[OPEN] Town Hall Meeting

[ Like much of the town, the old city hall building sits on unsteady legs. Brick and stone chipped away by time, or lack of care, but the building itself is still standing, roof mostly intact. It stands out from the buildings beside it, columns lining along the front windows and dilapidated steps leading up to the main entrance. It needs some work, but it's big. It will do. ]

RESTORATION [ 4/15 - 4/20 ]

[ Unsurprisingly, there's quite a bit of work to be done before people can safely gather at the City Hall for the meeting. If you've been kind enough to volunteer, the week leading up to the town hall meeting will be composed of reconstruction and cleaning. Whatever your skills or availability, there will always be something to do.

The steps leading up to the main entrance are intact, but once inside the main entrance, there are several pillars and debris that need to be moved to allow easier access.

The roof in the main meeting hall has half caved in. Reinforcing that structure will be a high priority.

The meeting hall itself has some broken down tables, chairs, and pews that could be repaired, though others may need to be brought in to accommodate everyone.

The rooms and corridors are generally dirty and could use some sprucing up.

And these are just some of the ways you can help! Please lend a hand or assist someone else you've run into. ]

[Well, if there's anything Izuku's good for, it's clearing out all the heavy stuff so the rest of the clean up can proceed. He immediately makes a beeline for the heavy pillars, squatting down next to one.]

Someone want to get the other side to help me keep it balanced? [While he could technically carry it by himself, he'd rather not risk slamming the pillar into anything around them.]

[When he isn't moving the heavier things around, Izuku's busy swiping the dirt and dust off of any surfaces with cleaning rags.]

[Having offered up a suggestion on the forum, of course Nyx is volunteering to help. The lack of having any serious physical work was starting to make him a bit antsy, so moving debris out of the way or carrying supplies for repairs is enough to keep his head clear.

He stares for a bit at a dusty, crumbling display cabinet, arms crossed and chewing thoughtfully on his lip before calling across the room.]

I don't think we can salvage this, we should probably just break it down for materials for something else.

[ Noctis comes over, of course, having spotted his glaive on the other side of the room. He's volunteered to help, too; Ignis is somewhere close by, just out of range but he decides to assist all the same. The prince eyes the display cabinet along with him for a moment, scratching at his head briefly. ]

Sure. So, careful dismantling?

[Guren is here every day to help clear things out. Moving things, repairing things, voicing his thoughts on where things should go. But for the most part, he's quiet. He doesn't talk much to anyone and focuses on his work.

Well, his shadow wants to ruin some of that, apparently. This shadow nonsense has only just started, and it's already a huge pain in the ass. Guren is incredibly fast— but you can't outrun a shadow. So, when he's just re-entered with arms full of supplies to reinforce the whole building, he can't stop it at all when his shadow pushes forcefully at his back and sends him tumbling forward.

Towards Nyx. He at least chucks his supplies in the air as he falls to make sure nails and boards soar over the guy instead of into him, but he's falling face first. Goodbye pride.]

MEET & GREET [ 4/21 ]

[ You'll be seeing plenty of familiar faces and several new ones. A notebook, a pen, and some pins have been provided. If you would, you can write your user ID on a makeshift name tag. Feel free to introduce yourself to others.

There are also a few refreshments available thanks to other kind volunteers. If you have something to add, please feel free to share with others. ]

[ dave has very helpfully doodled "dr. d sizzle, esquire" on his name tag.

that is neither his name nor his user id. eventually someone might convince him to actually slap the correct thing below it, but...

he can't help himself filling out something stupid on automatic. ]

[While Izuku has very dutifully written out his user ID (#FFDF00) on the nametag just like was recommended, he's added a few other things. Izuku Midoriya, Deku is also written in neat letters, helpfully.

And, because he's a fanboy and can't help himself sometimes, Izuku adds an odd doodle consisting of two spikes right on top of his name. There! Now it's perfect.]

[Nyx had largely kept to himself, at first. Hunting or foraging where necessary but still wary in the wake of his last memories before this town. Wasn't sure if he was still supposed to die or not now that he's presumably out of the reach of the old Kings. But after nearly a month he's still breathing and the stranded citizens like him are banded together to survive whatever comes next.

It reminds him of home. His home, not the city or people he'd been defending for the past ten years. What kind of Galahdin would he be if he didn't throw himself into making sure this newborn community survived?

He'd written his ID (#273299)on his tag, followed by Nyx Ulric and now that the meeting is getting together he decides to introduce himself to more of his neighbors.]

It's good to see a lot of us are getting behind working together.

[ dave, forever pale, is somehow paler now but doesn't seem too worried about it. he does raise his hand here, though. ]

I guess I am kinda one of two dudes doin' the whole gardening schtick? So. I will be...that. Old McDonald had a farm, except in this case it's young hot Strider, etc. But like, if you find seeds or some new kinda plant, you can toss it my way. Our way? Like. I can kinda make shit grow faster so that's a thing which I am capable of doing. I am contributing to the whole, I get a participation medal once we make 'em.

The harbor has a lot of fish.... weird ones, but still edible. I'm pretty good at fishing so I've been catching them to cook, but if someone who knew how to preserve them helped, we could probably build up a supply of dried and salted fish!

I also have a couple of spare fishing poles I found-- if anyone else knows how to fish, they're welcome to have one.

BASE OF OPERATIONS

[Izuku sits up when this topic is brought up, though he hesitates before actually speaking up. It's not that he's not used to speaking in front of people, but this is a little more formal than just answering a question in class or bringing up a suggestion during a practical exam.]

I've been keeping notes on things people have run into in the forest--the creatures and magical landmarks--and what to be aware of if anyone encounters them again. If it would help, I could compile everything that I have and what everyone else is willing to tell me to keep an updated list on the forum.

DESIGNATED DEFENSE FORCE

[Now this he has no problem speaking up for.] I'd like to volunteer.

Also...[A pause, gaze flicking off to the side for a second before he presses on.] I think it'd be a good idea to have someone managing the defense force, especially during this first stage. If no one else wants to volunteer, I think Ichinose-sens--I mean, Ichinose-san might be a good choice. He's already familiar with the skill level of a lot of us here.

Vriska Serket was turned to stone a couple of weeks ago. No matter what magic any of us have tried, we haven't been able to get her to turn back to normal. I'm sure it's her, though; her hexcode username is still the same, and she's otherwise nowhere to be found.

SHADOW PLAY [ 4/17 - 4/21 ]

[ Well, this is during the third event. The windows may be broken so the light that comes through will be distorted at times, but shadows are still very visible on the walls and floors of the city hall. Are there distractions during the meetings? Have you noticed something go missing or appear behind someone else?

Shadows don't stop for politics.
