Event Ten.

Little Willie, mean as hell,
Pushed his sister in a well.
Mother said, while drawing water,
"My, it's hard to raise a daughter."

t's pretty dark and miserable down in the well. The cavernous area feels much larger than a well should be, bodies milling about in the darkness and knee deep, frigid water. So you're here -- and you're not alone, and the only way out appears to be the thin circle of sunlight from above, the opening of the well.

(And elsewhere, in the Town, everyone's waking up to gifts of various usefulness, but hopefully they remember to check the well today even so!)

What now?

Welcome to Awash's tenth event log, and the intro log for this month, everyone! All new characters have found themselves waking in the well in the middle of the Town. Hopefully they can get a hand out! For more information, please go here!

And if they can’t?

[ but it’s a rhetorical question. sierra already knows what would happen, because she’s seen it. the castle in north window is an example of a community like this done right, with everyone working under a common leader.

common in many ways. riou is a humble boy, but stronger than anyone realizes. they need someone like that here. ]

I don’t mean to mock you, girl. I just believe it’s wishful thinking that everyone will get along forever.

[YOU KNOW. SURE. Worse things have happened to Percy Jackson, and he was happy to be minding his own business when a bird just lands on his head and nests there. He stops moving all together, eyes rolling up to try and see said-bird before there's a resigned sort of sigh.]

Man, come on. Do you have to stay up there? [He doesn't even recognize the bird at the moment, he's just talking to it like he would talk to any creature.]

And there’s really no graveyard?

[ she could just try to reanimate one of the dead bodies if she needed to, though it’s not something she’d love to do. ]

[Mogget remains still for a moment, continuing to consider this whole thing, before he carefully pushes himself to his paws.]

Stay exactly as you are.

[Without any further ado, he leaps from her shoulders to land in the water behind her... but there's a sudden flash of light, a whiff of something metallic, and the sudden splash is, uh, definitely larger than it should be for a cat of his size? Curious!]

Now you may turn about, girl. [A sniff, as though he can't really believe he's about to say this, before:] And you may also climb onto my back, although do take care to remember your prior promise.

[Well, he sounds exactly the same! When Kisa turns around, however, she will see... a lion-sized version of Mogget calmly staring back at her, half-expecting to see her, like, tumble backwards into the water. Surprise!]

[Nice? Sounds fake. And that moment of hesitation, brief as it may be, is enough to make him snort.]

Afraid that I will spend my time loitering on your doorstep? Relax, girl. I have better things to do.

[Well, he'll find better things to do.]

When shall I drop by for dinner?

What humans normally do, I suppose. Whine? Cry? [He stretches his paws out in front of him, rolling his shoulders in a sort of shrug.] Or if I'm exceptionally unlucky, perhaps you will do both.

[Referring to Mogget as "another feline" certainly piques his interest! That paw shake, though? Really? It's mainly surprise that keeps him from scratching the shit out of Caramia's hand, but he snatches his paw away just as quickly as he can. Damn, boy, he just cleaned that!]

That, of course, is assuming that I will want to talk to you. How silly. [He slides his eye closed, seriously considering going back to sleep, before slowly opening them both.] Are you some sort of cat, then? You certainly have the manners of a human.

[Luckily for Natalie, this one's not confused. Yay! Unluckily though it's Percy and he looks at her briefly before he shrugs to himself.]

This is where all of the new arrivals show up, I think. We did it a few months ago, and the group before us did it a few months before that, too. [...so if he's not a new arrival, why the hell is he in a well? That's a great question.]

[Jeez. On the other hand, Percy doesn't seem to care about Yuu's lack of manners or the yelling and he seems to think hard on that.]

Can't say I do, man. Sorry. Have you tried checking the community board by the well? There might be a map or something.

[Even if the woods are creepy, Percy's lingering around the edges, too. It's why he hears the question and he turns to give the other man his full attention for the time being.]

That place seems to have a mind of its own. Plus it's full of monsters. And my dog. [One of these things probably isn't like the other.] Every time we head in there for any reason it doesn't approve of people get turned around and lost sometimes.

Probably because it is, sort of. [If you didn't think the son of a sea god would always find his way back to the water I don't know what to tell you. He's walking at an even pace, seemingly relaxed even with the spooky atmosphere of the ocean in front of him and he approaches the harbor and where Aigis is standing. He watches her examine the water before he speaks again.]

On the other hand it's sort of nice to have around. Water's still water.

Support and combat versatility...

