ONE.

[Though Izuku's been in Chroma for months already, he's never really gotten out of the habit of rising early to start the day. Usually, that means training of some kind out by the forest.

This time, Izuku's hung up a few wooden targets in the trees, while he stands some distance away from them, sparking with his quirk's energy. Every few minutes or so, he'll raise his hand and, bracing himself by gripping his right wrist with his left hand, flick a finger to launch a light wind pressure attack at the targets in succession. Though a couple of them hit, he ends up missing most of them, making him huff in frustration, shaking out his hand with a wince.

It's around then that Izuku turns and notices he has company.] Oh, hey! [The pained look quickly disappears, a sunny smile taking its place, like nothing was wrong.] I'm not in your way or anything, am I?

TWO.

[As much as Izuku likes to train, it's not exactly feasible to be doing that 24/7. (And he knows he'll get scolded if he tried.) So on some afternoons, Izuku can be found in the gardens, still slowly practicing his sewing.

Or rather, he should be practicing his sewing, but instead he's become distracted. Rather than working on his pet project, Izuku's grinning as a fluffy brown cat attempts to pounce on the string he's dragging through the grass or dangling in the air. The pile of fabric and other materials has been left off to the side, abandoned.

The cat, with its sharp hearing, of course, hears someone approaching before Izuku does. It perks its ears, turns and looks right at the approaching stranger. Izuku follows its gaze until he spots whoever's standing there. With a soft laugh, he holds out the string.] Want to join us?

[It's official--this has been put off long enough. Though Izuku had meant to approach All Might before, one thing after another had happened, and...now here we are. Weeks too late, it feels like.

Normally, Izuku would send his mentor a text to meet up somewhere, but with that option gone, Izuku steels himself and just makes the short walk to all Might's cottage. Takes a deep breath. Fidgets nervously. And then knocks on the door. As soon as All Might opens the door, he blurts out--] Can we talk?

[smaaaaaash]

[The knock at the door isn't an unwelcome one -- with All Might suddenly taken from the hectic double life as the number one hero and as a teacher, he's suddenly left with more time than he knows what to do with. More time alone with his thoughts, which isn't always the happiest place to be.

So a visitor is a welcome distraction, and to see that it's Izuku, even moreso.]

Ah, young Midoriya! Of course. [All Might has the sense that whatever this is Izuku's been bottling up, it's important, so he moves to grab his shoes and a jacket.] Let's go for a walk.

One

[On one hand, training is definitely important. On the other hand, Izuku's hands have gone through so much strain. Don't think he missed that way his expression turned to a wince.

Immediately he holds out his right hand for Izuku's.]

You're overdoing it, aren't you?

[inheritance]

[Though Izuku puts his hand in Shouto's without hesitation, his lips are still turned down in what's probably the closest thing to a pout for him.]

I'm not overdoing it, not exactly. If I don't keep increasing the amount of power I'm using for attacks like these, I'll never be able to handle 100% of it safely.

[What a magnificent specimen Izuku you have been holding out on him with your prime cat real estate. How very dare. Ichimatsu is just happening along when the cat notices him, about the same time he notices the cat, and he hones right in on the fluffy feline, taking a moment to register that the voice didn't come from the cat and taking that time to follow the string to an equally fluffy Izuku.]

[He balks.]

I didn't know you had a cat. [But yes, he does want to join you.]

[inheritance]

[Come closer and make up for all the lost time, Ichimatsu! Izuku wiggles the string in his direction again, almost as if he's trying to entice the other guy to join him like he would a cat.]

He's kinda new. [The cat in question rolls onto his back, swiping at the string lazily while Izuku smiles down at him fondly.] I didn't mean to end up with a cat, but he followed me back here while those portals were open around town.

[Here we are again, again.

That is to say that Minato probably scheduled this! But he'll be coming up to meet up with Izuku, hands tucked into his pockets, head bowed politely.]

Hey. Thanks for agreeing to work with me on this.

