Event Ten.

Little Willie, mean as hell,
Pushed his sister in a well.
Mother said, while drawing water,
"My, it's hard to raise a daughter."

t's pretty dark and miserable down in the well. The cavernous area feels much larger than a well should be, bodies milling about in the darkness and knee deep, frigid water. So you're here -- and you're not alone, and the only way out appears to be the thin circle of sunlight from above, the opening of the well.

(And elsewhere, in the Town, everyone's waking up to gifts of various usefulness, but hopefully they remember to check the well today even so!)

Welcome to Awash's tenth event log, and the intro log for this month, everyone! All new characters have found themselves waking in the well in the middle of the Town. Hopefully they can get a hand out! For more information, please go here!

[That's very generous, and Reim murmurs a few thank yous here and there as they continue through the trees. Upper management is staying behind a desk and not having to see dirty nature, that's the important part.

It takes him a moment to really process the offer to carry him, busy as he is ducking around another branch. Ah--?]

I-- hmm. [Well, it's not an automatic no. He is doing even poorer than he expected, being injured, and Jion looks no worse for wear at all...] "Like" is a strong word... When you say "carry," how do you mean?

[He'd have to draw the line at princess carrying, for the sake of his pride.]

How am I meant to name my terms as the employee when the employer has hardly put in the effort to give me a job description? Honestly!

[He'd be writing stuff down, but he needs one hand to keep this hanky on his face, so not today. Sad.]

[Legends... Reim doesn't feel very legendary, oozing from the face and aching all over as he is, but he'll take it. It could be worse. He manages a feeble half-smile, trying his best to look like he's not in a great deal of pain.

[No, hold on, slabs of meat paired with that kind of warning are definitely something that should be explained--]

In that case, I'll never be setting foot in there. [He says it automatically and without any apparent shame; screw fighting, he doesn't need that, ever. But it's with a pang of disappointment that he looks away from the line of trees to Percy annnd the meat.]

[No, let him boop. Later, he'll do it again. He's mystified more by the touchpad than the screen changing, for a moment - what the hell, what the actual hell, it's just a flat thing - but ah.

Reading material. This makes up for the "science and technology" explanation, because the most advanced technology Reim knows is like, giant batteries full of liquid. Maybe telephones.]

[magic is still fake but summons, those are real, hold on--]

[It must be an invitation to be friends, because that gives Reim a fair enough excuse to come by at a later date and express his deep concerns about dust and how crap this house is. Later.]

I'm told they don't mean anything in particular. [He was... kind of hoping for ciphers... alas.] I suppose it's convenient to have this much provided to us.

[ What an obvious question... Though it didn't get Valvatorez to stop walking. ] Of course it does.

[The response is automatic -- a flashy smile and a heroic stance, all for a fan (or a friend of a fan, same thing).]

Yes! I am here, ready to save everyone in this colourless situation!

[... It doesn't quite have the same ring to it that just straight up punching villains does, but ...]

[PROGRESS. Hunk is a patient soul, he can do this all day.]

From experience, it always seems to take a strong girl to keep boys in line.

[ She does not even know what a squiddle is, so that would be a whole extra conversation he'd have to toss her way.

It's a sort of communication device - you can use it to send messages to all the other people stuck here. Only works inside the house, though.

[ apparently, it usually has more functions, but he'll be damned if he knows anything about that - the short explanation is enough to cover everything it does here. He takes a step back, inclining his head slightly in a "lead the way" gesture. ]

And you do stand out. I didn't think I'd ever get to see a second gem. [ a beat - he's looking at their hair and trying to make a guess on what jewel they are. It would be easier if he could hold them up to the light like a regular gem, but!! ] Lapis lazuli?

[ uh oh ]

[ She doesn't mind the staring so much. In another life, she would have worked that to her advantage one way or another -- if she's not stealing diamonds and Egyptian artifacts, she's stealing hearts, and the truth of the matter is that Selina loves the attention. ]

That's the one. [ See, Selina actually found him sort of charming, but that's just her. She's a big sucker for something cute and furry. ] He's a grumpy little thing. There's all kinds around here, but a talking cat is definitely an... interesting addition to the town.

