Pushed his sister in a well. Mother said, while drawing water, "My, it's hard to raise a daughter." | |
Welcome to Awash's tenth event log, and the intro log for this month, everyone! All new characters have found themselves waking in the well in the middle of the Town. Hopefully they can get a hand out! For more information, please go here! |

Really? Here?
[ She takes the letter gingerly to inspect it, though the more she thinks about it, maybe it isn't that surprising. Ignis had moved out to go live with his friends, and that had left her here. She had no complaints about that either way, but she sort of hadn't expected the town to fill the vacancy. Is that how it works...? ]
Um— [ Elizabeth offers the letter back to him in case he wants to keep it, but she steps aside to let him enter ] Sorry. I didn't really expect anyone else to come live here, to be honest. But come in?

I guess it means whoever brought us here has the sense to recognize there's safety in numbers. Or they don't want their targets scattering.
[Is that a little gloomy for lunchtime? Did he mention the vampires?]
no subject
I'm Elizabeth, by the way.
[ Since she hadn't introduced herself in turn, she quickly adds that, but his rather gloomy sentiment makes her a bit more thoughtful, though she ends up shaking her head. ]
...Maybe? I think it's more the first than the second, personally.

That was my great-grandmother's name. She had to change it when she went on the run from the British government, though.
[Yeah, he's a pro at this socializing thing.]

[ Her expression of confusion is unsurprisingly completely genuine, since of ways to respond to her name, that, uh. Is not the one she was expecting. Her eyelashes flutter a little bit as if blinking would clear up the confusion, but she just ends up shaking her head before asking what comes to mind first. ]
...Why did she have to run?

[And then he actually has the good sense to cut himself off, because even in a weird gray town with sirens and fairies it's probably best to work up to talking about zombies and vampires with someone who seems to be on the normal end of people he's met today.]
--some disagreement about how her husband died, during World War I. It got messy.
[Nailed it! And now he's just gonna walk further into the house, because moving will definitely fix talking about his weird-ass family.]

Elizabeth puts her hands on her hips lightly, then shrugs. ]
It hasn't happened for me, um, probably yet. In case you haven't heard, people come from all kinds of times and places here. It was 1912 where I'm from.
no subject
It's still a few years ahead of you, if you make it back there. [Which is probably not good to tell her, pop culture time travel theories being what they are, but fuck it.] I'm from 1988, so it's ancient history. You probably don't wanna talk about wars, though, and I don't remember enough of what we learned about it to give you the right info.
no subject
But like wars, that's a little too heavy of a topic for a stranger. ]
That's fine. It's not exactly important here anyways. You just get used to people from all kinds of places and times.
[ She shrugs, looks around, then not being sure how to continue the conversation, just offers a bit awkwardly: ]
I... was making lunch when you showed up. It's not great, but it's filling. Do you want some?
no subject
Lunch sounds good.
[And now they are roomies.]

It's a simple soup, and it might not taste like what you expect, by the way...
[ She starts to explain as she beckons for him to follow her towards the kitchen ]
There's food here, so we're not starving, but anything that doesn't have color, well... It tastes like nothing.
