Yeah, I wouldn't recommend being a halfblood to most people. But at the same time maybe it's better that we handle these things than mortals.

Because at least we have the advantage that mortals don't. If it'll keep them safe, that's what counts.

[His brow furrows a little, and then he shakes his head.]

I want to do what I can too. To protect people, and to keep them safe. Even if I am just a mortal... I think it's that way for a lot of people.

[A frown.] I'm not saying mortals can't help. My mom and my stepdad held their own really well during the Titan war. It's just that not all mortals can really see what it is they're fighting either. It puts them at a disadvantage.

Sometimes prophecies are like that. [So yes.] Think about it this way, Minato. Would you accept help from someone if it meant they could get hurt, or would you do what's best for everyone at large?

But I think it sounds...terribly lonely, to bear all of that by yourself.

[There's a slight grin.]

I have Annabeth. And my other friends. They understand when I have to do things on my own and I'm starting to figure out when they have to do things themselves, too. I guess I never thought of it as lonely though.

[messianic]

You must be pretty strong then.

[It's good that he has his friends to support him, but even so... well, Minato can't imagine trying to tackle the things he had to tackle this past year on his own.]

To be able to do all of that all of this time, and never feel like it's lonely.

...up until I got to Camp, I didn't really have a lot of friends. I got kicked out of school a lot and it was hard to settle in when I had to find a new one every year. Plus I used to get in trouble a lot for everything. [A shrug. He used to be a lot lonelier.] Having them now kind of gets rid of any sort of loneliness that could come up even if I don't see them all the time or I have to take on quests myself. Knowing they'll be waiting for me makes it better.

Well, I'm glad that you're happier now. [And, a little sheepishly:] Sorry, but the way. I didn't mean to turn this into an interrogation or anything.

It's fine, dude. But if this doesn't count as passing the quest then I'm going to have to have a long talk with whoever this guy is. [He's maybe kidding. Maybe.] ...thanks for being cool with all of it.
