I. Bluo | Bat Fishing

[If anybody happens to be at the pier today, there's Valvatorez in what seems to be two additional capes. One orange, and one green with his own personal black cape underneath it. His attempt to fish like humans do landed him much bigger fish than he personally wanted.

So today he's shifting his form to many bats, and soaring over the water, grabbing whatever fish happen to be near the surface and depositing them into the ice house. He'll continue doing this for the rest of the day, unless somebody wants to talk to him.]

II. Well | Quest 31

[He's still dressed in three capes, the newest two still clash horribly.

He's definitely looking at something as he hovers around the well. Sure, he arrived with a crate of them, but that doesn't mean he wants to give them up. The sardines here are bizarre colors, and the ones he gets out of the ocean are strangely mutated.

At the same time though... the people in this town are technically his allies. He doubts they would be so willing to give things up to the well because of a quest.

If somebody is close by, he'll ask them.]

What do you think? Would it be worth it to sacrifice something precious?

[Val that's a can of sardines.]

III. Edge of the forest | Quest 29

[You know what the skeletons are really boring. He's out here smacking some of them with his sword and trying to get them to attack him better?] You're not putting any weight into your swings! Are you really trying to attack? Even a prinny would put up a better fight than you! Their aptitudes are awful!

[He just picks one up. It barely struggles in his grip- he throws it at another and they both seem to crumble.]

I was hoping you'd explode.

[ ah, valvatorez. zelda wasn't thinking of doing it herself, but... ]

I don't know. Honestly it's hard to say without knowing what the reward is. [ because the town does give out very, very stupid rewards. but she does look to his hand where he's holding the can of sardines, and then back to him. ] Are you... thinking of tossing that in?

[He stares down at the can in his hand and holds it just a little tighter.]

I don't want to, but it seems a good idea to make sure each of the quests get fulfilled.

[But his precious can of sardines...! Non mutated, non orange sardines!]

It's doubtful anyone else will agree to the quest's terms without some idea of what the reward is.

[ ... he's... really serious... ]

If you are considering, the quest does require a witness to be present for the act. I am willing to act as your observer to this fulfillment. But you must think carefully.

If it's for the good of the town... I'm willing to sacrifice my sardines.

[He sounds honestly heartbroken about it though. Now that he's said the words out loud, he's honor bound to them.]

[It's just a can of sardines. But it's one of the few things that he has from home. A nice, simple way to restore his power without the off-putting orangeness of the local sardines.]

[ oh. oh he sounds genuinely upset about this. now she feels a little bad for thinking little of this sacrifice at first. zelda breathes in and rolls her shoulders, staring down to the well. ]

Shall I say a prayer before you send them off?

[ Nothing drags Nico out of hiding than fighting against a bunch of skeletons. Though these ones aren't nearly as much of a challenge as some of the other undead he's trained against. It isn't much of a challenge. He could stand around ordering these guys to fight themselves and just get it over with but if he keeps using his Underworldly abilities, it will drain him.

So he's swinging his sword around, knocking them down easily enough. ]

Are you really trying to give them pointers, Val?

This is pathetic! The least they could do is put some effort into their stabbing. I've trained prinnies that hit harder than these.

[It's insulting! Why did they even bother to come out if they weren't going to put up some fight?]

We're here to defeat them, not train them.

[ He doesn't think the town needs stronger and better trained skeletons trying to get in. The defense force will have enough on their hands with keeping these guys out without worrying about more dangerous opponents. Especially since this is just one of the quests this month. ]

What I want to know is why they have weapons a fighter would use and yet aren't so good at using them. I've trained against better undead than these guys.

We're doing that too.

[Because this fight..... is entirely one-sided. He smacks one of the skeletons with his sword and watches it disintegrate.]

I have no idea. I can't read an undead's past.

[ A swing of his own sword slices the head clean off of one and the rest of the bones tumble into a heaping pile. ]

Most of the time when a undead is risen this way, they come back with whatever they were buried with.

[ Clothes tend to disintegrate but weapons are hardy. ]

If this is how they fought in life then it's no wonder they're dead now.

[ Alright, time to find the source for the increase in native fish (S) levels at the ice house, so here is Honebami at the pier.

So many bats... ]

[ Just. Calling out to the bats over the water because he can't find their master. Maybe they can relay a message. ]

I'm going to try and make niboshi with some of your fish, do want to try some when it's done?

[In all technically he's speaking to Val right now. Once they've finished with their current load of fish, Val himself forms out of the bats.

He just talks like nothing weird has happened at all, because from his perspective this is entirely normal.]

Those are dried sardines, aren't they?

you look like a pumpkin with those capes. That's absolutely why he's staring a little. Then he nods. ]

Yes, you can eat them as, or use them to make good soup for the winter.

[ Fish stock for the tsukumogami and vampire soul... ]

[It's for stat boosts.

Did somebody say... sardines?]

[ Eating sardines chores is better than refining sword, not as great as training and chores.

It's Honebami. You talked about Prinnies and sardines on the forum, so I figured it was you. I'm not sure if these are actual sardines, but I can boil and dry them for something different. Would you like that?

[ if by "talk" you mean "stare at this one-demon shapeshifting, fishing extravaganza in completely unabashed awe", then Valvatorez has one (1) teenager doing just that, looking totally fascinated. as the bats swoop back towards the water once more, he cups his hands to his mouth and calls out: ]

Hey, you're definitely someone from the town, right? There's no way normal bats are this co-ordinated!

[ What's up, familiar teenager. All the bats become a familiar vampire that's in far too many capes that he doesn't even need. ]

That's correct. We've met before, haven't we? The lad with the boss battle?

[ and that... is definitely an interesting combination of a lot of capes. ]

Are you going for the pumpkin colour scheme as a seasonal thing, or do you just really like capes?

Capes are quite comfortable and don't restrict my range of motion.

iv - pumpkins

[So truth be told, Halloween isn't really a Thing™ as far as Eos is concerned, but Ignis has been watching the festivities surrounding the pumpkins in town for long enough that he's started to figure out the gist of matters.

So he's got a pair of pumpkins, and he's got more than enough knives to go around, which means all that he needs is a yellow, and that's why he's on the hunt.]

Ah, pardon me.

[Here goes nothing.]

Might I have a few minutes of your time, for a bit of assistance?

[He's out near the garden and making sure that none of the skeletons get too close to trample on the plants. But it's boring, so he turns as soon as somebody seems to speak to him.]

What do you need?

It's nothing too difficult, really. You've checked the quest board lately, I presume?

[He just sort of assumes everyone does, at this point.]

There's one to be had from carving pumpkins, but success can only be had if it's a partner activity.

[promissum]

That's why all of these skeletons keep coming out of the forest. [He's annoyed by them, but hey this is a different quest, isn't it?]

If you're not a yellow I can offer my services. Do you need somebody to hold the pumpkin in place?

I have two, actually. And knives, as well. If you'd care to join me?

[And producing them is as easy as reaching into the Armiger and drawing them out, accompanied by a shatter of blue-white crystalline light.]
