[ She'll be there to catch him as he collapses, breaking his fall as an arm goes to be around his back. Now what does she do? She can't exactly bring him to a healer because this isn't an actual poison or anything, this is an effect brought about by Chroma, mysterious and powerful and superseding any regular means to undo it... as far as she is aware at this point, anyways. ]
....Let me see— [ She forcefully pulls up the sleeve that the poison crawls up, watching it trace the paths of veins up his arms, dread building up in the back of her mind. He’ll be alright, she tells herself; he’s a god, immortal. But that doesn’t mean she can tolerate seeing him weakened and hurt! ]
A tourniquet won’t stop this. [ Thinking of it like it might be a normal poison, once it reaches his heart and shoots to the rest of his body it'll become systemic. But this isn't some normal substance that he's ingested, it's something beyond her knowledge; thus, she can only speculate on how to help him.
Think, think, what did Xie Lian say about himself and his abilities? Nothing, much. Only that he is a god and he responds to prayers. Does she have to pray to him? Does Wei Wuxian now have the ability to grant those prayers? Does it count if she's actually praying to a god to help himself? ] ...Wei Ying, [ She'll at least pick him up and begin to move him out of this junk-filled room, bringing him down the stairs. ] You and Xie Lian are cultivators---
Can you stave off the poison? To heal yourself? Or... do you need energy from me to do so? [ Pyra can’t heal, the most she can do is transfer energy to him. ]

Is there anybody in this town that can't pick him up and carry him? This is his final, humiliated thought as the poison shoots up his arms into his chest. The tightness there feels like so many steel bands. He can't breathe. His heart, he can tell, is struggling to beat. He looks up. At least, at least the last thing he sees will be Pyra's face. This time, he won't die alone. He's happy about that, and also sad, because he wouldn't wish this upon her, seeing him die like this. The dark purple rash spreads rapidly down into his body, and up through his throat. He has one chance, he suddenly realizes, this one chance to say what's in his heart: ]
[ His words cut off. The poison is in his tongue, freezing it. An instant later, and it has seeped into his eyes. The world goes purple. His heart... ]

It's then that she realizes that this isn't going to be just a matter of him needing some rest and sleep.
"Pyra, I--" ]

And then she strikes her hand down upon his sternum, hard, 5 joules exactly, to function as the precordial thump to restart his heart, a quick pulse check, and then she pulls apart whatever he's wearing to expose his chest, one hand to the upper right of his chest, the other to the lower left, delivering a stronger burst of energy. Pyra can't actually tell what sort of rhythm his heart is in, if it actually shockable or not, but it's always best practice to try it first.
But if his heart has truly stopped, if there is no activity whatsoever--
She'll start to do chest compressions. A two second pause is hardly enough for the body to be injured from a stopped heart; and so long as she can keep this up and have his blood perfuse the rest of his body, as long as she can keep his mean arterial pressure above sixty or so, she can avoid organ damage--
Thirty beats, and then she switches positions and thrusts his neck back and jaw open, cinching his nose and covering his mouth with hers: two breaths, repeating the entire cycle one more time.
If that doesn't work, however... Well, there's one other option. But she's hoping that good ol' fashioned CPR works first. Surely Xie Lian's body can take it; a few broken ribs is nothing to a god, right? Then again, she thought that poison wouldn't be anything to him, either....
She's trying not to let panic and fear overtake her. She's trying-- ]

