Event Nine.

Thus, on Life’s gloomy sea, Heareth the marinere Voices sweet, from far and near, Ever singing in his ear, “Here is rest and peace for thee!”

t's a dark night, and the sounds of feet in the darkness are further dampened and hidden by even more magic, as they are lured away by the soft sounds of dreams that are too good to be true, leaving the Town much, much emptier than when it began. On one side, an island, and a ticking clock to a gruesome death. On the other, the slow realization that those bonds everyone has been forging might mean much, much more than they first thought. [It feels as though he had a dream. A dream where a familiar yet long-lost voice was calling out to him... and when Yusuke awakes, it's a startle back to reality on damp rocks. He shudders almost immediately at the cold.

He may not be paying much attention to those around at first, standing up as he casts an incredulous glance around the craggy beach. What the heck.]

How on earth... [But his expression steepens and he shifts back from the water when he glimpses shapes, a look at a siren from further off. He doesn't recognise the types of creatures they are right away but he can make an educated guess.] I see. Then, an illusion had some part in luring me here... [Mumble mumble. He's dripping water as he stands mumbling and staring toward the water can someone tell this child to dry off.]

[Later on, once he's back to himself more, Yusuke considers their options. There must be a way to get back. Perhaps he could get Kamu Susano-o to freeze the water enough to find a way back? Yeah, that's not going to go well.

Yusuke doesn't know that, though.

But, he pitches over when he tries; the shape of his Persona shimmers overhead before vanishing. If you decide to investigate this lanky guy who just summoned a thing and promptly fell, you'll find him sporting a fox mask on his face. But none of the rest of his usual phantom thief outfit.]

[Let's fail at hunting fish or gathering wood together or something of the sort, come at me!! Let's not starve through the power of teamwork.

Or doze off while sitting by a meagre fire this is fine. Just as planned.]

[Okay. So things aren't super great.

That said, when Yusuke sees the boats in the distance, even with how exhausted, starving and cold he is he feels the kindling of hope. That's why when the groups start arriving and if anyone plunges into a fight, Yusuke will be there, shaking violently but determinedly calling on his Persona to heave chunks of ice at Sirens.

Just fox mask with none of his usual fancy accoutrements, but oh well. Style can wait!]

[Post-fight? Yeah, he's down for the count.

He's found the nearest spot of stone to slump down and lean against, his eyes closed. He might be asleep, hard to tell, but probably should get him up before the boats cast off okay.]

[So Keith has seen enough of Yusuke's magic... person.. thing. Whatever, the really cool power that Yusuke has that is all icy and formidable, that he fully expects to see something impressive now.

But. Uh.

That's not what happens.

He quickens his step straight over to him as he falls, skidding to a stop and crouching to set a hand on his shoulder.] What happened? Are you all right?

[bufudyne]

[Yusuke's breaths leave him unevenly and he raises his face, gazing through the holes in his mask--though that's soon to disappear.]

I'm all right... I think.

I'm not certain what happened. [He looks down at his hands, flexing his fingers before gripping them into fists, looking back up to Keith.] Calling on my Persona has never made me feel that exhausted all at once.

[lonered]

[Yeah, Keith will be seeing about helping Yusuke up, at least to a sitting position on the sand. There's a frown on his face at what Yusuke says though, and Keith looks back towards the shore.]

Maybe it's something about this place. Or those things. Whatever they did to us to get us here could be interfering.

[Which is not good.] Whatever it is, maybe you should take it easy until we figure it out.

[bufudyne]

That's true...

[Yusuke's eyes narrow as he looks toward the water, shifting upright and swallowing the faint dizziness. At least it's quick to fade.]

I wanted to see if there were some way I could freeze us a path back... Perhaps if I'd been at my usual, I could.

[lonered]

They probably were aware of that too.

[That some of their captives have abilities that make them fairly formidable as captives go.]

Maybe if you have some time to recover, you could try again. ...starting small.

[But.] For now... why don't we go find somewhere to sit down.

[bufudyne]

[Yusuke slowly gets himself to his feet, brushing some of the sharp rocks from his clothing before he nods.]

For a little while. This island certainly isn't the pinnacle of comfort...

There's some wood I've gathered that way, if we wanted to sit by a fire. [He nods in the direction.]

[lonered]

Definitely not. But yeah, let's get a fire going.

[Keith nods and lingers to make sure that Yusuke is secure on his feet now, after whatever it is that happened. He worries about his friend, about all of them trapped in this place.]

Warming up sounds pretty great right now.

[bufudyne]

[Yusuke's steadier, for sure. Still tired, and he frowns at his inability to use his Persona as he usually would, but he focuses on what can be done right now. He gestures for Keith to follow as he starts to walk.]

