t seems like just another day in this place. It's chilly, but not miserable, and there's a bit of holiday cheer in the form of a few of those trees people have managed to decorate.
Of course...there's also the shades, but who cares about those?
They wander, drifting too and fro, following their usual, typical lives as if they have no idea that they're not longer alive, no longer in their own proper home. They walk over the frozen lake in Flavo as if it's not even there, open doors that no longer exist, and settle into rooms that are nothing but rubble.
They're living in a past that only they can see, but perhaps you can see a bit more from watching them?
Only... maybe don't spend too much time with them, lest you start seeming too much like a ghost yourself.

[ Maya Amano is doing what she does best.
... No, not yelling about positivity.
...... No, not causing some form of property damage.
Stalking. More specifically, she's hot on the trail on any kind of scoop she can score, which involves staring intently at a pair of shades hanging out near the well and straining to catch any mention of, you know. The well being possessed by demons or something. Or she's in the library eyeballing the shades and squinting at what books they may or may not be looking at. Or.
She's attempting to tail them as they stride calmly across the frozen lake without remembering that there is, indeed, a frozen lake, so enjoy the sight of this lady yelping and sliding like Bambi on Ice.
You may also catch her getting slightly frustrated because damn does she want to talk to these things: ]
You can't drop just one helpful hint? Anything besides how it's a shame that the one guy you think is charming just so happens to live in Bluo and is totally off-limits?
[ ii. bad romance ]
[ Hm. While you're going about your business, there's a very tired-looking young lady meandering in your direction-- which is odd, if you know Maya, because she doesn't normally look tired. Or disheartened. Or just plain Done.
If she doesn't know you, she's shooting you a pitiful look anyway, as if inviting you to ask her what the heck's wrong. And if she does know you-- ]
Can I stay with you tonight?
[ Oh, dear. ]
[ iii. now you (don't) see her ]
[ Once again, you're probably minding your own business. It's a shame that minding your own business doesn't actually seem to be doing you any favors, but this time, there's no one making a beeline for you or causing a ruckus.
Kind of.
But there is, suddenly, a voice right beside you and literally nothing else. ]
I've kind of come to expect it from them, but ignoring me is kind of rude, don't you think?
[ Miss Amano may have been hanging out with the ghosts a little too long, because she is most definitely invisible. ]
ii
Happily, Tonbokiri is a noble spirit who first takes the literal meaning of what Maya says, but that statement, on top of her general air of exhausted dishevelment, stops him in his tracks. And then he hurries forward to offer her an arm to lean on.]
Yes, of course you may, Maya-dono. Can you walk the rest of the way? Or I could carry you-- or, no, perhaps fetching Mikuniguro would be better?

[ Ghosts. Are the worst. She's been haunted before, she's done this exact same song and dance but under worse circumstances. That doesn't mean she's an expert at dealing with the paranormal.. Maybe just an expert at freaking out mildly less. She doesn't sleep in her room, or at all for that matter. She's too spooked to attempt to do anything, and too scared to mention it to anyone else in fear it's just some mad hallucination.
So Lottie thought maybe hanging out at the church might be safe - ghosts are ghosts after all, and since she can't talk to these ones maybe the holy power in.. The walls, or whatever, will keep them out!
It doesn't. ]
Noo.. They're everywhere!! [ She's pulling at her hair, seeing the families mull about inside the building. Talking, praying, existing at the worst possible time. There's so many of them she feels like dying. ] I don't get it! What do they want me to do? Ghostgirl was annoying but she still gave me clues!
a fall
[ By now she's used to them, the people passing by her just going about their business. That doesn't mean she particularly likes it, though, as evidenced by the terrible bags under her eyes and scowl on her face. She's trying to combat her awful mood with her phone, playing with it as she leans against the side of a building in town.
A dog, completely see-through, passes by her feet, and Lottie automatically recoils. She's trained herself by now to keep a good distance away from any animal that isn't hypoallergenic, but her brain seems to have mixed up that she should only worry about dogs that are alive and not dead.
This would be a completely normal incident.. If not for the fact the moment Lottie recoils, she phases right through the wall supporting her. Her phone drops to the ground with a worrying sound (second to her scream) after it hits the wall, escaping her hand entirely. ]

