Open Mingle for Post Dragon Invasion Clean Up
WHO: Everyone in Town
WHERE: All over
WHEN: After the dragons leave
WHAT: Repairing buildings, dealing with dragon corpses, freaking out about the encroaching forest, dealing with injuries, etc.
WARNINGS: Dead dragons, maybe.
The dragons sure did a number on the town, didn't they?
Buildings have been burned down (or crushed), the forest has apparently decided to play at territory invasion (again) and there are dragon cadavers around the town.
And, unfortunately, these things don't magically take care of themselves.
Thankfully, as long as everyone pitches in, clean up shouldn't be too hard!
Maybe. Assuming at least a few people know what they're doing. Except, you know, apparently the trees on the edge of town grow back the next day if destroyed.
((OOC: Just a mingle post for post event stuff! Go ahead and make your own top levels!)

[ There is a Kohaku just. Staring at the forest entrance, incredulously. There's something weird about it that she just can't put her finger on ... ]
... Is it just me, or did it move closer?
[ But that can't be right! Forests don't just move closer, do they?
Then again, it wouldn't be the weirdest thing that's happened here. ]
[ 2 ]
[ Okay, so, there are dragon carcasses everywhere. Cleaning up the carcasses is going to be a huge undertaking, for sure. Kohaku points at one of them and looks to the nearest passerby. ]
Any chance we can just set it on fire? Or is there anything we can use from it before we set it on fire?
[ We might be able to use this! Maybe! Maybe? ]
[ 3 ]
[ Kohaku stands before a destroyed house in Bluo, arms crossed over her chest and a sad look in her eyes. It may not have been her home, not really, but it was her home in this place. And now it was a pile of rubble ... One that she didn't have the first clue on how to start rebuilding.
At least she was able to confirm that her roommate made it out of the whole ordeal alive. Not necessarily ... Okay, but alive. Alive was better than not.
Still, it made her sad to see the home she had reduced to nothing but shambles. ]
3
[The voice that comes from behind her is gravely, hoarse and tired. Duo limps up slowly, bandaged in a few places and a makeshift sling holding his arm against his stomach.
If he had any intentions of rebuilding before, those were pretty well dashed now.]
I'm... I'm so sorry...
no subject
Hey, don't apologize ... None of this is your fault.
[ Here, she's gonna shoot off a quick heal spell. ]
I'm just glad you're alive. A little worse for wear, but ... That can be fixed.

... No, you're right. I've been here almost a year now... it's definitely closer than it was before.

... I know weird stuff happens here all the time, but a forest can't just move like that, can it?

No clue. We could take some scales and... maybe some teeth from it? Might seem weird, but I've read some stories where dragon parts can get used in magic. Maybe someone can think of something to do with them.
(no subject)
2
The scales of a dragon are remarkably tough. In the hands of a skilled blacksmith, they would make for a fine shield . . .

If it's fire power she wants, Magilou has that in spades, but: ]
I wouldn't have taken you for an arsonist. Isn't that a little gruesome?

[He hums, apprising the carcass.]. I don't think we're likely to get much blood out of it now- but if we have something to shape them with, we might be able to use some of the rest of the body. Teeth, claws, scales- is there anything you'd like to have?

[Normally, even around people who didn't know about her powers, Kaoru would use her powers to carry things. Even if she had to hide her powers she'd still use her powers so she wasn't actually supporting the weight of anything with just her arms and she could run around even while holding huge amounts of weight.
But today? She can't use her powers because she's exhausted from the dragon invasion. So she's walking slowly with a very small amount of lumber that she has to hold close to her body while grumbling.]
Ugh. So heavy...where's someone to offer to carry things for me when I need them?
ii: Exhaustion, Man. It Sucks.
[The other problem with using her powers so much? She's tired. Like, really, really tired.
She's walking with an arm full of tools and she's sort of...half-asleep right now.
And also about to walk into a tree/wall/off the harbour. Someone please stop this girl from this collision!!]
iii: Bury the Dead
[She had promised herself she would do this. If she were at her best, she could just float any dragon corpse to a convenient patch of dirt before digging a hole for it and burying it.
But...even without being able to use her powers right now there are things she can do, still. So she might come up to you, whether she knows you or not and ask.]
I need some help with something.
iv: Eventually, Even a Level 7 Needs to rest
[Even Kaoru's energy isn't unlimited (haha). When she really was too tired, she sits down by a tree and decides to take a short nap.
But of course, she falls deeply asleep. Whether you're a good samaritan coming close to wake her up or someone looking to prank her, when you come within arm reach she'll suddenly, move, her arms coming up to wrap around you like a clingy koala.
If you're strong enough you may be able to stay standing, but otherwise she'll drag you down to the ground with her.
And yes, she's definitely still asleep. Have fun.]
iii
So much for finding a new life here...
He only barely recgonized Kaoru at first, having not seen her for quite a while. He perks up a little at her question, though.]

