Ouni ; spider-hunting

[Calling up Ouni was probably not that surprising for Ouni these days... but Minato's just grateful that he agreed to come with him. Honestly, Minato knows that Jorogumo are actually very dangerous, because he's pretty up-to-date on his folklore from home, but...

He needs the distraction.

Mitsuru is still gone, Ryoji is a stone statue, and even if he thinks it's likely Ryoji will be fine and that Mitsuru went home (thanks to Keith's post), he's still worried.

A distraction via a brawl sounds great to him. So into the woods they go; Minato's being (possibly thankfully, in Ouni's perspective), especially quiet today.]

[In a sense, Minato's more... tolerable than others, albeit in a way that Ouni can't quite decipher (or rather, doesn't want to—it means thinking more deeply about things than he'd like).

He, on the other hand, has no idea what the hell a Jorogumo is, but it doesn't matter, because whatever it is, he'll kill it?? Problem solved???]

Do you know what it looks like?

[For once, Ouni's... actually the one talking...]

[Ouni's talking!! Minato blinks, tilting his head a little as he's shaken out of his reverie, looking at Ouni properly.]

... Oh. Yeah, I think so.

I've never seen one properly, because they're mythological where I come from, but.... [Hm.] It should either be a giant spider or a...very pretty woman.

[Those are two very different things??]

Elizabeth ; geese, why

[Well.

In terms of taking on certain quests, this one seems...less harmless than some of the others? Minato has no idea what his "wishes" might be at this point, and jorogumo are pretty terrifying, so...

Geese!

Minato meets with Elizabeth at the well, hands shoved into his pockets idly.]

... Are geese very fast, do you think?

[They're doomed.]

[ Truth be told, Elizabeth wanted to help with every quest she had seen. It's partially just her personality, since she wants to help wherever she can, but it's also a somewhat obsessive drive to actually experience things. Every day she's in this town, the more real it starts to seem that she's away from Columbia. There's no one coming down from the sky to get her. At least, not now. Her pessimistic side is certain that it'll happen eventually, but until then, she's going to take in everything she can.

She walks up with a smile and even gives a little wave, but the question does make the smile slip. It turns to a frown, but a thoughtful one. ]

I mean, they can fly. So they have to be fast enough.

[ ...But there's a question mark in her tone, because she's never actually seen a goose before.

This Will Be Fine ]

It's definitely becoming very clear neither of them have any idea what they're doing here, but it's...probably fine. Minato just nods firmly, expression contemplative.]

Well... I guess we'll figure it out as we go, right? It's not like we're on a time limit.

[Though neither of them probably wants to spend all day hunting down geese, probably.]

And it can't be that hard. They're just geese.

[ This is said by someone who definitely hasn't been chased around by a vicious goose before. Hopefully they're not dealing with Canadian geese, which are significantly bigger assholes.

But with these votes of confidence, Elizabeth seems at least willing to try, since she smiles and makes a bit of a joke by pushing up a sleeve like she's ready for hard work. ]

So let's go. I'm sure we'll at least be able to find some by the water.

Izuku ; spider-hunting probably gone wrong

[Well. In terms of hunting down spiders, Minato thinks he's probably in pretty good company with Izuku--it doesn't matter that the creatures are pretty brutal, Minato knows Izuku knows what he's getting into.

They're both from Japan, after all.

And so, on the fringe of the woods--]

Are you ready for this, Midoriya-kun?

[inheritance]

Ready as I'll ever be. [Izuku tugs his gloves on as he replies, with a look of determination.]

So it's a Jorogumo this time... the forest really seems to have creatures from all kinds of cultures.

Right?

[Minato shakes his head.]

I wonder what sorts of monsters we'll end up fighting next...? It's hard to say.

[But into the woods they go...!! Minato holds his sword at his side, but otherwise seems relatively relaxed as they step in.]

Could be another kind of youkai. We've run into a few things things from Western cultures already. Banshees, minotaurs, harpies...maybe we'll run tengu or kappa next?

[Despite the light tone he's taken on as he speculates, Izuku's eyes are as sharp as ever as they walk deeper into the forest.]

Noctis ; hey we're gonna murder ALL of the spiders

[He can't even say he's surprised that Noctis knows how to fight. In all honesty, Noct carries himself like the sort of person who can, no matter how chill and quiet he is.

(Probably more so than Minato, honestly.)

So when they agree to give this a shot... he just nods to Noct, meeting up with him at the edge of the woods.]

Let's get this taken care of... jorogumo are supposed to be pretty dangerous, so I feel like getting rid of them is a good idea if they're this close to town.

