Intro Log.

Ding, dong, bell,
Pussy's in the well.
Who put her in?
Little Johnny Thin.
Who pulled her out?
Little Tommy Stout.
What a naughty boy was that,
To try to drown poor pussy cat,
Who never did him any harm,
But killed all the mice in the farmer's barn.

ou wake in knee-deep water, cold as ice and stagnant, in a space that is far too echoey and spacious. It feels like a massive cave, but looking up... there's only one small, circular opening that shows grey sky and shines any sort of light.

It looks like a long trip upwards, a small cylinder with walls of brick that's just a little too high to reach, even when jumping. Getting out is probably going to be a bit of a task, especially considering the water is more than cold enough to make limbs go numb.

The dark makes it impossible to see much further, but the space seems large, all filled with water, but with no other way out, stone walls the only thing for an intrepid explorer to find.

But most importantly of all... you're not alone.

Welcome to Awash's first intro log, everyone! Please review the FAQ and rules before playing. Characters have all woken at the bottom of the well in the middle of the town (which seems a lot bigger on the inside, somehow), and it looks like they'll have to put in some work to get out.

Once out, they'll be free to explore the various locations the Town has to offer at will. Just try not to die on any of the far-too-rickety walkways.

Further information can be found here at the OOC post, and don't forget to greet your fellow players here!

I. What an asshole.
It's one thing to wake up too early, disoriented and irritable but still otherwise warm in your bed and fully capable of tuning out whatever unnecessary noise might have woken you in the first place. It's a whole other when you wake up soaking wet, in the dark, chilled through without even so much as a blanket to pull over your head so you can grumble something about shooting a bullet through whomever decided to pull such a tasteless prank.

It was this second type of unwelcome awakening that Kyrie found himself taking part in, and frankly, he wasn't amused.

The initial jolt of cold had been enough to bring him to his feet, and its continued presence only pressed the matter of urgency in getting out. Finding familiar faces in the crowd was pointless as the darkness worked against him as much as the echoing of unfamiliar voices, and so he opted instead to push himself as far from the others as he could given the circumstance; he brought one hand up before him, snapped his fingers, and in a swift eruption of feathers and deafening caws, a veritable column of crows enveloped him. Between the noise and heat it was far from pleasant, but if it meant getting him out of there? He didn't care for the others' safety so much as his own.

It wasn't until he was safely on the ground above that he peered down into the depths of the well again, allowing his crows to disperse with a quickly waved hand. They weren't dismissed, not yet, and so they settled in the colorless surroundings with a vague unease that echoed his own.

"Hello," he called down, a cheery tone to his voice despite the distinct discomfort in both his eyes and posture. "I don't suppose any of you know why you're all down there?"

Nevermind that he could have taken some others with him...

II. Colorless town? No problem.
As for why Kyrie found himself wandering through the town that was somehow familiar and yet not, he wasn't sure. Although, perhaps that was the reason? He didn't know what to expect, and that alone gave his step purpose, each stride made with misplaced confidence as if consequence didn't matter--so long as he continued to learn of this new environment.

It seemed to be laid out similarly to the town he was used to, albeit in confusing greys that made distinguishing anything more difficult than it had to be, and with far fewer territories. He fully intended on talking a stroll through its entirety though, to better understand its layout as well as poke around until he found something (or someone) particularly interesting. Gotta love that flawless memory--if only someone could convince him to make a map.

III. Wildcard!

II - Colorless Town - Colorful Child

[personal profile] i_cant_die 2018-03-16 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
[For Kyrie, someone interesting was about to appear. Or rather, run into him. A small child in an orange parka ran down one of the streets. He pumped his legs and arms as fast and hard as he could until he suddenly bumped into the man's leg. The kid stumbled and turned around, shooting daggers at him with his barely visible eyes.]

Hrm hrmm hrmm?! Hrmmr hrmmrhm hrmmrh mrhrm!