[ But at her question, she only shakes her head in response. ]

Oh, don't fuss over me, I'm fine. [ Selina's more than capable of finding her own chair, and she'll pull it up to the table, taking a seat across from the other woman. The offer implies an invitation, doesn't it? She makes herself comfortable, legs crossing under the table and arms folded behind her head as she leans back, the corner of her lips curling into a smile. ] And who might you be?

They're always mischievous.

[ one way or another they were going to play a trick on everyone involved. at this point giorno has already done the fairy thing a few times, he's gonna need a fresh face to keep things less dangerous. ]

I'm more interested in the reward. Are you up for it?

[She doesn't seem like the loud type, which is a mercy on a day that also involves surprise fairy-hunting vampires and everything else going on in this thread. Jotaro crosses the threshold and immediately moves over so he doesn't block the door while he toes his shoes off.]

I guess it means whoever brought us here has the sense to recognize there's safety in numbers. Or they don't want their targets scattering.

[Is that a little gloomy for lunchtime? Did he mention the vampires?]

Huh? [ He hadn't really expected an answer other than yes or no, and Jion blinks at the request for clarification. ] How ... ?

[ A small frown as he looks at his hands. Man, he's never actually thought about carrying people -- he mostly transports injured people, when he has to prioritize speed while accounting for injuries. Now that he thinks about it, maybe carrying Reim is going to be kinda weird. ]

Well, uh. Usually I carry people over my shoulder? Like this -- [ He vaguely mimics a fireman's carry ] -- but it might be hard for you to write that way. So piggyback, maybe? Oh, actually, you'd have the easiest time writing if I carried you on my shoulders, but you'd have to watch out so you don't whack your face into branches.

[All due respect, it's a little hard to not notice or hear the sniffling. A glance to the side means he's made eye contact with Lottie, and her little out burst gets a frown out of RIku, but not before a blush starts to form. Damnit, why is he blushing? It's not like he was caught doing something wrong.

But noticing the state of her clothes and the unfamiliar face, despite his face, he actually ends up turning on is heel and walks towards her.]

[And he's holding out a towel to her, his tone normal despite the hard looks he's giving her. It's not a tissue, but it should help.]

[ rude... good thing he doesn't know what they're thinking. not that he'd be surprised, after all the verbal lashings cairngorm has given him...

although this one seems very different from them. Makes sense - humans are all different, so why shouldn't gems be, too? Their shy demeanor is sort of charming, actually. He does his best not to overwhelm them, keeping a bit of distance and trying to look as reassuring as possible. ]

[ Lupin beckons them along with him, trying all the while to guess what gem this one might be. Some kind of quartz, maybe? ]

Your library is probably better than this one. For some reason, all it has in it are fairy tales...

Let's start with what you're planning to do for blood. Or how you're walking around outside in the middle of the day.

[Because, in Jotaro's experience at least, the former involves murder and the latter is supposed to make this entire exchange moot. Star Platinum's grip tightens, threatening violence if he doesn't like the answers he gets.]

[Reim has a perfect vision of getting whapped in the face with a branch and toppling backwards to his death and frowns, then turns his face down to his notebook to frown at it, instead. Yes, alright... that's a terrible idea.]

Ah-- well, perhaps you could lend me your shoulder, and if I want to write something down, I will stop walking?

[Then no one will topple to their death, and Jion will not have to carry someone trying to use the back of his head as a writing desk. Ideal.]

[Val doesn't even seem to register the feeling of Star Platinum's grip as he swishes his cape in a dramatic declaration. Of fish.]

I eat sardines! They're rich in nutrients like omega 3 fatty acids, potassium and calcium. Since they're lower on the food chain, they have less mercury contamination than other fish. They're essential for staying strong and healthy! You should have some.

As for the other question. Easy. I'm strong.

[ his heart is firmly guarded against seductions...!! ]

It's more of an every man for himself sort of situation, actually. There are some farms about that people have set up - you can take some produce from those. Oh, and once in a while, we receive some mysterious crates full of food for our good deeds.

[ "good deeds" has verbal quotation marks around it. ]

Stay away from any of the foods without color, though. They taste dreadful.
