QUEST 12, ANNABETH

[hydrokinetics]

[It was easy enough to pick a quest partner. He was used to questing with Annabeth and it worked out that she was classified as yellow. Reading the quest...well. It sounded just about as stupid as anything else they've done and he meets up with her that morning with Riptide still in its pen form and fairly relaxed. The burns from before had finally started to fade and he grins brightly at her.]

Hey. So invisible sheep should be a piece of cake shouldn't they? Doesn't sound too difficult.

[athenite]

[ there's some way to make this easier. she knows it, there's stories about fighting invisible foes, but they all just...can't seem to stay in her head.

but annabeth rarely likes to admit to weakness.

as in she does not like to do that, ever, ]

We've fought worse. [ you're not supposed to fight the sheep... ] Think you can manage to get the wool off with Riptide?

[hydrokinetics]

[Percy is happily oblivious to that and just assumes that Annabeth will come up with a plan when they get closer. And if not, then they do it his way and improvise. That's never gone poorly.]

Shouldn't be that hard. It's cut things before so as long as you can hold them down for at least five seconds I'll get what we need.

[athenite]

Just be careful not to hurt the sheep, I suppose. [ no but for real. she pauses. ] Unless they're carnivorous invisible sheep, in which case go ahead.

[hydrokinetics]

Polyphemus's flesh-eating sheep were bad enough. Invisible carnivorous sheep is obviously the next step up but I'm still on vacation here.

[It's a joke. Demigods never get a vacation. He nods though and he gestures with his head in the opposite direction.] Ready? Let's start out this way and see what we can find.

Yes, okay. So if I left you in charge of planning, what would it look like? I'm morbidly curious.

[hydrokinetics]

It would look like maybe taking Mrs. O'Leary out and letting her sniff around? But I'm pretty sure the sheep would also bail as soon as she got close so we're taking the long route. Invisible or not, they'd leave tracks wouldn't they?

QUEST 11, MINATO

[hydrokinetics]

[It's one thing to read about a quest that requires you to share a painful memory. It's another to agree to it, but the thing is that Minato seems like the most easygoing person to try this with. He seems to understand some things that Percy doesn't have to explain regarding his lineage which is nice, but on the other hand he's not sure how to handle that.

Either way, he agrees to meet with Minato to try this thing, but for safe measures he brings Mrs. O'Leary along. The dog lops along beside him, knocking out a tree with her tail and Percy winces as it bends back almost enough to snap.

But the dog's excited to see Minato and woofs as Percy grins, waving a little in addition.]

See the good thing is at least I'll get to keep my shoes for this quest. [What?]

[messianic]

[In all honesty, Minato finds this quest invasive--not necessarily for himself, but for other people who may not be ready to talk about it. But Percy reached out to him, and Minato likes Percy; there's a similar sort of wavelength to them, he feels, and if it means sharing with anyone, Percy seems like a good bet.

Besides... if he can be a good listening and help, then he will.

So Minato arrives, smiling a little to see Mrs. O'Leary.]

Ah... hi, Mrs. O'Leary-chan. [Yep.] And hey--

[... A blink.]

Your...shoes?

[hydrokinetics]

[A bark at her name and she immediately flops down so that Minato can pet her. It's unfortunate but Percy just kind of lets it happen even as he shakes his head.]

When the wish quest was on the forum, a girl wished for my shoes to see if we could find the quest-giver. It kind of just ended up with a long dive back into the well to go after my shoe.

[Well. He will absolutely be petting the doggo. He has to. He must.]

... That sounds...

[A lot like someone he's met.]

Sorry. That sounds pretty rough. I promise you can keep your shoes this time.

[hydrokinetics]

I would appreciate that. [There's a lopsided little grin though. Mafuyu happens so much, but it is what it is.] Let me ask you something. Are all quests here as vague as these ones have been?

Yep. Sometimes they're even worse.

[Nice, thanks.]

Sometimes they're straightforward, but it doesn't really seem like the place can make up its mind... at least the sad memory one is pretty hard to misunderstand.

[Though still very difficult for a lot of people, he'd imagine.]

QUEST 11, IZUKU

[hydrokinetics]

[Well, he hadn't actually made plans to talk to Izuku about the quests. It's not even his intention to do so when he goes to seek the other boy out, hands in his pockets and Mrs. O'Leary following along. It's easier for her to pick up where Izuku might be hiding anyway and soon they pinpoint him.

The burns are less and Percy approaches, calling out to him not long after.]

Hey dude. [Is he just checking in? Yeah, maybe.]

[inheritance]

Jackson-kun! [Izuku looks up from the flowers he's been tending to in the gardens, a warm smile on his face.]

Hey yourself. [His expression only brightens further when he spots the hell hound lurking behind him.] And Mrs. O'Leary, too!

[hydrokinetics]

[Hours later, I still hate "Jackson-kun." Mrs. O'Leary woofs and Percy laughs because wow that's a weird form of his name, but he'll take it.]

Like I said, she wanders and comes back. [His eyes dart to the flowers though.] I didn't know you were working on the gardens, too.

[inheritance]

I'm not in here all the time. Gardening really isn't my forte. [ Izuku brushes dirt off his hands and then hops to his feet.]

I just like moving some of the flowers I find into the gardens. The ones that have their color back. It makes everything look more cheerful, you know?

[hydrokinetics]

I can't say I disagree with that. Who likes colorless flowers? [He's still eyeing the garden though.] It'll be cool when they all have some color back, but that's gonna take a little longer than I was hoping. Or that's what I've heard.

[inheritance]

Yeah... it's kind of slow going right now. [Izuku looks down at the flowers for a moment before pulling up a smile.]

But... it'll be fine! We'll bring the color back one way or another, even if it takes a little longer than we expected. Doing the quests should help that along.

QUEST 14, MAYA

[hydrokinetics]

[After the week of hell...

Positivity doesn't seem that hard and Maya also seems like a great person to try. It takes a little coordination to figure out a time to meet with her, but he finds himself relaxing as he approaches her. He's in a bright orange t-shirt today instead of the blue swim team hoodie he was wearing the first time they met, and he's aware it says CAMP HALF-BLOOD on it and that it's seen better days...but whatever.

Maya already knows, so it's whatever.

He does offer a small grin though when he comes to a stop near her.]

So. Ready to be positive? [Ha. Ha.]

Ciao, Percy!

[ yeah, judging from her smile, Maya is more than ready to be positive. But just in case he can't read the brackets-- ]

I was born ready! Though I'm not exactly sure what we're meant to be doing with it...

That's kind of where I'm getting stuck, too. The post said "be positive" but not even a clue how to be successful. But it's probably too easy just to say "I'm positive!" and hope that works, huh?

Probably! But, I'm sure if we can wring out some positivity through this encounter alone, we'll ace it in no time!

You've already got a head start, it looks like. [Seriously Maya.] Are you usually this upbeat?

I don't think I'm acting any different than usual... so probably?