[Translation: What the fuck?! Watch where you're going!]
crowsigliere: (49)

[personal profile] crowsigliere 2018-03-16 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, brilliant. A gremlin.

Or, no, of course, a lovely, darling child! How terrible.

At the disruption Kyrie promptly moved himself back a step, his narrowed eye a clear sign of his displeasure as he took in the sight of the child before him. As if it wasn't bad enough to be stuck in some unknown place, now he had some brat mumbling at him...? That's... just the worst.

"Why, it appears this town has sentient traffic cones. How repulsive."
i_cant_die: (Default)

[personal profile] i_cant_die 2018-03-16 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
[Traffic cone?! Seriously? Kenny stomps his foot and flips Kyrie the bird.]

Hrm hrm, hrmrhrm! Hrhm hrmmrh hr hrmrhrm hrmhrm mrrhrm!

[Translation: Fuck you, hipster! I'm not a fucking traffic cone!]
crowsigliere: (47)

[personal profile] crowsigliere 2018-03-16 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, Kenny, a traffic cone. Stomp all you like, it won't get you very far.

As it were, Kyrie only paused to let him speak--was it speech, really?--before he raised a brow, chuckling softly as he brought one hand to his chin in consideration.

"Even the idiots I have back home speak more coherently, I can't imagine how immeasurably stupid you must be."

Just insult him until he goes away... that'll work, surely.
i_cant_die: (You're not fun)

[personal profile] i_cant_die 2018-03-16 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
[Kenny line faces and grumbles. He pulls down his hood. You can't be bothered to listen? Fine.]

I can talk just fine, you fucking hipster. How about you shut up before I punch you in the dick? You understand that alright?
crowsigliere: (46)

[personal profile] crowsigliere 2018-03-16 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Excuse?

So the cone has teeth! Kyrie grins, but the hard set of his visible eye is enough to showcase his irritation.

"Yes, and I'm so proud of you. In fact I'll even forgive you for running into me, as I'm sure a brat such as yourself has better things to do than apologize.

Or, if you're looking for suggestions, might I recommend finding someone else to bother?"

[While Kyrie's walking one way, John happens to be wandering another with a similar idea in mind. Or maybe he's just lost?

...yeah no he's probably just lost but all the same the gray isn't helping matters, so when he sees Kyrie ahead of him he jogs up to him and grins lightly. Maybe this guy has an answer.]

Hey. Have you checked out the forest yet?
crowsigliere: (42)

[personal profile] crowsigliere 2018-03-16 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
He doesn't have an answer, as a matter of fact, but that's not important right now!

"No, I'm afraid I haven't." He doesn't make a habit of wandering into the dangerous unknown alone, after all. With company and some weapons? No problem. But as of yet, all he has is a pistol--and that got soaked with weird water, so he's not particularly keen on using it. "It's not exactly the most inviting, though I'm sure some idiots have already ventured in despite that."

windeity: (UNSURE ♫ heck)

[personal profile] windeity 2018-03-16 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I am pretty sure this whole town gives off that whole "uninviting" vibe. [Which is to say he kind of agrees, it's not inviting, and yet.] I was hoping somebody had some idea what was out that way. I'm trying to get an idea of the town before everybody scatters too far.

[...] Do you really think it's stupid to go out that way?
crowsigliere: (73 "Why do you wish to see Oz?")

[personal profile] crowsigliere 2018-03-16 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Fair. Kyrie had already been through a bit of the town by this point, and nowhere seemed particularly pleasant. That could just be the whole 'kidnapped and thrown into unfamiliar nonsense' talking though. Who knew?

"It would depend on how far you intended to go, and who you might bring with you. Given the fact we've no idea why we're here to begin with, there's always the possibility that one of us is the culprit, after all, and wouldn't that be interesting?" Kyrie, no, this isn't the time to be spinning conspiracy theories. At least he doesn't sound too convinced, offering it with only a small laugh, his hands folding themselves neatly behind his back. "Regardless, there are far too many risks involved for it to be a trip made lightly.

