Event Nine.

Thus, on Life’s gloomy sea, Heareth the marinere Voices sweet, from far and near, Ever singing in his ear, “Here is rest and peace for thee!”

t's a dark night, and the sounds of feet in the darkness are further dampened and hidden by even more magic, as they are lured away by the soft sounds of dreams that are too good to be true, leaving the Town much, much emptier than when it began. On one side, an island, and a ticking clock to a gruesome death. On the other, the slow realization that those bonds everyone has been forging might mean much, much more than they first thought. rescue set up!

[Sticking together is a good idea. Going to rescue everyone together is obviously the ideal plan. Minato doesn't have any issues with any of this, or with Guren taking charge.

What he does take issue with is--]

Ichinose-san! Are you okay?

[A beat. He frowns.]

No--I mean "how bad is it?"

[He knows Guren isn't okay.]

[swordfucker]

It's nothing.

[Unfortunately, he's still Like This, giving Minato a glance from the side before looking forward at the progress of everyone again. Rafts, food, first aid supplies... They were almost ready.

He looks back to Minato fully, now, one hand on his sword.]

Everyone is feeling sick right now. If we focus on that, we won't get anywhere. [That's his excuse, at least.] You're not going to fall overboard if you go, right?

[And yet, that's his way of asking Minato the exact same question...]

[Minato frowns at that, a bit, but...the covert acknowledgement, at least, that Guren's also feeling sick makes him feel a bit better. At least he's not trying to pretend he's totally unaffected...

So Minato just shakes his head.]

No, of course not. They need our help. I can't afford to mess up now.

... I guess we can worry about the rest later. [This illness, and how they're all feeling--that can wait until they've saved everyone.]

[swordfucker]

Right.

[Even if he's asking Minato to push himself too, he has to. Who's going to save the others if they don't? They're all ill, but they all need to keep moving. It's horrible.]

The more sick we feel, the more likely it is that the others are being hurt, or even killed. We can't hesitate or try to rest it off in hopes that it'll go away, even if that leaves us all weak.

[He sighs out some of his tension, leaning back against whatever he can find.]

You don't have to thank me for that.

[Couldn't they say the same about everyone who's here, doing their best to rescue their lost friends...?]

They're important to all of us. And with all of us here... I'm sure we'll be able to save them.

[A beat, and he adds:]

But after--we'll worry about the rest. Because I'm sure you've been pushing yourself a lot. [With good reason, of course, but it's not like Minato trusts Guren will rest properly when this is all taken care of, either.]

[swordfucker]

Everyone has.

[He always brushes it off like that, too. His arms cross loosely, and he tilts his head a little at Minato.]

But yeah, I get it. Don't worry, I'll get some rest, too. [He has to be forced later anyway, but shh.] Have you eaten anything recently?

[messianic]

[Guren won't get some rest, later, Minato thinks. Not unless people really harass him about it--

But that's fine. Later, they can all do that. For now, he considers that question...and then shakes his head. (Actually, he hasn't missed any meals or anything, but--)]

No, not recently. I guess that's something we should do, huh...?

[Maybe if he brings back some food, Guren will eat something too.]

[swordfucker]

Here.

[He reaches into his pocket and pulls out something wrapped in a leaf. Closer inspection will reveal that it's an onigiri... if a very sloppily made one.]

Okuni gave me one earlier, along with this extra. I already ate, for once, so you can have this one.

It doesn't taste as bad as it looks. [He's so mean]

[messianic]

[No matter how he looks at it, he feels bad taking food from Guren...

But so long as he already ate...]

... Thanks, then, Ichinose-san. It looks pretty tasty to me.

[So mean.]

But knowing Okuni-san, she probably deserves a little teasing like that, so it's fine.

[swordfucker]

Haha, you know her too, huh? Of course she's the type to get around.

[No comment on the tastiness of the onigiri, even if he did eat the whole thing and thank her for it. It was good. It was just so ugly.]

Ah... you mean she's really loud, right?

[WELL, IT'S TRUE.]

She's a good person, though.

[swordfucker]

That doesn't make her any less of a pain in the ass.

[In other words, he knows. But yes.]

But I'll let you eat that. We'll be leaving soon, so it'll be better on the water with something in your stomach.

So you like her, in other words...

[Musingly!! But he can take a hint, it's fine.]

Got it. I'll make sure to eat this and be hydrated, too. [He can't say he's used to handling the ocean, but dragging people down just isn't an option.]

I won't hold everyone back.

[swordfucker]

[He shoots him a Look at that first thing, but says nothing else. The last thing he says is more important, after all.]

You never do.

[For the record. But it's good to keep it as an effort. He waves, and heads off to check on some of the others.]
