t's a beautiful day today. The sun is shining, the Town is peaceful...and there's a new fluffy (or scaly or slimy or who knows what) friend living in your home, staring at you. One moment they're gone, then next they're there, staring at you with bright, inquisitive eyes.

[ he is, generally, not an animal person - not that he dislikes them, but he doesn't care to have a pet. While a lot of his friends have managed to end up providing for at least one (usually mutated) animal during their stay here, Lupin remains a free man. Sure, there are the pink dance bees he got in a jar that he freed and which seem to have taken up residence near his house, but he doesn't actively tend to them; and sure, Akechi has a cat that he keeps in their house, but Lupin only cares for it when he really needs to.
Which means he's very puzzled when a fox, of all creatures, appears and starts following him around. For one thing, he's never seen one around here before now. For another, it's so friendly that he doesn't even believe it is a fox at first - but it's very obviously not a dog. He tries to shoo it away, even tries to direct it to the woods, but no matter what he does, it comes trotting back to him, tame as a puppy, and by the mid-afternoon, he's given up, standing in front of his house and its budding rosebushes with a cute, fluffy fox sitting on its haunches in front of him, looking up inquisitively. When he sees someone pass by, he lifts a hand to get their attention-- ]
Hey! You don't happen to know what foxes like to eat, do you?
[ that must be the problem, right?! ]

[ It was not the problem. The little guy wouldn't leave him alone. Lupin eventually had to concede defeat and let it into his house - which has turned out to not be as bad as he was expecting. For being a fox, it's friendly, cuddly, even, and house-trained, too. Maybe he could get used to this.
It even started bringing back presents to his room! Presents that... your character might be missing.
In the latter half of the week, the fox begins to nick items from other peoples' houses and bring them back to Lupin's room. If your character doesn't know him very well, they might only be missing some food or socks. If they're a good friend of Lupin's, however, it might take something seriously important to them. They might come home to find it missing entirely... or they might catch the little black fox high-tailing it out of a door or window, the stolen prize firmly clutched in its jaws as it sprints back to Lupin's house. Chase down that culprit!! ]

[Trotting proudly behind Tonbokiri is a small boar, who blinks large brown eyes at the fox, then stares steadily at Lupin.]

Thieves have no place in this world. Moreover, some game would make for a nice change in meal. So he has every reason to kill the critter.
But he won't. His priority is to retrieve the bottle of white vinegar the fox has taken, not that he understands why a fox would want such a thing (nor does he care enough to find out). Truly, Chroma makes little sense!
He walks briskly, keeping the little black fox within his sights. For his persistence, he's led to a house not too far from his own. Just as well—this isn't worth trekking across districts. Berkut waits for the negligent master to show himself.
That was the plan, anyway. He blinks, and suddenly the miniature dragon that's been glued to his side is wrestling with the fox over that stupid bottle.
What is this? He has no need for the help of a mousy, flying lizard. He takes a long stride toward the quarreling animals. ]

Nero has to get it back at all costs. Though she does not spot the fox in action (or else she would have visited her punishment on it, thoroughly, for daring to sneak into the emperor's bedchambers), she manages to catch sight of it entering Lupin's abode, of all abodes. With her long, red blade in one hand, she raps loudly on the entrance to Lupin's home with her other. ]

He's just come in his room when he sees it, the black tail of the fox as it darts out the window and away, clutching something in its mouth. He can't be sure what it took, but he hurries out after it, running full tilt, the little mouse on his head clinging to his hair for dear life.
He'll make it to Lupin's house less than a minute after the fox, crashing in just as the fox is delivering its prize: a tiny pin, made to wear on someone's lapel.]

[ dextera wakes up, like everyone else in town, to an unusual extra animal sitting in his room—leliel is outside with the other chickens, he knows this, but the rough size and weight is enough for his bleary mind to think that his chicken has come back into the room somehow.
so he moves to examine it, and: ]
Waaaoohh?!
[ it’s probably the loudest noise dextera has ever made, which is still not very loud, and his voice in fact gives out, but what has caused him to yell would probably get a scream from anyone.
a strange, spider-like creature scuttles away from him at the sound, and imploringly blinks the eyes on its joints at him. ]
[ the spider, the Sun by its technical name, is complaisant enough. it follows dextera without causing much trouble, and besides from looking horrifying, it doesn’t seem dangerous.
it’s just that dextera knows otherwise, so he’s on edge about it at every possible opportunity. rightfully so, because it’s only a matter of time before he catches it prowling around the chicken coop. ]