[It's time... To Train. And also to ditch that stupid Evoker.]

[It's time!! As soon as Minato joins him, Izuku lets go of his quirk, opting to take a break from his training, just for a little while. It's only fair that he give his friend his full attention.]

You don't have to thank me! [Though Izuku's expression seems cheerful enough, there's a quick flicker of... something unreadable in his eyes when he looks at Minato for a second. It's been... difficult. Processing some of the memories he's seen over the past week, and Minato's is definitely one he's thought of often. But... that's on him. Right now, they have to focus on what they came here for.] I'm the one who asked to meet up.

So... I think I have an idea, after thinking about what you told me last time.

Dave | Early October

[Between the heavy memories that had been swapped around just a week ago, the talk with All Might, and the overall mood of some of his friends, Izuku's been pensive and a bit quieter than usual. Somehow, he ends up meandering into Ruga, and the sight of Dave and John's purple house makes him smile.

Then there's the mural... right there. Izuku pauses in front of it, looking up at the All Might silhouette he'd painted months ago.]

I wonder if Strider-kun would want to redo some of this now that we have more color options...

Dude, "Dave" really is fine. [ hey, izuku. dave comes to a stop beside the shorter boy, looking up at the mural. ] We could? As long as you're not too busy with dates you totally didn't give me deets on.

[ he's teasing. ]

[ so most days, calling aigis out like that might not have been necessary--

--but she admits she was distracted by the scene. she didn't want to interrupt izuku's cute cat time... though it looks like she has no choice now, as she moves closer to the both of them. no need for incognito mode when you've already been discovered, after all. ]

It seems I'm always catching you in the middle of something, Izuku-san...

[ how horrible. ]

[ though aigis has a good idea of the answer already, and he had asked, it's good to make sure that she's not infringing on any private time izuku may have wanted to have. ]

I don't mind, Aigis-san! I'm always happy to have another chance to talk to you. And, um, Deku doesn't mind either.

[The cat in question just circles around Aigis curiously, wondering why this person doesn't have any kind of scent?? Weird. Confused, the cat meows and paws at Aigis' leg.]

[ She couldn't help but stare at the cat. It's a really pretty cat. And it looked like it was having so much fun with her friend and the string!

Kohaku almost didn't hear the boy ask his question. She perks up, and smiles, laughing a little sheepishly. ]

Sure ...

[Izuku's smile just widens as he gestures at the cat, who's still watching Kohaku with all the curiosity that cats are known for.]

Maybe you can help me keep him occupied while I try to finish some of this. [He's a needy cat! Izuku passes the string over to her, giving her a once over with curiosity of his own.] I don't think we've met before. I'm Izuku Midoriya!

but he hasn't seen some weird kid flick with his fingers to hit targets, what the heck. there was a reason he had come out here, yes--but that gets. a little deterred by what he's watching. )

Hey. ( since izuki greeted him-- ) How'd you do that? Do you have like. . super strength just in your fingers? Weird.

[Though Yuu startles him just a little, Izuku recovers with a quick look and smile over his shoulder.]

Something like that! I use the strength to create wind pressure. [He holds his scarred hand up, wiggling his fingers a little.] I'm only using my fingers right now to work on my accuracy.

pumpkin carving!

[So Izuku is probably just minding his own dang business, walking along. Unfortunately, he's going to be stopped by someone holding a long wooden staff out into his path, pointing directly at him.]

Hey! Do me a favor and help me carve this up?

[She nods in the direction of a pumpkin, sitting innocently on the ground among, uh, knives.]

The name's Sadie, by the way.

Wah! [He's just minding his own business! Why is there suddenly a staff pointing at him??]

Wh-what? [It's an odd enough request that Izuku can't help but gape at her.] Why me?

Nico | Quest 29

[inheritance]

[Though Izuku's still juuuust a bit sleepy from his trip into the well the night before, he still manages to wake up on time and make his way over to the town hall to meet up with his quest partner.

