Event Two.

Old age will come and it's not kind. And when you go, as go you must, You yourself will make more dust!
They only have a bit of time to try to figure out what, exactly, it wants from them -- and then things begin to happen. Welcome to Awash's first event log, everyone! Further information on this event can be found here at the OOC post.

t hasn’t been long since you’ve arrived. The dust has settled, so to speak. And there is… a lot of dust. The town is in disrepair. Some efforts have gone into making it a bit better, but it’s going to be a lot of work, there’s no denying that. There are only a few livable buildings right now, and even those are prone to letting the rain in, or missing stairs to the clearly present second floor, floors crumbling or creaking.

[You know what's unfortunate? Walking past a house and almost getting crushed when the roof overhanging the front of the house just casually falls. Minato was walking, hands tucked into his pockets, when the shingles overhead come crashing down--it's only by sheer chance that he manages to dive out of the way just in time.
Maybe he crashes right into your character, or maybe your character has to avoid those shingles? Or they were on the roof because there are so many batman types here apparently.
Either way, yikes.]
b --
[It's been a long, long week of cleaning and trying to piece things back together; it's very Minato to try to help out however he can. He's been here or there, putting things back together or cleaning or helping prop people up when things get too serious, grim, etc--
But eventually it takes way too much of a toll, especially because he's.
Well, Minato.
And sleep is an amazing thing.
So in some random tucked away corner, he can be found snoozing away, headphones over his ears--maybe tucked against a random wall, by a pile of furniture that's been smashed to bits by an enterprising and angry townsperson... you get the idea. It's probably not a safe place to sleep, though, and there's definitely some furniture or houses squawking at him for it, pointing out his laziness and apathy and general lack of effort and energy.
He doesn't seem to care though. Wake him up? Join him for a nap? It's a little chilly outside, but it's probably fine.]
c --
[wildcard! hit me up at
b
So, he's low on sleep, but seeing Minato out here in the streets curled up behind crates and a couch someone threw out of the house (maybe to shut it up?) is just sad. His sigh sounds with his footsteps, and he drops his jacket over Minato's sleeping body.]
At least cover yourself up a bit more so you don't freeze to death. [Whether he wakes up or not, Guren says this, pausing with a hand on his hip to give the nearest trash-talking crate a hard stare for what it's saying about Minato.]
no subject
But admittedly it's a little chilly, and it's an automatic, subconscious reaction to immediately tug that jacket a little closer, huddling under it. He stirs, but...slowly.
Give him a minute.
As for the crate, well... it's a chattery crate, like all of the Town's usually totally not sentient inhabitants. It's pretty pathetic sleeping the day away because it's easier. If you cared a little bit more, maybe everyone else would've cared more too.
Minato, for his part, just...yawns, squints at the crate, then at the coat his fingers are still holding onto, and then at Guren.
Give him a moment, he's...processing all of this.]
no subject
[Guren being here, staring down at this sleepy boy, is not helping with the noise problem at all. Eventually, some of the parts of the wall nearby begin to speak to him, too.
"Did you run out of energy? You're weak, after all. You're not strong enough."
Things like that, right now, to which he doesn't bat an eye.]
no subject
[Minato murmurs that, rubbing an eye before he stretches. Sheesh, give him a moment, he's slow to wake...!!
And, well... he does have to glance over at that wall, brow furrowed a little.]
So noisy... [Sheesh. And then back to the jacket, which he looks at blankly. Um?] ... Is this yours, Ichinose-san...?

a;
That was close. Are you okay?
no subject
Thank you... I'm okay. [He glances over at the pieces of roof that now inhabit where he was standing before, frowning a little.]
That was dangerous... I didn't think this place was that badly off.
no subject
Yeah, I didn't think so either.
[ He takes a glance over at the roof of that house, and, well... ]
... That wasn't from your place, was it?
no subject
[Minato looks at the broken shingles and...amends...]
At least, it was when I left this morning...
[Yikes.]

Now it's RAINING SHINGLES, HALLELUJAH. Maribelle shrieks, dodging this way and that to try and avoid it.]
Eeeeeek!
no subject
He lunges, grabbing her arm (he'll probably have to apologize later) and trying to drag her (and himself) to safety, one arm over her head to try to block any extremely rude shingles that might still hit her.
Protag instinct, can't be helped.]
no subject
W-what's going on?!