Joro-what?

[ Noctis asks by way of greeting when he meets up with him, glad that Minato hasn't proceeded into the woods without him like some sort of reckless ranger, or something. He's glad that he's teaming up with him, at least; Minato is easygoing and smart, and he seems to pretty much know what he's doing. If he can survive the labyrinth, then he's sure that Minato can survive just about anything.

He falls into step beside him with all the innate grace of a fighter even if he's carrying no weapons, and he nods. ]

Yeah. Can't have them coming in and eat people, right? Where are your weapons?

Oh.

[Right, of course, it's a Japanese thing so of course everyone doesn't know what they are. Minato nods thoughtfully, and lifts his own sword from where it's resting at his side.]

[They can't all manifest their weapons magically, after all. He'll also just sort of trust that Noctis is prepared too, since he's carrying himself so expertly.]

Jorogumo are mythological creatures where I come from. They're like...ladies that turn into spiders...?

Caramia ; guess what i found...

[Of course, eventually, Minato went to go take a look at the library. It's in disrepair, just like a lot of the town they haven't gotten to yet to fix, but...

It's peaceful, too, and the books are so much more than just paperweights now. Minato flips through a few, but ends up pausing on one that has...A Lion.

A Scarecrow.

And... A Tin Man. That sounds... a little too familiar. So of course he has to contact Caramia, asking him to meet him at the library--he found something he wants to show him.]

[ Who would ever consider turning an invitation from Minato down? Certainly not Caramia, that's for sure. So, when he was asked to come out to the library, he more than happily obliged, without so much as even a question on his end.

He wondered what was so important that Minato felt he needed to show Caramia? In the library, it would have to be a book of some kind, right? That was a little exciting. Had he told Minato he loved books? Hm...

Regardless, when he got to the library, Minato's getting the usual greeting hug. ]

[Definitely a book of some kind. Minato's been reading through it while he waited for Caramia to get there. The story... it has its similarities to what Caramia had told him before, way too many similarities to ignore.

This book...]

Ah-- hello, Caramia-san. Thanks for coming to meet me here.

Kyrie ; and another thing--

[In contrast to Caramia, Minato contacts Kyrie directly with a simple message, once he's found the book.]

Kyrie-san, is it okay if I ask you a few questions? I'd like to talk to you about something in person, if we can.

[It's probably fine.

(But he definitely has a lot of questions; after all, if there's a lion and a tin man and a scarecrow...where's Dorothy?]

Yeah it's definitely fine, 100%. Kyrie isn't expecting anything when he receives the message, sending off a quick reply almost immediately.

You've already asked one question then, haven't you? Just how many do you intend to ask?

Very helpful. But, thankfully, there's another line tacked on, as if it were an afterthought:

[That's a usual Kyrie response, so Minato doesn't seem bothered by that. Instead--]

I'll come to you.

[He knows where Kyrie is staying, probably? And Vriska is too loud and nosy for questions like this, much as he likes her as a housemate.

But he gets the sense that these questions should be asked privately.]

Tonbokiri ; wishes

[Requesting to meet up came easily, especially now that Tonbokiri is getting more used to the laptops, which means that Minato agrees to meet him outside of Tonbokiri's house. It's quiet over in Flavo anyway, and Minato still remembers where it is.

And so...!!

Here he is, approaching with a chill and casual atmosphere to his expression, hands tucked into his pockets as ever, and expression contemplative.]

Tonbokiri-san, thanks for agreeing to meet with me. I wanted to talk to you about one of the quests.

[Stepping forward at the boy's approach, he smiles down at him kindly.]

Of course! Giving you a hand in any way I can would be my pleasure.
Which quest are you thinking of? [...Hopefully not "defeat the Jorogumo". Surely Arisato would realize that kind of quest is still beyond his skill to take on safely.]

[... Sorry, Tonbokiri, he's gonna go fight some Jorogumo.

But like, not with Tonbokiri, he feels like he might get scolded there.]

Well... as thanks for all of the effort you've put into helping me, I thought maybe I could give the wish quest a go.

Ieyasu ; spiders, man, spiders!!

[Well, admittedly, Minato is impressed by Ieyasu's gung-ho attitude in terms of trying to tackle quests not long after he got there, but...

Going and attacking Jorogumo in the woods is pretty dangerous. So! He volunteers to come along, both to complete the quest and because it's necessary--he'd feel pretty guilty if the unifier of Japan got eaten by a spider youkai.

(He is not yet aware of SenBASA power levels.)

Instead? He just waves when he spies him at the edge of the woods.]