...
What is going on? That poison, in such unimaginable quantity, was fatal. He should have... no, he is dead. Except, he's not. ]
[ She's pushing on his chest, forcing a breath through his lungs. He can almost speak to her. His eyes are open, in the manner of a dead man's, but he can see her, glassily. Another chest compression, and he can whisper: ]
Pyra—
no subject
Ah, he's back.
Oh, she's so so so very lucky that his down time only lasted for two cycles. Any damage Xie Lian's body has sustained shouldn't be the worst but still--- But they're not out of the clear yet. ] Deep breaths, Wei Ying, deep breaths, you're back... It's going to be okay.
[ She's opening his eyes, checking his pupils for reactivity with one hand all the while pressing a hand to his neck to check for a pulse-- thready, weak, shocky. Typical signs, but he's back, he's back.
She doesn't know if he ate or drank anything beforehand, but now she's worried about set of problems that can arise. Did he aspirate while he was down? Or--
Did her chest compression puncture a lung with the broken ribs? She presses her ear to one side of his chest, listening for breath sounds. Then the other. Good, still there, equal, even rise, good ventilation, shallow, but not terrible.
Did her chest compression cause an effusion around the heart? She presses her ear to over his heart, listening. It's probably too early to tell, but everything sounds fine for now. ] I'm going to move you, I know it's going to hurt, I'm sorry, but please--
[ She'll place him upon his left side. ] Deep breaths. [ She repeats. ]
no subject
I'm fine.
[ What... what had just happened? Those shocks and then the chest compressions... he's not familiar with such a procedure, but clearly she was trying to keep his blood circulating. Was it her ministrations, or the peculiarities of Xie Lian's body, that allowed him to survive that poison. ]
Thank you.