In fact, it brings a moment of panic, which prompts her to rush over and kneel at his side. ]
Arisato!?
[ ...Can he even hear her? ]
no subject
Things he didn't think about: that.
Whoops. At the very least, her panic cuts through the doze that was already admittedly not that great outside like this; he yawns, stirring, and cracks open an eye.
Oh...]
Senpai? [HE'S FINE it's fine. He sits up, stretching a bit.] Is something wrong...?
[Get with the program, Minato.]
no subject
Her relief is immediate.
And his wakefulness is...questionable at best--actually, one wouldn't have guessed she had rushed over yelling by how calmly he rouses himself.
...Was she overreacting?
No, of course not. ]
...No.
[ Sigh.
She'll give him some space, moving to stand and taking a step backwards. ]

Ouni doesn't care enough to, like, move Minato or even wake up him up, but. He probably shouldn't leave the guy here in case he somehow dies.
So Ouni'll just remain perched on a ledge up above, ignoring the whining houses, as he waits.]
no subject
So instead he keeps on dozing, and Ouni gets to hear the furniture pick at him uselessly--
"Sleeping the day away to cope with things is so pathetic."
"Do you even have any emotions? No wonder people don't want to be around you."
"Everyone around you dies--doesn't that make you a cursed child?"
Etc. Etc. Etc.
Minato, for his part, just...sleeps. Thanks, Minato.]
no subject
Still, it's unpleasant to listen to. Better off for Minato that he can't hear this.
Ouni closes his eyes. He doubts he'll fall asleep, but maybe pretending as if he can will help him ignore the voices, and the words not meant for him.]

B
Suffice to say, the older, less patient version of himself is out in full force thanks to the lack of sleep for the past few days. Whenever he manages to sleep for a bit, he wakes up to the sounds of chairs complaining about his true lack of vision, his inability to wash them properly or starting to talk about his life details and how he failed them.
Even with his resolution before arriving here, it's hard not to falter even once.
The sword, sheath and all, gets violently thrown to the ground as he sits down, arms crossed where Minato is sleeping. He's not going to wake the other up. In fact, he's going to keep an eye out for what the furniture is saying, or getting up to casually push it away. By which one means kick away. He's dealt with sentient objects in school before, after all.
What a pain.]
no subject
Minato is going to...keep on snoozing, then! He's tired, and sleep is also an amazing thing, so he doesn't really show any signs of stirring as of yet.
Which means that Nanjo gets to hear the furniture talking shit, especially since it seems Minato may have been sleeping out here for some time now.
"Maybe if you'd tried harder, you could've saved everyone properly. But you've always been lazy, haven't you?"
"You're a failure of a leader. People were depending on you, and you let them down."
"You'll never do enough to make up for the mistakes you made."
It kind of just falls on deaf ears on Minato's end of things, though. For now, anyway.]
no subject
[It's rather crude of the Nanjo heir to speak this way, but then the furniture starts to berate him for it as well.
"You're no better, little master"
"You failed him too, you know."
"What would they say if they knew what you had suggested regarding Maki's fate? What kind of 'friend' suggests that?"
He looks back at then, the anger on his face growing. He knew they were just trying to push his buttons but...it was working a little too well. The guilt he'd carry for both his only true family's death and suggesting killing Maki to save the world were something that could never leave his mind even without furniture talking to him about it.
He raised his hand in the sky, even as bluish energy appeared under his feet.]
Persona!
[ Abe no Seimi appeared behind him, raising his arm to mimic Nanjo as a spell attempted to stop them from speaking.
...it didn't work.
"More examples of failure from the little master who can't even cook or clean by himself..."
He tried it again.
And again.
And after four tries, the spell finally makes them go quiet.
He leans back to the ground, spent from the energy, but looking like he absolutely wanted to murder furniture.]

Can't have him get hurt too, right? There isn't even a medical center around. So he draws nearer, nudging him by the shoulder.]
Hey. Hey, buddy. C'mon, it's not safe to sleep here.
no subject
Minato grumbles quietly at the nudge, but he does stir, slowly but surely, rubbing an eye. And quietly, he lifts a head. Waking up is hard, but...!]
Ah... [Who--oh.] It was Noctis-san, right? [What's up.
(Minato, be more concerned with your situation.)]
no subject
Noctis doesn't stop nudging at him, frowning gently. ] Just Noct. Are you okay? Why are you sleeping here?