[ she says, almost like an aside. so, more like mitsuru-san? kind of?

she's mulling over that a bit too hard, almost missing maya's apologies--luckily she snaps back into attention, and manages a weak smile in an attempt to be a bit more reassuring. ]

--Oh, um. It's all right. It wasn't as surprising as appearing here-- [ bACKTRACK ] --transferring here suddenly.

[ ...

[He's not the religious type for obvious reasons, but he finds himself passing the church anyway. It's hard not to notice the building, and it's even harder not to notice the man literally sitting at the top of it. Percy stops in his tracks, tilting his head back to peer up at Sasuke before he makes the Very Wise decision to open his mouth.]

I've heard of bats in the belfry, but this is probably taking it a little too far.

[Okay, well, Netherworld is just another word for Underworld, and Percy's familiar enough with the concept to just let that go. It doesn't help that he hears the phrase "too many humans" and finds himself staring at Val for a few seconds.]

What, you've never seen humans in the Underworld before? [He says, having been to the Underworld more than he's ever wanted to.]

[...you know. He can see spirits and ghosts back home when they're summoned so sure, he can see the white cat. He also sees Ryan sitting down trying to decide what he's doing. It's maybe a good thing Percy's dog isn't around even if the cat's a ghost. He's not sure how Mrs. O'Leary would react to that.

Instead, he watches this guy pick up a ghost cat and seem perfectly calm about it. It's the main reason Percy approaches in the end.]

Where are you trying to go? [If Ryan's trying to figure out where he's going, he must have a destination in mind...maybe.]

[All Might WHY ARE YOU SO LOUD. Percy isn't the kind to jump but his hand shifts immediately over the pocket of his jeans before he turns and spots...this guy. Okay. Probably not a threat? Just loud. He just as smoothly moves his hand away and back down to his side as he thinks of the best way to answer his question.]

As far as I know? Guren's running the defense force, but there's a lot of people who are leading their own projects. Looking for someone specific?

[ why yes, aigis would help nigerian princes.

and shiho's attempts to give aigis a Wonderful Revelation gets her only a slight tilt of the head. ]

A scam?

[ that's a no. ]

I'm not very attached to money... and it's only fair to repay you somehow. If it helps us both, I can't see how it's a scam.

[It's a cat. Percy isn't stupid enough to assume it's just a cat after everything he's experienced in his life, but he's also not going to be the one to make any sort of moves. It's why he's reading the map and letting Mogget stare up at said-map, aware of his tail moving and aware that the cat doesn't seem to have any interest in leaving anytime soon.

Once Mogget speaks up though, Percy glances down at him with a raised eyebrow.]

I've been here for a little while, but there's still a ton of ground to cover. Looking for someplace specific? [Is he going to let the cat tag along? Absolutely. Just...don't tell Mrs. O'Leary.]

[In any case, Reim will probably be around the edge of the forest by the time Percy shows up carrying what looks like a couple of slabs of meat. Where did he get them from? Don't worry about it. It's a little weird, but he doesn't seem too put-out as he approaches and watches Reim contemplate his next move.]

Word of advice? Don't head in there until you're ready to defend yourself.

[ she's Tired, but she can manage a small smile at that and everything else. he's very kind... and his lightheartedness makes the more overwhelming parts of this entire adventure a little more bearable.

even if that last part is a little Ominous.

she mulls over things a bit more, until she finally seems to settle on the following: ]

... Is there anything you would consider "essential" to know about this place? I understand that's very vague... I have so many things in mind, it's difficult to get my thoughts together.

[(Rawr- bring it. Literal fights, he'll totally win.)]

[Mm. He's worried that she hasn't found it yet, but that's all right.
There might be some reason why she's not gone there yet, too. Considering how shyly she is acting...]

Do you want to try and find it now? That is, if you want to wait a little longer before meeting your roommates, that is fine. We could do other things before finding your house.

So, do you want to try and find it now? [Asking the question at the end again to simplify it - he doesn't want to misunderstand her answer.]

It sounds as if that forest is alive, in a way.
Perhaps it's only protecting itself.

[ Ari nods, a little cowed by her overall manner. There's an elegance about her that reminds him of royalty. ]

[ He still doesn't understand how or why, but he definitely did come from a well. ]

[ well, he's very familiar with that sentiment and all. it might be more helpful if the other primarchs were here but eh. ]

If that's true, then there must be a reason why we're being kept here. Is there also a reason why everything is ... [ he waves around him. ] Dull?

[ ... well, at least she didn't beat around the bush anymore. ]

... [ a beat. he's not even going to be polite anymore as he had tried to be earlier. ] No.