Pyra wants nothing more to bring him into her arms for an embrace and hold him. She adores both Wei Wuxian and Xie Lian; she loves them for the kindness they have both shown her in their different ways, and she admires them for how they are so clearly fond of each other as well. If Wei Wuxian had perished while in Xie Lian's body... she wouldn't be able to look either in the eye ever again. Somehow, whether by Pyra's hands or by Xie Lian's fortitude, they nearly missed a catastrophe.
She does adjust him, however, moving to his head and bringing him up to rest his head in her lap. From there, her hands move to his chest once more, palms pressed downward upon his skin... and there her hands begin to glow. ] "I'm fine"..... mm?
Xie Lian says that a lot, too. [ She reflects softly as she begins to transfer her own energy to his body, so that he might feel revitalized. She can't heal, but maybe Xie Lian's body can do something with the energy itself. ] You push yourself too hard, just like him... [ Obviously they deserve each other.
There's a fleeting sadness in her eyes, but then: ] You'll tell me, right? When you aren't okay? [ She had gotten Xie Lian to promise her to not say he's fine when he's not. But what about Wei Wuxian? Can he do the same? ]
no subject
...
But then her hands are on his skin and her touch is gentle, so much so that his breath catches. He can feel the warm energy flowing from her fingers; and to his surprise, Xie Lian's body can make use of it. The curse mark has sealed him off from being able to accumulate his own supply of qi, but when gifted an external source, it's a different story. He can feel the bruising and his fractured ribs start to heal, astonishingly quickly. Is it Pyra's skill? Is it Xie Lian's body? Is it his own expertise? He has no idea.
And then Pyra starts asking the hard questions. He starts to chatter, his voice light, so as not to disturb his still-healing bones. ]
I'd like to point out that, in this case, I wasn't pushing myself at all. I just emptied this fellow's pockets. Who knew what he had inside? Aaaaah, you know this reminds me of something that happened when I was a boy. I'd also hurt my chest then... ah, worse than now, this is nothing. I asked the person with me to let me rest my head on their lap, but they wouldn't let me. Wasn't that cold-hearted? You're not cold-hearted.
[ He rolls his head back and forth, smiling happily again. ]
This is much nicer. You're much nicer.
no subject
Well.... did you ask nicely?[ Bro she even let a near-stranger rest their head on her lap in canon.... And they didn’t have to ask. Neither did Wei Wuxian. It also feels like the right, comforting thing to do for another. She hopes her lap is comfortable! ]
I’m only joking though. Who was this person? [ Yes, talking about your past, that’s a good distraction from recovering!
Pyra has always felt as if she were weaker in Chroma than in her own world, which she has taken as a very good thing overall. But in instances like this, she almost wishes she could do more for him... In any case, she continues to transfer that energy into Xie Lian’s body, and the power will immediately adapt into something that he may utilize.
That power is often called divine, and she finds it curiously funny that she’s relinquishing it to a god, even if her nature is vastly different from Xie Lian’s benevolence... ]
no subject
You met him before. Lan Zhan. We were stuck in a cave, no way out. Ah, and I hurt alllll ooooover!
[ He's recovered sufficiently, to be able to whine. ]
I asked for his lap, but all I got was a pile of leaves for my head. Wasn't that mean? If I'd had a lap, I would have gotten better right away, just like now! Hahah, maybe it isn't just any lap, though, that has healing powers. Maybe it's your lap that's healing me!
no subject
She wants to lift her hands to brush Xie Lian's hair to the side, but now Wei Wuxian has his hands over hers, keeping them where they are. She can't complain, really, and she has ample energy to give. Besides, the poor godling, he doesn't deserve to suffer anymore. That, she feels for Xie Lian. As for Wei Wuxian... there's something far more to it. He's a man who, she believes, hasn't gotten all that he deserves in either of his lives-- and what she believes he deserves is place and relationship where he might always feel accepted, safe, and wanted. Xie Lian probably provides that for him already, but she wants him to know that she is there for him, too, unconditionally.
And so she says without hesitation: ]
Wei Ying... [ Her smile is soft. ] I want you to know, that I will never, ever deny you anything you ever wish.
[ Whether that be her company or his head upon her lap... She's trying to be as open with him as she can. She is accepting, perhaps too accepting of him, but at this point it's something that she can't help. Whatever he does, whatever he says, it's rather impossible to see him doing anything wrong. She just feels, somehow, she has to say it again to remind him that-- like she wishes for him to be there, she wants him to know that she will be there for him. ]
1/2
Still, an offer like that is too good to ignore. Hmm..... ]
no subject
[ He pouts like a little shit, twisting his head to and fro. ]
Kiss it and make it better!
1/2
She giggles at his silliness, the way he pouts like a child when she knows he's anything but. And then-- ]
no subject
Pyra doesn't linger with the kiss, straightening up once more. Opening her eyes, she smiles down at him, checking to see if he's still pouting at her. ] ...Anything else?
no subject
And then... Anything else? What a loaded question. Yet anything else he asks for would be delivered to Xie Lian's body, not his. And that is... okay, it's a little weird. ]
Aaaah, let me see.
[ He gazes up at her impossibly beautiful face... and just then realizes he's lying on top of... ah, heaven knows what he's lying on, it's all broken, worthless junk piled up around them. ]
Pyra, I recall that your powers involve creating flames. I wonder... can you incinerate things without a trace?
no subject
[ Okay, she looks a little concerned by his question. ]
Is there something you need gone?
no subject
I think our mutual friend has a problem. What do you say we help him out?
no subject
PHEW.
Hahha she had been thinking that he'd ask her to destroy some evidence to something ~suspicious~ thing he might have done! ]
Ah. Yes.
[ That, she can do. ] ...I never knew he was a hoarder. [ She replies, assisting him with sitting up. Careful, careful! She's going to make sure that he's okay before incinerating anything, though. ]
1/2
Did you think I was up to something?
no subject
You'd be right. I'm always up to something. Let's start with these purple scales, before anybody else touches them.
[ He sweeps his hand to indicate them, but perhaps because he's in a different body, or has half-healed ribs, his hand overshoots and he comes very close to actually touching one again. ]
no subject
Still ~smiling~. ] I already tried. They're indestructible, from what I can tell. [ Magic proof fire proof "utterly impossible to break down in any way" etc etc etc ]
But if you as his husband believe it to be the right thing to do, to remove all of these excess.... trinkets. [ ... ] I'll happily assist.
no subject
He can't help laughing weakly at the "husband" line. He'll tell her. He will tell her... later. ]
Perhaps we could put them in a box or something, with a warning label.
[ Like "Danger, do not touch" or "XIe Lian's leftovers," sorry husband. ]
As for the rest... I think he'll be much better off. And his roommates grateful.
[ Keeping well away from the purple scales this time, he stands up. ]