Turns out, intangibility really bites.
For those inside Bluohaus, you might become privy to the knowledge that this is happening due to, say, the sound of a loud clatter and splash from the kitchen, followed by a bout of elegantly-accented cursing; fortunately, whatever he'd dropped on account of becoming intangible didn't actually splash him or injure him, thanks to the fact that the rest of him went intangible in the same moment, right along with his hands. There's...probably a mess in there now, though.
For those catching him outside Bluohaus, you might spot him walking back from the library, in which case that armful of books he's carrying with him for further perusal back home? Yeah, those just went all over the ground. That's just great. Absolutely magnificent.]
B — MAKE A WISH FOUNDATION (claimed by

[Cafe Morgana used to be a general store. Akira knew that before he moved in and took over the space, moving out most of the useless shelving and replacing it with tables, putting beans and cups in the back behind the counter.
But it's still more than a little weird to watch them file in and look around, reaching for items on shelves that aren't there anymore, approach the counter but look not at him, but at the ghostly man behind it.
He only sticks around for awhile before coming outside, to flip the sign to "Closed" and also pin up a note.
Closed until weird ghost stuff is over.
He keeps stopping every time a ghost walks in or out through him, though. It's so weird!]
B: I Triple Dog Dare You
[Akira's been out by the edge of the woods for awhile now, watching.
Some of the ghost kids left the safety of Ruga and headed out this way, so naturally he followed. He thought they might go in, but for most of the time they stand around about twenty feet away, conversing between themselves, sometimes pushing one of them toward the woods only for the lone child to run back to his friends.
Finally, one breaks away from the group, a boy a little taller than the others, and starts walking toward the woods.
Akira doesn't look at whoever came to join him, but points at the boy leaving the pack.]

[Okay. So ghosts exist. That's some new knowledge for Connor.
They aren't really what popular culture would have led him to believe, though. Instead of haunting humans or making trouble for them, they largely seem to ignore them, and just go about their day as if they were alive.
Odd.
Connor spends awhile observing them, but none of his scans even really pick them up. They aren't built to deal with ghosts, that's for certain. The most he can really do is see they exist with his visual processors.]
I wasn't built for these kind of investigations!
[He says it to himself, while he's watching some ghosts in Bluo, but it might just be loud enough for anyone around to hear...]
B: All Float On Alright
[Something is wrong.
At first he almost didn't notice it, but his feet started to rise off the dock he was just walking along. He only rose a few inches, then a few more, until he was about half a foot suspended in air.]
...What?
[Is all he can say, but his body seems to have further plans. While he watches himself, he floats another foot, and then another, up off the docks.]
...Not good.
[Why does it have to be floating? Why does he have to be going up?
Connor looks around frantically for something to grab onto, but there's nothing in reach. But his eyes do land on a person nearby, and he starts to call out, waving his arms.]
Excuse me? A little help!
[He's another foot up now. Oh dear...]

She still finds their presence to be overwhelmingly unwanted despite that, leading her to stomp her way over to Bluo after dealing with the ghosts in her house for some time. It's a happy coincidence Connor lives there, obviously - it just means she can loiter (hopefully, ghost free!) in his house.
...But it definitely looks like he's dealing with his own crisis when she finds him. ]

