March 31 - Yaoyorozu
After a short time, as promised, a girl who could only be Yaoyorozu comes into sight.
Standing, he waves at her to catch her attention. (Although, being not only coloured but large, he must stand out as it is...)
no subject
"Tonbokiri, yes?"
no subject
"I am called Tonbokiri, one of the Three Great Spears of Japan. It is a pleasure to meet you in person." He bows firmly towards her, but a small smile is quickly on his face. "It truly is a pleasure to say an introduction in person. The forum feels so impersonal... Although it is quite useful."
no subject
"You as well, sir. I do agree, I prefer face to face conversation, though I admit I'm used to using the internet to communicate."
Being from the Not So Distant Future.
"Where is your horse companion?"
no subject
At the question he points over his shoulder. "Just here-" And when he glances over to look where he's pointing he sighs out a laugh. "He walked just out of sight, I suppose."
Bringing one hand to his mouth, he places his fingers so that he can blow a sharp whistle. At once, a large black horse comes galloping over from behind the house, neck arched proudly and steps high.
"May I introduce Mikuniguro." He then turns to the horse and rubs his nose. "Mikuniguro, this friend is Yaoyorozu-dono. She'll be making a saddle especially for you, so be still as she measures you out, all right?"
The horse flicks his ears as if uninterested, but he does stand completely still.

April 8 - Arisato
It gives a fairly large playing field for training, with the overgrowth making for a bit of additional challenge.
After their conversation on the forum, Tonbokiri comes outside to await Arisato, stretching out his muscles as he waits, his sheathed spear propped against the wall nearby.

Isn't that why Tonbokiri is the teacher here? It's fine, he'll just have to do his best to learn as they go.
So Minato turns up not much later, a sheathed sword in one hand, his other hand tucked into his pocket--though he's pretty quick to lift that one in a wave.
"Tonbokiri-san, hello. Thank you for agreeing to teach me."
He's honestly pretty eager to learn some legitimate technique, since all he's got is basically what he was able to put together over a year of fighting Shadows and praying for the best.
no subject
He waves back broadly and greets him.
"My pleasure. As I said before, I hope you can forgive me for not being particularly proficient at using swords. Although, having been on the receiving end often enough, I should be able to give a few useful ideas!" He chuckles lightly, thinking of the myriad of times he turned a sword from his master. "Understanding the techniques of your enemy can be just as useful as knowing your own.
"First, stretch out a bit. And as you do, tell me about your sword, and your experiences together with him so far."
no subject
Minato's quiet for a moment as he starts to stretch, contemplating that.
His experiences...
"I've never really learned any proper swordplay." He has to start with that, scrupulously honest as he reaches for his toes. "The only reason I even picked up a sword was because...I was in danger, and so were my friends. But it's been a year since then, so I guess I've learned a little on my own."

March 22 - Emma
Hopefully his home is as easy to find as he promised, and there are two horses in a rough but decently sturdy-looking stable.
Well, one, as Tonbokiri is leading Mikuniguro out in anticipation of their visitor. But surely the sight of a large and coloured man leading a black horse into a field overgrown with greyscale weeds would stand out.
no subject
"Hello!" She's calling out, but she doesn't continue until she's actually in speaking distance. "You must be Mister Tonbokiri- and this is Mikuniguro?" She assumes because, whoa, that's a big horse. It has to be his. She doesn't get any nearer to the large horse to avoid spooking it but her eyes are alight with interest.
no subject
"Mikuniguro, this is Emma-dono. The place she is from doesn't have any horses, so show her your best, all right?"
Patting him firmly on the side Tonbokiri steps to stand to the side slightly. Mikuniguro, for his part, arches his neck proudly, then brings his face down slightly so that it is level with the little girl.
"You can pet his nose, if you like. Just stand to either side a little so that he can still see you. As you can see, a horse's eyes are very far to either side of their head, so seeing something directly in front of them is difficult."
no subject
She laughs, holding it back as a giggle. "There are horses, just not any near me." But she nods and follows his instructions to the letter and moves to the side so the horse can track her movements. Very carefully she places a little hand on the horse's broad nose. Aahh- It's so cool she can't help but make another excited little noise.
"Where I live everything is like demons. There are normal animals too, but a lot are surprisingly different. His nose is way, way softer." She blurts out this start to her 'long tale' about the not-a-horse she has met before.

