[It's not long, really, until where they reach where the... very basic boats landed. Hunk's is a basic boat but it's solid and there're packs with supplies on it. He brings Keith all the way here before he sets him down and reaches out to snag a pack.
Digging in it, blanket! He's swishing that around you Keith here, warm yourself be the toastiest boy. And then he pulls out his knife and hands that to him.]
no subject
[Keith concedes.
He's relieved when they reach the boat, more so when Hunk finally sets him down. Now at least he doesn't have to worry about the other wearing himself out on his account. ...and that blanket may be the best thing. Keith pulls it around himself and maybe it's just the hint of warmth that starts that makes his body realize just how frozen he's felt, but it's right about then that the shivering starts, near violent.
Enough that his hands are shaking as he reaches for the blade. He smiles anyway though.] Thanks, Hunk. I wasn't sure if I'd lost it for good. It's... yeah, thanks.
no subject
[And, as an aside:]
And you're welcome. I'm relieved I found it for you.
[He knows that that knife is important to Keith! Heck, he always has it with him. That was what really triggered Hunk's worrying: finding the knife that he knows Keith wouldn't let out of his hands.]
no subject
But alas.
The blanket is helping though, and he wraps cold fingers around the knife and holds it tightly.]
I think I owe you thanks for more than just the knife too.
[Keith speaks up. This part is hard for him, but it feels important to say.] Even while we were stuck here and things looked bad, I knew you were still out there. I knew you wouldn't give up.
[Because Hunk is... a good teammate, a good friend. Hunk cares so much for everyone else before himself. And he's brave even if Keith is well aware how terrified he is sometimes.]
no subject
Yeah. I'd never give up on you. No matter what, if you needed my help I'd do my best to get there.
...Thanks, Keith.
[For saying it. There's a silly smile on his face and he's felt better than he has for days upon days.]
no subject
[Keith nods, looking up with a smile and holding out a hand to him. He definitely knows that for a fact, Hunk. It's something he can absolutely relies on. Even if he's been away from the group for a while back home.
Teammates. Friends.
And here, well, here he's gotten closer to Hunk too with them here together, getting through the crap this place throws at them together.]
no subject
So naturally, he reaches for Keith's hand.]
Only thing I don't like is that it took us a bit to get here... But we got here.
no subject
Eventually he lets go and slumps back where he's sitting.]
Yeah. You got here. That's what matters.
[And then, well,] I'm ready to go home.
[Keith would never have called anywhere in this weird world home before Hunk arrived and they made their little orange household.]
no subject
[Hunk squeezes his hand firmly, flashing him a warm smile before he turns toward the ship. He moves his hand to urge Keith into it, shifting to get ready. He's actually pulling a length of chain out of the water, moving to wrap it around his waist.
What???
He got here so fast thanks to jetpack. Exhausting yes but way quicker.]
no subject
[Keith watches him now, eyebrows lifting at him and glancing from the chain to the boat to his friend.]
Are you... the motor of the motorboat?
[What is he looking at here, Hunk? Is this safe? Are you up for this? He frets.]
no subject
[Hunk grins, shrugging his shoulders.]
It's the quickest way to get back. And right now I feel like I can pull a dozen boats, y'know?
no subject
[Keith leans forward to look at him, clearly concerned. But jeez Hunk that grin. He sighs and sits back.]
Why the sudden energy then?
[You sure Hunk he is so skeptical and worried.]
no subject
[FISTPUMP.
Of course, he's pretty sure he'll pass out when they get back but uh details. He steps into the cold water, thanking some entity for his paladin suit as the jets blaze to life. OFF THEY GO.]
no subject
[Keith can recognize the hypocrisy in him telling anyone to be careful. But he says it anyway, because he is worried.
And then Hunk just hops on in and Keith shimmies his way up in the boat to make sure he can keep an eye on him,]
no subject
[He teases.
But in all seriousness, he's thought about that too. As it is, he takes a deep breath and hits the jets in question and the boat starts a-moving. Back to the other shore, off of this horrible rock.]
no subject
He's so ready to be home. Warm. In bed. He may never stop shivering at this rate.]
no subject
Not far.
When he finally hits the shore the strength fades from him. He stumbles up the loose rock dragging the ship behind him before he drops into a crouch, panting from exertion. There.]
no subject
He drapes the blanket over his shoulders and tucks himself under Hunk's arm.]
All right, big man. My turn. Lean on me, and let's go home.
no subject
Sounds good. Great. Sounds amazing.
[He puts emphasis on amazing as he leans some of his weight on Keith, not too much but enough to feel like he can walk back to their house.]
no subject
[Home and warm and dry and sleeping in a bed. Nothing has ever sounded better honestly. So Keith will offer what support he can and make their way back to their little orange house.
When it comes into view, he sighs in relief. He's never been happier to see it.]
no subject
[VERY SERIOUSLY as Hunk lifts his face, gazing with relief at it.
Bless it. Bless its orange. Bless the beds waiting inside, oh man he can not wait and, despite his exhaustion and everything, he manages to perk up.]
no subject
[Come on, Hunk. Into the house and up the stairs. Keith is concerned. Hunk seems worn out. He at least got to rest during the boat ride while Hunk worked that hard to get them back here.]
We can sleep through tomorrow if you want. Maybe the next day.
no subject
[Hunk declares it, sloppily working open the few clasps of his Paladin armour on their way up the stairs. It's mostly loose by the time they get to his room door and he starts discarding it (carefully) with a sigh of relief.]
We're having, like. Exclusive us-only slumber party.
no subject
So he may also be stripping as he follows Hunk on up the stairs, at least out of his shirt. Ugh. Being warm is going to be amazing.]
Sounds great. I'm just... really happy to be inside. I was starting to think I'd never be warm again. I'm still shivering.
no subject
So he'll just dig out some spare clothes for himself and for Keith. So they'll be big on Keith, whatever whatever. He offers them as he finishes struggling out of his Paladin armour and starts shoving his face into nice comfortable clothes.]
Don't worry. Once we're like, buried in blankets, we'll be toasty as burritos.