[The first few hours of it all, it's startling, even to Guren. Shadows of people passing this way and that, not responding to any sort of magic or prodding. But after that, it's almost natural, not a distraction, and he continues on like normal. Training, notes, producing whatever he can as far as drugs go, so on and so forth. He's about as tired as he gets, lost in his own thoughts and quick to wave off anyone who asks him anything. Because of this, he's been more distant than even usual. The quick adjustment to the figures around him isn't anything that's causing him to ignore them— in fact, he's been paying them more attention than the live people of the town, and it's showing now in how parts of his body begin to fade out of nowhere, almost like he's not there.
There's something else that happens along with this, strangely enough. Mahiru, who is normally only visible to him, begins to become even more of a presence than usual. Even those characters who weren't sensitive enough to pick up the feeling of her presence can feel something now, and at the right time or angle, you might catch a glimpse of her. Floating, her arms around Guren from behind, or perhaps leaning in to peer at the person in question who seems to have noticed her, smiling knowingly. Whatever it is she's doing, though, Guren doesn't pay her any mind just yet.
Almost as if he doesn't see her at all, or maybe he's just used to it, he instead focuses straight on the person who might be gawking, scrunching his face up slightly in annoyance.]
What?
[While he's used to dealing with Mahiru's presence constantly and having to pretend like he doesn't see anything, he doesn't expect anyone else at all to notice that she's there. So, he seems to just be assuming that it's something else they're staring at him for.]
B. Wildcard
[Otherwise, you can find him anywhere! Working hard... maybe you even catch him leaning against something with his arms crossed almost like he's asleep? He's got the problem of going invisible or half visible a lot, and telekinesis is another thing that will pop up, but other than that he's just quietly and grumpily sticking to himself right now. Let me know at
zeloser if you want to plot anything specific or have questions!]
no subject
[He's a polite enough person not to talk around someone who's clearly there, so he looks away from Guren there, watching Mahiru curiously.]
You must be what I was picking up on before, right? I don't mean to stare, really, I've just... never actually seen you.
[It's been a little odd, not being able to, but now that he actually can? There's no way he isn't going to ask, though he's not sure whether seeing her extends to hearing her as well.]

[In the months since arriving in Chroma Duo never thought the word 'crowded' would come in to play. There was a decent number of people but being spread out between three districts and not even close to nearing a usual town population made the place feel like a ghost town even at the best of moments.
The arrival of those damned shades certainly proved him wrong, though. And in the most annoying way possible. Though they were transparent and would vanish upon being touched only to reappear a moment later, it still made the house he occupied with Kohaku feel irritatingly packed. They couldn't be talked to or interacted with in any way aside from having them poof in to mist and the longer they hung around the more he just wanted his privacy back. Even his bedroom wasn't safe from those shades! How many people lived in this house before anyway?
Which was why he was spending most of his time at the church. There were shades in that location, too, but not nearly as many as there had been in his house or the streets. If someone among the current living decided to stop in as well, they'll likely find Duo to be one of the few that were still opaque in the area. Sitting in a pew with a notebook and a pencil, lips moving in the occasional soft mutter as he doodled and scribbled notes in the blank pages. Sitting, or rather posed next to him was a small mecha model.]
b. bluo
[They weren't entirely unavoidable. Given the numbers and the fact that many were in houses that they likely previously occupied it was pretty much impossible to not spend time around the shades. Which meant sooner or later he was going to get stuck with the effects of being in their presence. At first it was just the irritating flicker of temporary translucence and the two glass cups he managed to break because of it.
A pain, but one that could be dealt with.
Floating the second he walked out of the house and getting stuck on the roof, however, was... a lot more tricky to find a solution for. He did attempt a few times to jump down, floating back up and having to catch the gutter to keep from going too far. Maybe for the best; that fall would have resulted in something broken, and unlike a certain Wing Gundam pilot he wasn't keen on the idea of resetting his own leg.
So he was simply stuck up there, sitting and waiting for someone solid to walk by in the throng of shades that were scuttling about.]
Heeeeey! If you're not like... busy or whatever, I could really use some help here...
c. [Closed: Kohaku]
[At some point when Duo isn't hiding from the shades in his house or being stuck on the roof, he takes that little model up to Kohaku's room and knocks on the door.]
