"Hello!" She's calling out, but she doesn't continue until she's actually in speaking distance. "You must be Mister Tonbokiri- and this is Mikuniguro?" She assumes because, whoa, that's a big horse. It has to be his. She doesn't get any nearer to the large horse to avoid spooking it but her eyes are alight with interest.
no subject
"Mikuniguro, this is Emma-dono. The place she is from doesn't have any horses, so show her your best, all right?"
Patting him firmly on the side Tonbokiri steps to stand to the side slightly. Mikuniguro, for his part, arches his neck proudly, then brings his face down slightly so that it is level with the little girl.
"You can pet his nose, if you like. Just stand to either side a little so that he can still see you. As you can see, a horse's eyes are very far to either side of their head, so seeing something directly in front of them is difficult."
no subject
She laughs, holding it back as a giggle. "There are horses, just not any near me." But she nods and follows his instructions to the letter and moves to the side so the horse can track her movements. Very carefully she places a little hand on the horse's broad nose. Aahh- It's so cool she can't help but make another excited little noise.
"Where I live everything is like demons. There are normal animals too, but a lot are surprisingly different. His nose is way, way softer." She blurts out this start to her 'long tale' about the not-a-horse she has met before.
no subject
"Ah, is that so? So when you said that you'd ridden something "horse-like" before, it's because the animals where you live are different?" His tone carries the fact that he's having trouble imagining it. Different how?
"And you said that there are horses in stories?"
no subject
"Sort of? There are normal animals around like cats and birds and pictures of a lot more in the library. Like Giraffes!" Look, she doesn't know he doesn't know about the wonder of giraffes. "There are just more animals around."
She looks Mikuniguro up and down, trying to figure out how to put into words just how different the demon-horse was from the one in front of her. "The horse-like creature had six legs, for one..."
no subject
"Six legs! Haha- I wonder if that would make them run slower or faster. ...I can only imagine their legs getting tangled up as they run. A four-legged gait is quite elegant, after all." Giving Mikuniguro's neck a firm pat he asks, "Would you like to try riding him?"
no subject
Emma laughs, trying to remember it. "It's hard to explain! I can only assume they are as fast as a normal horse. But they definitely were fast." And somehow didn't break it's legs while running over uneven ground and roots. Fantasy animal biology is very mysterious. At the offer she steps back and looks allll the way up at the height of the animal.
"I don't even know how I would climb up!" This isn't a no, but holy cow.
no subject
"Why, I would lift you up, of course!"
Mikuniguro is a large horse to match his large master; his back is almost even with Tonbokiri's shoulders yet it would be no trouble at all for him to lift her up.
Tonbokiri hesitates for a beat then adds, "Although, if you would rather not, I could certainly find a chair or something for you to step on." Although, it would probably be a stretch for her to mount by herself even with that.