Indeed... this place is extremely inhospitable. In more ways than one.

Rescue-B

[guideyouhome]

H-Hey are you okay?

[Kairi's never seen this guy before, but the state he's in is kinda how she's feeling too. So he's probably been trapped here too right? She grabs his shoulder and shakes it.]

C'mon... you gotta get up!

[bufudyne]

[Eyes snap open immediately, at least, and Yusuke furrows his brow with a tired frown.

Then he focuses on Kairi, inclining his head.]

Got to-- ah, right. It would still not be wise to sleep when some of those creatures could be lurking around.

[guideyouhome]

Y-Yeah... that's right. But rescue is here too! We should hurry!

Can you walk? I can try to carry you!

[bufudyne]

No, you needn't do that. [She doesn't look like she would be able to... not that Yusuke's a particularly heavy or large individual, trending toward tall and lanky, but still.]

Perhaps just your shoulder, I would appreciate.

[He pushes himself upright. Fighting, trying to survive, everything has left him weak-limbed and he's not too proud to admit he needs assistance.]

Yusuke-kun? I understand your surprise completely and I also admire your drive to solve this mystery, but do you maybe want to try and hunt down some firewood?

[ Maya is also dripping. And in a peasant nightgown, but you know, she doesn't sleep in her full outfit, that would just be strange. ]

[bufudyne]

[Yusuke turns his head toward her, blinking as he becomes quickly aware that hey, there's water dripping into his eyes. He should probably try to solve this later, yeah. Some anxiety is assuaged seeing Maya's familiar face, at least.]

...Yes. That would probably be for the best, we won't be as able to do much when we're soaked.

[scooptimistic]

And I don't know about you, but catching a cold right after a kidnapping is just adding insult to injury!

[ So let's definitely not stand here dripping. ]

[bufudyne]

...Certainly, [he says with a scrunch of his nose. Kidnapping. Yeah. That is what this is.]

There's not much to this island, is there?

[He turns toward where they can walk up from the beach, further from the water. Inland means... wood and other things they can use for tinder, right?]

[scooptimistic]

[ Sure. Not a whole lot of wood, sadly, but maybe soggy driftwood!!! ]

Yeah... I guess they probably don't need much, and they don't want to give us much to work with either.

[bufudyne]

It would be unwise to provide your victims with the means to escape or fight you.

[Which makes their circumstances... quite grim. Yusuke looks serious.]

[scooptimistic]

Well!

[ with a huff. ]

That's fine, I'm sure if we band together, we can at least fend them off!

Rescue - A

[totheno1]

Young man!

[The voice is Kei's and seeing the other Persona user shaking but still using his last remaining energy to fight increases his own resolution to destroy these creatures as fast as possible. In a flash of light Vishnu appears above him and he casts a healing spell on the teenager; perhaps not healing him in full, but hoping this will help in some way replenish some of his energy.

Then with that done, it's time to show them what it really means to mess around with Persona users, especially ones cornered in this manner.]

Your ice attack...do it again! We can merge our spells together!

[Vishnu's hands suddenly let off steam, readying an ice spell in it's clawed fingers. He would wait for the other to go first. ]

[bufudyne]

[Not healing in full, no, but the scrapes, the bruises he's sustained while on the island are soothed, some of the ache receding. He manages to straighten up some, nodding once, his hand already flicking up to his face.]

Very well...

Kamu Susano-o!

[His Persona appears in a gush of light once more, swinging sword mightily as ice shoots forth.]

[Now that it's his turn, Kei just nods at Vishnu.]

I'm depending on you!

[The Persona unleashes an attack of its own, but then the ice attacks merge and explode together into the Ice Blast spell; stronger than either individually and hitting with a deadly force without wasting as much energy. One of the sirens appears to be frozen solid and the others have taken some damage. Kei points to the one who isn't moving anymore. It should be an easier target for him, and he can concentrate on distracting the others.]

Finish it off if you can!

[bufudyne]

[Yusuke doesn't think he has much left in him, but he's running on the last dregs of his energy, determined to see things through. He feels they ought to strike down the enemy that stole them all here, would have seen them killed.

So he gestures with one hand, a ripping of the mask on his face and Kamu Susano-o swoops forward to shatter the ice with a sweep of the sword, shattering the siren inside in the process.]

[It is rather satisfying to see it shatter in this way. But they can't stop there. With that spell completed, the Persona's hands burst into flames at it launches a Maragidyne at them, burning those that stood nearby and weren't frozen. It's more of a warning at this point than anything else. ]

Let's get you to safety. This may help should they get any ideas...

[A rusted sword is tossed at him; one of the weapons from an early expedition. It's not a great weapon, but considering the situation, it will do.]
