Who told you so, dilly dilly, Who told you so? βTwas my own heart, dilly dilly, That told me so.
ouch is one of the most intimate, romantic ways to be close to someone else. The Town knows this very well -- the Town wants everyone to be as close as possible.
Perhaps that's why this bonding is so...aggressive.
Because you're in for quite the shock on this otherwise peaceful day when you brush against the next person on your path.
Maybe you're going out of your way to touch people. Maybe you've got a terrible urge to just see what's lurking in someone's heart. Maybe you trip over a conveniently placed rock -- whatever the cause, you're getting an up close and personal look into someone else's heart.

[She thinks that might be for the best too, honestly. That voice hadn't sounded...pleasant.
A part of her is really curious about it though!]
...I wonder why it called you in the first place? Or is it something like being butt dialed but...[Wait.] ...actually. How did you hear that voice? Was it just in your head? Are there telepaths where you come from?
[ UH..... Lottie reels away from Sierra to give her the most flabbergasted look she can muster. While by all technical standards, she definitely is 100% a narcissist, she still refuses to ever be associated with that term. ]
Wh.. Oh my god, Sierra, you can't just SAY things like that!! Especially to me!
Oh no no, it's okay, you don't have to apologize for anything!
[ Jion flaps a hand to dismiss the very thought. ]
I'm just ... really glad it's peaceful here. To be honest, the last time the town made us share memories I, uh. Well, I showed some people some pretty bad stuff. So honestly, as long as it's nothing like that, it's all fine.
[ He places a hand on the sliding door, inhaling once before he's throwing it open. What he expects is a sudden change of scenery -- the manor in shambles, his mother with a white sheet covering her face and his father's head decapitated somewhere along the tattered tatami mats with Touma sobbing, ashamed that sons of a samurai turned into lowly bandits, meeting the bare minimum to survive. He suspects that due to bitterness, and the fact that he wants to desperately close out this tiny shard of him that has managed to stay despite all of his changes.
-- But it's none of that.
The room is bright with sunlight pouring through the window. His family sitting on the tatami mat with Touma sitting on his mother's lap, who is smiling with familiar gentleness; her face shows her age, but there's no denying her beauty despite her body being so frail due to her illness. Choubee could have sworn he had forgotten what she had looked like entirely before she was completely bedridden, and yet there was nothing but heart aching familiarity when he sees her.
And his father (while balding) had his head perfectly on his shoulders. Comforting eyes completely contrasting against his stern expression, a single finger extended out for Touma to hold.
All three lift their heads to look at both himself and Pyra -- particularly Choubee, who seems frozen in place. ]
Ah... ha... haha... [ A small bead of sweat drops down from his temple, lips trembling. ] What the hell? This isn't... what it's supposed to look like -- they shouldn't be smilin' like that...
[ "Brother!"
No. No. No. No.
Choubee grabs the sliding door, just as Touma moves to leave his mother's lap, only to slam it shut with such intensity it's a surprise that it doesn't just break. ]
Fuck! What the fuck? [ Heart racing in his chest, his throat immediately closes up as his breath goes ragged. Like he had run a whole marathon and more, his eye refusing to look up from the wooden floor as he holds the door closed. ] This ain't how it's supposed to be! They're supposed to be dead -- they have to be dead!
[ He leads the way tentatively at first, then with growing confidence as they enter an area where he's more familiar with the layout. ]
I think it's, uh. It's where I grew up. [ A pair of scientists in labcoats walk by; Jion automatically moves aside to give them room, answering with a deferential nod when they sternly say, 'Good, don't go far.' ] ... I guess you could call it a research facility. Military. But if you go this way, there's a big open area. It might be easier for you to get out that way.
Also that answers the question of whether or not they had telepaths.]
Telepathy is a psychic power that allows someone to read the thoughts of others as well as project their own thoughts into other people's minds. Espers that use telepathy are telepaths.
[And risk her starting another pointless conversation? Although, truth be told, a part of him is curious to know more, so that he might better understand what happened back then.]
Espers . . .
[Do all the people in these foreign realms possess such complicated powers? It strikes Berkut as being that way.]
[Ah, well, Kaoru does know the situation better than he does, but surely it'll be okay here in whatever illusion the town has made, right?
He looks back at the older Kaoru, ignoring the little one's tugs for the moment.]
There's one of her and two of us. We can handle it, right?
[Although, he knows how strong Kaoru's powers are first hand now... but they're just as strong or stronger than herself as a 10-year-old so how bad could it be?]
[ Ah... because he is. Well, admittedly, if Choubee was less of a pessimist he would be just as delighted to speak of samurai in a light note -- but those bastards also threw him into prison just for living life, so they can get jumped. ]
Yeah. I didn't have to worry on whether or not I'd be havin' breakfast, lunch, or dinner, that shit was always free.
[ He quirks a brow. ]
A lab sounds a hell of a lot more exciting than just some lame mansion. Wait, so does that mean you're an orphan or somethin'?
[The moment little Shiho notices him noticing her sneaking a look she immediately brings the book back up to hide. Which would only work if she hadn't taken another look a few minutes later.
When I was a kid, I didn't read cute things like that. [And with that said, she's stepping forward to stand in front of herself, pausing before she crouches down in front of the little girl who looks from Akira to her older self and then back. The book goes up again and she curls into a smaller ball on her chair.]
....You should at least say "hi", you know? [But then again she was kind of quiet as a kid, wasn't she? At least at this point she had been very shy when she'd first learned that there were people who were creeped out by her powers]
