Intro Log.

Ding, dong, bell,
Pussy's in the well.
Who put her in?
Little Johnny Thin.
Who pulled her out?
Little Tommy Stout.
What a naughty boy was that,
To try to drown poor pussy cat,
Who never did him any harm,
But killed all the mice in the farmer's barn.

ou wake in knee-deep water, cold as ice and stagnant, in a space that is far too echoey and spacious. It feels like a massive cave, but looking up... there's only one small, circular opening that shows grey sky and shines any sort of light.

It looks like a long trip upwards, a small cylinder with walls of brick that's just a little too high to reach, even when jumping. Getting out is probably going to be a bit of a task, especially considering the water is more than cold enough to make limbs go numb.

The dark makes it impossible to see much further, but the space seems large, all filled with water, but with no other way out, stone walls the only thing for an intrepid explorer to find.

But most importantly of all... you're not alone.

Welcome to Awash's first intro log, everyone! Please review the FAQ and rules before playing. Characters have all woken at the bottom of the well in the middle of the town (which seems a lot bigger on the inside, somehow), and it looks like they'll have to put in some work to get out.

Once out, they'll be free to explore the various locations the Town has to offer at will. Just try not to die on any of the far-too-rickety walkways.

Further information can be found here at the OOC post, and don't forget to greet your fellow players here!

windeity: (UNSURE ♫ how that works?)

[Ah. He just kind of leaves his hand hanging and he's still grinning but slowly but surely he lets it drop again. Okay then. That's fair.]

Nice to meet you, Kyrie. [A bit skeptically now, but still mostly genuine.] That sounds pretty terrible but wouldn't a tiger eating a lion kind of be like cross-cannibalism? [Big cats eating other cats. I'm sorry this is a real question he's asking.] Anyway whatever, hopefully they are not out there and we will not have to worry about them.
crowsigliere: (66 "...Thank you. Now I can move.)

It's okay, John, you don't have to lie. Kyrie's grin only widens a bit as the boy's hand falls, and he brings one hand up to his chin with a soft laugh.

"Would you call it cannibalism if a hawk ate a dove? Regardless, it's not a tiger, it's a kalidah." Important distinction. "I wouldn't expect them to be present. However, if you're willing to forego the risk, and are confident in your sturdiness, then I suppose I can offer my own skills for a while."

He probably should question how sturdy John actually is just by looking at him, but then he's used to people being more durable than they look.
windeity: (NEUTRAL ♫ he tried)

[personal profile] windeity 2018-03-22 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
[A shruuug.] Fine, a kalidah. It does make you wonder what else we could be up against if there are things like that where you're from. And I am totally confident in my...sturdiness. [It's not how he would have phrased it, but alas.]

It's the only way we will really get answers around here.

Given that he was originally made of straw, the sturdiness of humans is really something he considers worth note. Especially when he, even as a human, remains about as fragile as ever--while Axel, back home, remained as sturdy as the tin he'd been made of. Mark it off as a cultural difference of sorts.

"In that case... I haven't quite made my way through the whole of it yet," he began, turning to nod to the direction he had come from. "But the town itself appears to be relatively sheltered. Locked in, so to speak, all around, be it by water or tree cover. If you venture into the forest, I'm not sure what might be beyond it. While it isn't exactly news, I'm afraid we're very well stuck here."
windeity: (ANNOYED ♫ yeah try that again)

[personal profile] windeity 2018-03-26 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
[...hm. Come along, Kyrie. John's heading toward the forest but not very quickly all the same. The rest of the town can wait.]

Yeah? So we are stuck on all sides and the well was probably the very middle of it. But if we are stuck then there still has to be somewhere that we all entered from to get dumped in the well, you know? A path in the woods or maybe a boat or something that our kidnappers or whoever used to get us here in the first place. That is what I am wondering the most.

Ah, he's walking away. Goodbye, John. It's a good thing he's not walking very fast, because Kyrie has zero intentions of following some unspoken order--and by a child, no less! He didn't even say please.

Regardless of the serious topic at hand, he stays exactly where he is, raising his brows as he looks after him.

"It's incredibly rude to walk away from a conversation, you know."

Hopefully he didn't plan to make any actual progress, here.
windeity: (LOOK ♫ uncertain)

[personal profile] windeity 2018-03-27 10:40 am (UTC)(link)
[There's a pause followed by a perplexed frown. Kyrie please.]

I mean the idea was that you were coming, too, so that the conversation would be on the move. It is way easier that way. [It's not even an order, he's just antsy!! Alas.]

[personal profile] crowsigliere 2018-03-28 09:09 am (UTC)(link)
"Considering I never agreed to go with you, I fail to see how it would be easier--the farther away you are, the louder I'll have to shout."

He says all this very matter-of-factly, as though John is an idiot for not thinking of it himself. Kids these days, expecting any old scarecrow off the street to just follow them...

windeity: (THOUGHTFUL ♫ lines)

[personal profile] windeity 2018-03-28 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
[Hm...]

Well then...I guess we can catch up later. [John???] We also have no idea when it will be dark and stuff so I want to cover as much ground as possible. Is that a better idea?
crowsigliere: (67 No one usually comes by here. I)

[personal profile] crowsigliere 2018-03-29 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
Look, it's fine.

"If you don't die, and happen to learn a thing or two from the forest, I do expect you to hold up your part of the bargain. By that time, I'm sure I'll have more information gathered myself." A pause. Then, "If you do die, then you have my sincere condolences."

He doesn't sound very condoling though, does he...
windeity: (LAUGH ♫ openly)

[personal profile] windeity 2018-03-29 05:14 pm (UTC)(link)
[KYRIE!!! John looks a little perturbed for a few seconds before...he just laughs. Look sometimes at the end of the day you just ignore people being weird and sometimes mean.]

I'll let you know what I find out! [Dying, apparently, isn't an option.] Be careful until then, Kyrie. See you later! [And there's a cheerful wave and off he goes to hopefully not die.]