She hadn't realized Kaoru was there, though, since she's been sitting on the other side of the tree. When she's finally had enough of her view, she stands up, walks to the other side of the tree, and hey, that's someone she knows. So she bounces over to be a bother--
And unfortunately, Magilou is very small. And she's very light. So Kaoru grabbing at her? It definitely makes her take a tumble, her legs giving out beneath her and without an easy escape route. ]
Hey, Kaoru! Wake up! Sheesh, don't they say only idiots fall asleep outside?

[He's up on a rooftop today, with a hammer he managed to find in one of the supply depots and some nails. But he's not used to these types of work so it's not long before he runs into some problems.
He's holding onto a long piece of wood as he considers his option. Then he waves to you.]
I can't figure out how to get this onto the roof.
ii: The
CatTree Came Back The Very Next Day[Jim had gone and cut down some of the trees near the edge of Bluo. But then when he went back to continue his work the next day...
He's staring at a clump of trees with something like disbelief in his eyes.
He reaches out and touched the tree. Nope. Still there.]
...but I cut these ones down yesterday.
iii: Just rooting around for supplies
[If only the dragons had been kind enough to leave the general stores and supply depots alone...but when has life been that easy?
Which is why Jim is here, gingerly moving aside rubble and looking for anything salvageable.
But the problem with rubble is that it's not always stable and when he takes a step Jim's foot sinks into the rubble and he gives a short shout of surprise. Then he tries to pull his leg out and has to wince. Looks like he's stuck!
He looks around to see if there's anyone who could help.]

Connor comes over to the struggling boy, careful to avoid falling into the rubble himself, his sensors scanning for weaknesses. It's difficult, given just how destroyed the building is (even his sensors can't predict everything!), but be manages to avoid a similar fate.]
Are you alright? Your leg isn't crushed, is it?

[Akira is one of the ones who... doesn't really know what he's doing. But he tries?
He's made it his main mission to go into the burned down buildings, scouting for anything that might be useful and undamaged (or at least easily repaired) and bringing it back to a little pile he has going. And he's changed into his Joker outfit to do it, because it's just a little safer that way.
So yeah, a long black jacket, red gloves, and a white mask... someone running around like that in that in broad daylight is totally not suspicious, right? Well it's fine. Catch him running in and out of various crumbling buildings throughout the day.]
B
[In the afternoon, he starts to think that his fellow workers might need a little pick-me-up. That's what's led to him pulling a small wagon he found in his digging (a little wobbly and charred, but good enough), laden with pots of warm coffee freshly brewed in his cafe not too long ago along with little mugs. He's back in his normal clothes now, too.
He'll wave at anyone he sees working.]
Need any coffee?
[A break and some caffeine can't hurt!]
B
Her arms hurt from all this work...
So when Akira offers her coffee she's happy to abandon what she's doing and walk over.]

[Repair work is something Xie Lian's grown quite familiar with over the centuries, and honestly a situation like this is one in which his inhuman strength might really come in handy--you might catch him carrying a huge pile of junk or materials around, or maybe on a roof busily hammering things (into a decidedly more Chinese shape than that roof originally should have been) or...narrowly dodging a late-falling piece of debris. He's fine!
Covered in bandages, but fine.]
ii
[So somebody was roasting dragon kebabs during the actual invasion, right? Which means the rest of these dragons...should also be perfectly edible.
He's just gonna be over here, carefully chopping away at this dragon corpse with a wood-chopping axe--and thoughtfully holding up a dismembered leg.]
I wonder if I could pickle these?
ii
Pickling that? Really? How savage.
[ She sounds almost offended for a second. And then, without missing a beat: ]
Roasting it on a spit'll be a lot quicker.

[Akira eyes it warily from where he's trying to get a door back into its loose hinges. He doesn't consider himself a particularly picky eater, but it's meat from a wild reptile... he can imagine it must taste awfully gamy.
Not that he isn't used to that sort of taste lately, but still. Still!]
