Intro Log.

Ding, dong, bell,
Pussy's in the well.
Who put her in?
Little Johnny Thin.
Who pulled her out?
Little Tommy Stout.
What a naughty boy was that,
To try to drown poor pussy cat,
Who never did him any harm,
But killed all the mice in the farmer's barn.

ou wake in knee-deep water, cold as ice and stagnant, in a space that is far too echoey and spacious. It feels like a massive cave, but looking up... there's only one small, circular opening that shows grey sky and shines any sort of light.

It looks like a long trip upwards, a small cylinder with walls of brick that's just a little too high to reach, even when jumping. Getting out is probably going to be a bit of a task, especially considering the water is more than cold enough to make limbs go numb.

The dark makes it impossible to see much further, but the space seems large, all filled with water, but with no other way out, stone walls the only thing for an intrepid explorer to find.

But most importantly of all... you're not alone.

Welcome to Awash's first intro log, everyone! Please review the FAQ and rules before playing. Characters have all woken at the bottom of the well in the middle of the town (which seems a lot bigger on the inside, somehow), and it looks like they'll have to put in some work to get out.

Once out, they'll be free to explore the various locations the Town has to offer at will. Just try not to die on any of the far-too-rickety walkways.

Further information can be found here at the OOC post, and don't forget to greet your fellow players here!

[He just scratches his head by way of answer.]

Dunno. About as much as any ol' person, I guess.

Henry, you're going to be left down there...

...No, he should probably bring him up. He can't weigh that much, surely, though Kyrie isn't certain he's willing to put up with someone so... dim. He very nearly reminded him of himself, in a way. Long, long ago, but still himself. And isn't that a terrible thing?

"You mustn't move, else they'll have your eyes and tongue for dinner, do you understand?" It's not as if they're their own entities, but that doesn't mean he's bluffing, either.

[Henry's plenty familiar with crows himself, but the warning can't hurt.]

Aw, if they're that hungry, they're welcome to them!

[Also, it is next to impossible for him to sit still.]

Yikes.

Is it still too late to change his mind...?

"How kind of you. Then, you won't blame me if you don't quite arrive in one piece."

Here, Henry, have some crows. They just sort of take off at a gesture from Kyrie, flying back down and gripping onto the boy's clothes with their talons and it's a very unpleasantly warm and sharp ride but you know what it's gonna get him out of this godforsaken well, isn't it?

Squirming or not, he'll arrive at the top with nothing more than a few potential punctures to show for the journey. He's probably fine.

[Not only does Henry not seem too bothered by his unconventional mode of transportation, he's apparently delighted by it. When they finally deposit him at Kyrie's feet, with only a few scratches to show for his trouble, Henry's grinning from ear to ear in a way that can't possibly be feigned.]

Wow, that was awesome! How'd you get them to do that? They never do it for me!

[Provide a cloak, sure. But carry him places?]

You gotta teach me!

Kyrie takes a step back as the boy lands, to avoid any dripping water. He's already cold enough, thanks. Although the smile doesn't go unnoticed, he only frowns down at him in response, as if he disapproves of the fact he enjoyed it.

"Of course they wouldn't. They aren't fond of listening to idiots."

Speaking from experience here, are we Kyrie?

"Like I said, it helps if you're a scarecrow. If you aren't, I'm afraid it's just not possible."

[Henry makes a show of dusting himself off, though there's really nothing there except for a few stray crow feathers, which he subsequently pockets.]

You never answered me, ya know. What's the point of scaring crows? Aren't they your friends?

Kyrie gives a small scoff of a laugh, starting off at a slow walk and expecting the boy to follow.

"Of course they aren't. They're hardly more than opportunistic thieves, let alone my friends."

Suit yourself.

[After all, they're his friends.]

Maybe you should try being nicer to 'em.

'Maybe you should try being nicer to them' he says, as if they had been anything but bullies in his past. It's only an ironic twist that he can control them now as he does.

But the only outward sign of his irritation at the sentiment is a soft click of his tongue, and a frown that could really mean anything.

"If they provide reason to be, and remain useful in the process, perhaps I might consider it. However, as of yet, I have no intentions of being 'nice'."
