Who told you so, dilly dilly, Who told you so? ‘Twas my own heart, dilly dilly, That told me so.
ouch is one of the most intimate, romantic ways to be close to someone else. The Town knows this very well -- the Town wants everyone to be as close as possible.
Perhaps that's why this bonding is so...aggressive.
Because you're in for quite the shock on this otherwise peaceful day when you brush against the next person on your path.
Maybe you're going out of your way to touch people. Maybe you've got a terrible urge to just see what's lurking in someone's heart. Maybe you trip over a conveniently placed rock -- whatever the cause, you're getting an up close and personal look into someone else's heart.
Welcome to Awash's eighteenth event log, everyone! Further information on this event can be found here at the OOC post. You are welcome to make your own logs and posts for this event!
If there are any questions, please ask them here. Thank you!
.....That’s such a weird reason. And they can’t even hold more than one person, can they? And what if I needed to bring back a ton of stuff? Do I have to rent a broadsword then or something?
[Because clearly that should be how sword-based vehicles work.]
[More suited for agility, huh...] So am I just supposed to go for a joy ride on this unreliable vehicle while you... take pictures? Hang out down here and nap?
It's not unreliable at all! Don't say that, you'll hurt the sword spirit's feelings! [ He sounds very indignant on its behalf. ] It'll take you wherever you'd like to go. Out of this place, for instance.
If you continue with soul cultivation, you may be able to ride your own sword one day. I mean, on the outside. In the real world. Anyway, go and give it a try! See how you like it!
[She sighs. She actually takes a deep breath, holds it to gather her thoughts and then sighs.]
....Have you lost your hearing or do you think I'm stupid? Am I supposed to leave you here? I'm only asking one last time. If you don't answer, I'm going to take this sword and stick it straight into the ground and make sure it never flies again.
I was just giving you an option. I suppose we could try to fly down together, though I can’t make any guarantees. Or we could see if there’s some sort of path down the mountain. It’ll be so much less exciting that way, but if that’s what you want…
Either way is fine as long as we're getting out of this together. [And don't think she isn't going to watch him and make sure he doesn't try to pull a trick or... something.]
This sword looks kind of weak anyway. We'll walk. It might be less exciting but that's fine. It's not like flying is a big deal.
Kaoru-chan takes me flying all the time. [Pretty much every day of her life since she was five. There really... doesn't seem to be a path though and she glares down at it, offended that a path doesn't just pop up.]
....Well, time to do some climbing then. [She's not giving up, damn it!]
[Uh rude] I could fly too back home, if I wanted. [But stealing a helicopter is usually a hassle
and also maybe illegal]
And we're lucky that I apprenticed with a mountain climbing expert then, aren't we? I'm good at finding the safest way down. [Also how dare he underestimate a psychometer]
What can I say, I have a lot of interests. [She sees that shrewd look and her reply is a bright, innocent smile. Nothing to see here, Wei Wuxian, even if you are her teacher.]
And everyone knows that the less ordinary a mountain is, the more fun it is to conquer it and make it beg for forgiveness on its knees. [Because she's already made a decision. Leaving him behind isn't an option and going by herself isn't an option so the only choice she can make is to protect him no matter what.]
[He should be scared, honestly. Raising an eyebrow first at him, then at the fern.... of course she wouldn't trust things to be that easy.]
Hm... that's convenient, isn't it? So... Mr. Heart-Owner, what do you think? Are we going to be able to make it down this mountain on this super convenient new path?
II
...No? People don't usually try to ride these things. [It just doesn't seem safe. Do you sit on it?? Hold onto it? How?!]

[ He crosses his arms. ]
It's the number one reason people become soul cultivators!
[ Well, that and the power. And the prestige. ]
no subject
[Because clearly that should be how sword-based vehicles work.]

[ He has no idea what "renting" is, so he won't comment on that. ]
Er, this one though. It's really more suitable for agility than power.

If it means leaving you here, I'm not doing it. Who knows what kind of things you'd get up to?

[ He taps his chin thoughtfully. ]

It’s not a big deal? Can you fly, too? I thought that was Maiden Kaoru’s specialty, but it’s yours as well?

....Well, time to do some climbing then. [She's not giving up, damn it!]

[ He doesn’t say it, but the meaning is clear: you can’t fly on your own. ]
Fine, we climb. Have you climbed mountains before? It’s a long way down if you fall.

[ He gives her a searching, shrewd look. Then his features smooth out and he smiles. ]
In that case, I suppose I don’t need to tell you this isn’t an ordinary mountain.
[ It is, of course, a construct of his heart. There isn’t any safe way down. ]