No one's here yet, so Izuku just leans right against the door to wait, stifling a yawn as he does so. He looks up hopefully when he hears someone approaching--someone he hasn't seen before, either. So that must mean--]

di Angelo-kun, right?

[ He isn't much of a morning person so hence the afternoon jaunt with a stranger. Nico's only just managed to role out of bed himself before heading over. Probably not the best way to go kick some skeleton ass but here they are. As far as appearances go, Nico looks like he could belong here in Chroma with his black and white clothing. The most colorful thing about him are his brown eyes and olive skin tone.

Since he has no idea what Izuku looks like, he can only assume that the guy waiting by the door is who he's here to meet. Which is made obvious when the other speaks his name. ]

That's right. You can just call me Nico. [ di Angelo-kun sounds weird to him. Plus hardly anyone calls him by his last name. ]

Shouto | Quest 28

[Izuku, being Izuku, decides to go all out in his pumpkin carving, to no one's surprise. What he's chosen to carve into the pumpkins is also probably not a surprise to anyone who knows him. Aside from the finished ones with the All Might silhouette (expected), and with Hawks' feathers (also expected), there's a special one that Izuku's painstakingly sketching out first as he sits with Shouto out on the grass.]

I've never done pumpkin carvings before. [Izuku muses, pausing in his work to tap his pen against his cheek.] I always thought they looked fun, though.

[It's not even the slightest bit surprising Izuku's chosen to carve pumpkins with hero themes... None of them are really spooky, but they all fit Izuku.

Shouto's still in the middle of gutting his pumpkin- it was bigger and fuller than he was really expecting.]

Really? You seem practiced.

Sidon | Quest 28

[Since everyone seems so excited about the Halloween festivities, Izuku can't help but get caught up in the spirit, too. Pumpkin decorating isn't so difficult for him--not when he's already got clear ideas of what he wants to carve--once he's practiced a couple times; by the time a few days have passed, Izuku already has a handful of them to spread around town as decorations.

He's just passing by the docks, wondering where to leave the last one, when he pauses and decides the docks look sad and empty like this. And so the last pumpkin--covered in feather carvings--gets placed at the edge, almost like it's watching the waters for threats like the sirens that had appeared before.]

There! [Izuku props his hands on his hips and surveys his handywork.] That should do it.

Shiho | Quest 28

[inheritance]

Sooo. [There's a little smile tugging at his lips as he surveys the pumpkins he and Shiho have gathered and dropped onto the kitchen table.] If we're going to cook after this, we should save a few of the smaller pumpkins!

Are you planning to cook for Akashi-san? [In the end, it doesn't matter who Shiho's planning things for, really. He just thought it'd be funny if the two of them ended up trying to cook for and surprise each other around the same time. Besides, Izuku's just happy that she asked him for help--any time spent with his friends is always nice.]

[Shiho’s actually taking this all seriously (for once).]

Smaller.... because they’re more tender?

[Though the moment he asks her who she’s cooking for she at least has the decency to look a bit embarrassed. Who invites people over for dinner when they can’t even cook?! (She does.)]

It’s for Arisato-san, actually. [If it was for Kaoru, she’d just borrow Rin’s or Caramia’s tools and make one of their dishes because it was so much easier.] I invited him over for dinner so I thought I should learn how to cook instead of... making everyone else do it?

[Though now that she thinks about it, maybe she should invite Izuku too. That way there would be more edible food and less of hers? Also more people at a dinner was always a good thing, right?]

Kisa | Quest 28

[Even if Halloween's something Izuku's never actually celebrated before, it doesn't take much for him to get into the spirit when everyone else is so excited. Besides, he's always wanted to try pumpkin carving!

He's...maybe a little too enthusiastic about it, though, having grabbed way too many pumpkins for himself as he finds a nice, shady spot in the gardens to settle down. Just as he's starting to sketch out his first design, though, he notices her standing off to the side.]