They lead both of them to a brightly lit clearing, something that Cairn had discovered themself in trying to find a suitable place for practice. Once they reach they edge, they let out a little sigh:
"Okay," Slowly, they set down a few of the things they'd been carrying with them: a can filled with tree resin, a paintbrush, a few worn cloths they'd found lying around. "If you have any questions about me, I suggest you get them out now."
Their voice is short and blunt, brushing off their uniform and standing to their full height once they're finished.
"Otherwise, we can get started right away."
no subject
"Mm. I wasn't sure what to expect when Ichonose-dono said you are some sort of crystal. I thought perhaps you are a tsukumogami like myself, but if so you are certainly the most true to your form I have ever seen!" His hair sparkles! It is amazing!
"Very well. For now, my only question is if you believe you can withstand a strike from my spear. Even a dragonfly landing upon the blade was cut, such is my cutting prowess. I would prefer to hold back as little as possible, but I do not mean to cut you to pieces either."
He unsheathes his spear and holds it out for Cairngorm to inspect, if he wishes.
no subject
"Sharpness of the blade shouldn't make a difference. You won't be able to cut me." At least, they can't imagine a blade being able to slice them the way an animal could be. Though, they want to make it a little more clear, so they're willing to elaborate: "It's the force of the impact that matters. My body is made of a type of quartz, if you have that on your planet, so my hardness is around seven..."
They only spend a few seconds inspecting the blade, not particularly interested in how sharp it supposedly is.
"Whether or not you like holding back, just try not to strike my head. I'm trusting that this little teaching experiment won't get me shattered too seriously... No one around here knows how to put gems back together but me, and I'll be unconscious if you knock my head off like some brute."
no subject
Tonbokiri lifts a hand to his chin, thinking it over for a moment. He supposes it makes sense, that steel, even his, would be hard-pressed to cut a hard stone. At least, 'seven' sounds hard. But if it's just the force of the impact that matters- he shrugs.
"Very well. If you are not worried I shall not be, either. I promise to not aim for your head. And if I can learn how to help you when you are hurt, I am willing to do so, so that at least you are not the only one."
That said, he places the spear's sheath aside, takes a few strides back and sets his stance, spear held with both hands.
"Let's have a good bout!"

4/13 - Ochako!
And that, of course, is why Ochako is standing in this particular clearing, working her way through her many pre-training stretches as she waits for Tonbokiri to arrive. He's not late, of course; she's simply very, very early, because the thought of training with someone new is oh-so exciting. She's determined to give this her all!
no subject
Tonbokiri strolls slowly over to the appointed meeting place, stretching out his arms as he goes, and is surprised to find the girl already there. So he picks up his pace and calls over to her.
"Ochako-dono! My apologies for making you wait. Did I mistake the meeting time?"
no subject
"Tonobokiri-san! You're right on time, I think. I was just a little excited, so I... got here a little earlier than I meant to." Pausing for a moment, she reaches up to rub the back of her neck. "Well, maybe I got here a lot earlier than I meant to."
no subject
"Truth be told, I heard from Yaoyorozu-dono what a 'quirk' is. Although you have a superpower, I wish to warn you, my spear has legendary cutting prowess, and I am very strong." Not a boast, but a statement of fact. "I will respect if you believe your power is enough to defend against me, but I will use the sparring weapon."

4/10 (morning)
Therefore, he'd found out about Midoriya's organized effort to explore the forest after he'd taken a long excursion into the forest on his own.
Of course, the only sensible thing to do was to report his findings to the boy seeing as he was the one coordinating the information, whether Tonbokiri had been a part of the group or not.
So here he is at Midoriya's place, politely knocking on the door. His expression is slightly troubled though - although their homes are not very far apart, he'd walked here in the rain, which had became heavier part-way here... So please pardon him for dripping a bit.
no subject
He practically flings the door open when he hears the knock. "Tonbokiri-san!" He exclaims, looking dismayed when he gets a good look at him and the water he's dripping everywhere. "Hold on, I'll get you something to dry off with! Just close the door behind you."
Off Izuku races into another room before returning, offering up a towel to the tsukumogami with a slight smile.
no subject
Without stepping further than the entrance way (with door closed firmly behind him) he starts drying off from his head downwards, sighing slightly at the puddle growing from his dripping hakama and ponytail.
"It was not bad when I left... but I suppose I will have to think about carrying some sort of umbrella. I'm not certain if it's truly spring here, but it's certainly been raining enough." With the occasional snow. He shivers, partly from the thought of the snow and partly because this water is as unnaturally cold as the rest.
no subject
"Ah, it's hard to tell what season it is without a calendar of any kind," he says, an exasperated tone bleeding into his words. "The weather hasn't been very consistent either--it wouldn't be the best idea to base it on anything too complicated just yet."
