as on top of things as he'd like to be. He's pushing back attacks, and he can deal with a handful of the Sirens at once, but there's always going to be a time where one more than he can handle jumps at him. Either he's going to get speared through the side (which he still can, if you want, he'll survive) or someone can come to help him out before he does.]
GET TO THE CHOPPER
[With at least many of the Sirens out of the way, Guren checks on the shore, helping those who are less inclined to fight or ready to go home back onto rafts and boats that were brought over.]
Hurry up! Get on, and start rowing! Everyone's making it back, so get close!
[Yelled to everyone. But if anyone seems like they're hesitating, or trying to delay their own rescue, he'll go ahead and reach out to take their hand or arm, insistent.]
no subject