If you need a pumpkin, you can take one of mine. [Smiling, he gestures at the pile next to him.] I have way more than I need.

[ Oh. Is that... really okay? Kisa looks at him a little uncertainly. Sure, there's a lot of pumpkins, but he's not going to use them all? ]

Percy | Quest 31 | Mid-month

[inheritance]

[Dave isn't wrong about this quest giving off a creepy sort of vibe, and yet here Izuku is, staring down into the well out of a sense of curiosity that's only grown since he and a handful of others stayed in there overnight.

The well doesn't give him any answers, no matter how long he stands there--and Izuku only looks up when he hears someone approaching from behind.]

Oh, Jackson-kun. [Izuku turns toward him once he realizes who's there, greeting him easily.] Hey.

[He hasn't heard about what nonsense the well's doing, not really, but one of the quests this month definitely caught his attention. Sacrifices aren't a new concept to Percy and while he's not sure how he feels about offering things to a well, he can't help but wonder if there are parallels between here and home he just hasn't noticed.

Of course, someone's already there and when Izuku looks up Percy waves in response.]

Hey. See anything interesting down there?

[ Akechi had been in the garden to check on the coffee berries he and Akira had planted a while ago, but as it turns out, he too, he ends up getting quite distracted at the sight of a cat. How many of those were just hanging around Chroma, really...? ]

Ah, if that's really all right with you...! [ He answers the invitation with his usual smile, dusting himself off before heading over to Izuku and his furry companion. ]

Is that cat yours, Midoriya-kun? It's quite lovely.

[inheritance]

Yeah. [Izuku's smile grows fond as he looks down at his companion.] I guess you could say that. He followed me back here from one of the portals that opened.

[And he offers the string to Akechi, the cat's eyes watching the action with interest.] Want to keep him occupied for a bit? I don't think he's ready to stop yet.

[As common knowledge dictates, it's the cat who decides when playtime is over!]

[Trick or treating...pumpkin carving...those weren't Japanese traditions, exactly, but she could recognize Halloween themed quests when she sees them. She doesn't have a costume but she does have that unicorn pin from that one quest a while ago. That would have to do.

So if Izuku answers the door when Kaoru knocks he'll see her standing there, in her regular clothes (that she brought from home!) and sparkling. There's a small package floating just over her shoulder.]

Trick or treat!

Akashi-san! [Though the sight of her automatically brings a smile to his face, there's a lot that's going on here. His eyes dart from her sparkling skin to the package that's floating behind her before they settle back on her face again.]

You're looking extra bright today. [He's still not sure what's going on, but it is amusing to see the effects of the unicorn charm on someone else.]

All Might & Guren | 10/6

[It's early morning when Izuku gets to the edge of the forest with his two companions for the trip. Even with All Might and Guren going into the forest with him this time, though, Izuku can't help but feel a little apprehensive? Running into danger in the forest has become something that the frequent visitors are used to, but this time, there's an unknown variable.

Izuku lets the yellow stone sit in his palm, catching the early morning light, before he closes his fingers over it resolutely.]

Okay, let's go in and see what we find.

[smaaaaaash]

[All Might's here! And fully in costume for whatever the forest might throw at them, with or without the stone. He has that confident grin on his face the same as ever, even if only to hide the apprehension about letting Izuku come along for something that could potentially be very risky.

He can't coddle him if he wants him to grow, however, and if anything dangerous happens both he and Guren will be right there. So he gives him an energetic pat on the shoulder and a thumbs-up.]

Yes, let's go! Don't forget to keep that stone close to you, no matter what!

Shouto | 10/9

[inheritance]

[When Izuku wakes up this time, it's alike a thick fog's been lifted from his mind. He stays silent for a moment, letting himself remember what had happened in the last few days. Everything feels...muted. Somehow. He remembers the forest, the sudden weight bearing down on all of them, and the alarming way their color had drained from their bodies at the same time.

