[ They'd love to elaborate, but this probably isn't the most ideal place to do it. What the other says makes sense, so they continue retreating further away from the craggy shores, farther up on the rocky hills that make up this island. ]
I don't know if it'll be worth it for them to follow if we go far enough away. [ The sirens at least seem to be arguing about it— it's not like they are adapted to maneuver on this terrain. It's a lot of work for one meal. ] I guess that's what that song is for.
[ Maybe covering their ears is the best solution to their problems. ]

[Away from the shore they go then. The hills aren't the best place either, he thinks he saw something try to attack. But for now it's the best they've got.]
Maybe they'll dry out before they get to us. [He can hope, even if he sounds doubtful. They've clearly got a way to make charm people into becoming food.]

[ When they get to a height that's a bit too far for the sirens to feasibly chase them to, two of them slither back into the water while one keeps watch on the pair. Well, there's nothing that can be done about that, they suppose— they'll just have to watch to make sure they aren't ambushed from another side of the island, or something equally ridiculous. Cairngorm doesn't relax even a fraction, still staying protectively close to the other. ]
Well, whatever. There's no point in trying to guess their plan. [ Now that they have a beat to study him, they're picking up on all the little details that make him unique from the other humans they've seen. ] I'll be honest with you and say I'm not really that familiar with fighting those sorts of things.
[ They shoot him a questioning glance, wondering if he has any experience. ]

I've never fought fish demons either. One of my classmate's has a power called "frog". But it's not the same thing.

[ Thankfully, they've learned abstractly what a frog is from fairytales (they actually appear pretty commonly...), but the rest of his sentence kind of throws them for a loop. The fish demons will have to wait until they get a clarification on the other's skills. ]
You're one of those humans with special abilities, then.

[Asui Tsuyu, quirk: Frog. She can do anything a frog can do.
It's very broad for a quirk.]
Mine is creating and controlling ice and fire. It's... difficult to do it on this island.

Yes, I heard from someone else that abilities are weakened here, for whatever reason. [ They don't look at him while they speak, preferring to keep their eye on the cold waves. ] Do you feel anything else wrong with your condition?
no subject
Not really. I'm hungry and tired, but I don't think that has anything to do with this place.
[There's not a lot to eat. The creeping paranoia that the sirens will sing somebody else to the ocean also makes it hard to sleep.]

[ There's just...rocks. And more rocks. They haven't exactly been seeing many humans take to liking salt water, so they're assuming it must be bad for them somehow. ]
You can eat fish, can't you?
no subject
... But it's probably fine. This is an emergency situation. I have to eat something eventually.
[He can't just sit here and starve to death. Not after he told Izuku he wasn't allowed to die.]

[ They cast their gaze back to the water, watching for any movement of the waves that would indicate that there are sirens nearby. ]
But I could help you catch one. I was helping someone else with it earlier.

[He feels like that's a no, but now he's curious.]
I can char it if you can get one.
[It'll just be hard with the way this island seems to dampen all of his powers. Wow. he hates it.]
no subject
[ So they don't mind forking over whatever fish they find! It's been quiet over there by the water for a while, so they don't feel as nervous as they had when they initially moved up to this higher ground. ]
You're going to be fine up here? I'd tell you to come near the water, but they'll probably immediately go for you.

[Shouto'll settle himself so he can look out into the ocean- which is everywhere. He can see it wherever he turns. It's awful.]
I'll be fine. I can survive being up here for a while.