The town itself, however, I might be able to assist with."
windeity: (UNSURE ♫ nervous as fuck)

[personal profile] windeity 2018-03-17 07:49 am (UTC)(link)
While you have a point, do you really think someone could fake being clueless like that? [Kyrie, Kyrie no. Don't start with conspiracy theories because John will actually start to wonder himself.] We all woke up in that well and I do not know why anyone would really commit that much but maybe if someone wanted to look like they were harmless they'd join us, too.

[But whatever!!] How much of the town do you know about?
crowsigliere: (to a magic land by tornado.)

[personal profile] crowsigliere 2018-03-18 07:31 am (UTC)(link)
"Of course. Why, I could be doing it right now. It's not as if it's difficult." Kyrie, no you're making it worse. "Perhaps whomever is responsible has a fondness for watching others squirm. Surely you've met someone of that sort."

He offered the boy a smile though, innocent enough despite the gleam to his eye.

"What do you have to offer in return?"

"It's quite easy, if you're a scarecrow." Helpful, Kyrie. If you aren't, then I'm afraid you're out of luck."

He squawks at all the crows diving into the well when he's trying his damnedest to get out, and happens to notice that, in the midst, there's someone being lifted out of the water by all these annoying birds.

Clearly, the best course of action here is to grab onto this guy's calf and try to catch a lift out of here.

One second, he's fine. Lifted into the air, carried up to freedom--

And then suddenly his eyes widen as he's falling, and his only saving grace is that he hadn't gotten very far, because there's some brat grabbing onto him from below. The crows holding him release their grip in a startled croak of noise and, in an instant, the two of them go crashing back down into the water.

In the same instant--or at least shockingly quick given the situation--Kyrie shoves himself away from the boy and draws his pistol from beneath his jacket with practiced ease, tsking under his breath as he pulls the trigger...

...to nothing more than a faint squirt of water. Wet powder's a bitch, ain't it?

"Tch..."

[Ask and ye shall receive-- that is to say, this is Naminé sitting on some fence or bench that isn't completely ruined, a sketchbook in her lap and a box of crayons beside her. She found them inside the house that had the computer she was oddly drawn to, and now she's currently trying to capture some of her memories of the day on paper.

Her gray crayon has already lost its tapered end.]

While the girl herself isn't of any particular interest to Kyrie, the prospect of the book itself is worth a stop anyway. If it happens to be something of use in this world, it doesn't really matter where it comes from.

"Evening, miss." Well, at least it's probably evening. Afternoon? It's so damn hard to tell looking up, but he knows exactly how long they've been here, and it hasn't been that long... "I take it you went for an unexpected swim as well?"

[Naminé glances up and lays her crayon down, giving him a polite, if startled, smile. It's going to take a while longer for her to get used to so many people being around her, to say nothing of them being kind to her right off the bat. It's really the most remarkable thing...]

Good evening, sir. I did, and I've only just finished drying off.

[She really only has this thin white dress, after all.]

"Is that so?" This poor girl. Kyrie, offer her your jacket, why are you such a selfish ass? It might still be faintly damp on the edges, but at least it's probably warmer than what little she has on.

Alas, no jacket is offered. He does, however, move in closer to lean lightly against whatever it is she's perched herself upon.

"That makes the two of us, then." He pauses, tilting his head subtly to glance down from the corner of his eye at what it is she's drawn. "It's a shame this landscape makes for such a terrible subject, isn't it? With no color to draw the eye, it makes for a terribly boring painting." Crayoning? Sure.

I'm afraid so.

[She follows his gaze down to the drawing, chewing on her lip. The white and black crayons are getting a workout too, in her attempts to add some depth and shading to the piece, but it really looks...depressing.]

Maybe if I use the colors I think should be used? But then, that would defeat the purpose of why I'm drawing it at all.