Then, after that...Shouto's worried face watching him, though Izuku had felt nothing at the time. Guilt chases on the heels of the realization--he'd asked for All Might and Guren's help and had gotten them in trouble. He'd made Shouto worry again.

Wordlessly, Izuku turns onto his side so he can slide his arms around Shouto and press himself closer.]

[glaciers]

[It's been far too many moments of worrying over his boyfriend, honestly. After this he feels like he needs to pay way more attention to who Izuku is doing things with. Of all people, he thought All Might and Guren would keep Izuku from doing something foolish- but no. They're all the same breed of impulsive.

Shouto leans into Izuku's touch, worry still gnawing in his stomach.]

Ochako | Quest 28

[What do you get when you have two students from U.A.'s hero course carving pumpkins? Hero themed jack o' lanterns, of course. It's inevitable, especially with Izuku in the mix.

Izuku, who's getting a little too serious about the carvings. He's hunched over his pumpkin, painstakingly sketching out a familiar pair of goggles next to the coil of the capture weapon that he's already finished drawing.]

Which hero did you pick, Ochako-san? [He doesn't even take his eyes off his pumpkin for a second.]

Thirteen!

[She says his name so! Excitedly! It's no secret that he's one of her favorite heroes; it's why she, too, is bent over her pumpkin, eyes narrowed as she carefully sketches the top part of his round helmet. But... oh, wait. As soon as she completes the perfect curve, she casts a sheepish glance over Izuku's way.]

It's not really a surprise, is it? But I do think he'll look great on a pumpkin! I'll puts lots of stars around him—oh, and planets, too! It'll be like he's really in space!

[Look, she loves that marshmallowy hero...]

Ari | 10/5

[Considering the number of times Izuku tends to drop in and see All Might without warning, it's inevitable that he'll show up when All Might isn't actually there at least a couple times.

That doesn't mean the house is empty, though. Far from it. Izuku pauses in the kitchen, looking surprised when he finds someone else already in there. Someone that isn't All Might.]

Hi! [It doesn't seem to matter to him, though, quickly as the smile returns to his face.] Do you live here, too?

[ Ari is certainly surprised when another boy walks into the kitchen—although maybe not as much as he could have been. This is very similar to the way he met Toshinori, after all: Ari had arrived here first, and Toshinori walked in later without initially noticing Ari was there.

It happens. Ari has a bad habit of blending into the background. In fact, if he doesn't project his voice, it's strangely hard for people to hear the words he's saying. ]

> "Hello."

[ He smiles back, a little puzzled but not outright alarmed. Thus far his experience with other Chroma residents has been largely positive, and he doesn't mind meeting new people even if it's sudden and in the comfort of his own home. ]

> "Yes, I live here?"

[ Too, the other boy had said. Was he here to see Toshinori? ]

> "Sorry, but he's not here right now."

Tonbokiri

[inheritance]

[It's no secret that Izuku has a curious streak a mile wide, not when it's one of the first things that people notice about him. While Izuku has no idea if that played into Tonbokiri's decision to approach him about his idea, he wastes no time in jumping on board.

Which leads them here, to the forest again.]

It's a good thing these skeletons are so slow. [Izuku easily dodges out of the way of one of them. It wouldn't take much to just... knock these thing over for the quest, but they're technically not here to fight them today.] Otherwise we'd end up having to fight a bunch of them on the way in.

[He can't say Midoriya's curiosity played no role in the decision to go on a small expedition!

So, yes. More forest, and more mysterious pathway.
As for the skeletons, he doesn't even unsheathe his spear for them. He just takes them out with a solid blow to the spine. (Not with his fist. That feels weird to him.) 'Technically' not being here to fight them doesn't matter.]

Better to destroy them now, though, before they even have a chance to get to town.
Not that I am too worried about the others in this instance. Did you know, even Asano-dono took the head off one. [By flailing, but he can spare that detail.]