[ it’s a fast little bastard, though, so it easily escapes his attempts to grab it, and bobs up and down like it’s just playing a game. ]
[ if you’re unfortunate enough to be someone dextera considers a friend, or even someone that dextera has a personal investment in, be prepared to come home to find this horrible pseudo-organic spider having plastered a web of thick, bright green mucus over your door. it sits in the middle, wiggling ominously every time anyone tries to approach.
if you do try to disturb it without dextera’s help, it spits out a blue mist—and prepare to suddenly be moving veeeeeery sloooooooooooowly. ]

[ Kasen just happened to be walking by the coop, great owl perched on her arm, when she catches sight of said creature - it just has to be supernatural in nature! [ he has never seen an animal like this in his entire life. If it's even an animal - it's so strange-looking that he has to wonder if it's some kind of machine, or... something else entirely. He has no idea. Not that it matters - knowing its identity is not going to get it off his front door, nor is it going to clean that awful goop off (god, he hopes it comes off.)
Hesitantly, he sticks out his cane to poke at the creature, hoping it'll get scared and run off. It does not. It shoots gas at him. Which he manages to mostly avoid, scrambling back with all the honed thief-speed he can muster... and which leaves him back at square one. ]

it’s mostly fine now. dextera’s arm is out of a sling, at least, between his own ability to heal himself and that fact that it was a fine, clean break. his plan was to go to apologize to cairngorm for making them do that in the first place once he was healed enough that it didn’t look so bad anymore, but now there are animals. there’s a very angry ram, actually, and as soon as dextera spots it, he backs right up. ]

[Yes, there are details that would seem off about Keigo's new pet to anyone who might see it. It's strange for a dog to have a perfectly circular black hole with a number tattooed below it on its back. That mask might look a little too skull-like. Odd, but nothing to be worried about if they don't know what those details mean.
Keigo knows what they mean. In his world, monsters with holes and masks like that are soul-sucking monsters known as Hollows.
The dog itself is nothing but friendly and cute, though.
Cute enough that Keigo sometimes forgets for a moment. He might reach down to scratch it behind the ears and brush against bone. He might feel the dog nudge his leg and look down with a smile only to see the dark hole.
He jerks back with a yell, his reaction, on the surface, absolutely out of line with the offense.]

As much as Kyrie would love to say, truthfully, that this morning was the first time he'd ever started a day with a crow perched comfortably on his shoulder... he would definitely be lying. It's not even the second, or the third--it's happened countless times, but all generally at least when he was made of straw. There's just no excuse for it to be happening here and now.
It's just your average crow, but considering his experience with the town's previous gifts, he's hesitant to do anything to seriously damage it. This one doesn't seem to talk, at least, but that doesn't mean the decision to kill it won't come with its own set of fun and exciting consequences... He doesn't trust it.
So, somewhere around the center of town, Kyrie decides to play a fun game of fetch with his newfound friend!! Or rather that's how the crow's decided to take it, anyway. An outsider is more likely to see that he's busy throwing stones at it--quite accurately in fact! And while the crow seems perfectly content to bring them back to him (and even pick up new ones to drop at his feet) no matter how many times he knocks it down, it's clearly the only one happy with the arrangement. Why can't it just take the hint and leave...??
"This is exactly why I hate animals..." And just think, it hasn't even done anything yet.
II. Caws for alarm (Midweek)
A few days in, Kyrie's given up on trying to get rid of the crow. He has bigger problems: not only does he have to deal with a feral, kitten-sized lion while he's home, but he has to deal with a jealous, angry corvid while he's out.
Leaving the house ends up being preferable by a small margin, if only for the sake of avoiding tiny claws and teeth tearing into him the moment he tries to get some rest. Unfortunately, that means he can't particularly be bothered to watch for when his own feathered terror decides to go after some hapless passerby.III. All in favor of a town-wide ban on pets say aye?? (Late Week)
By the end of the week, Kyrie's crow is mysteriously absent! Hmmm. Maybe it's just at home. Resting. Possibly eternally? Hey, don't worry about it!! But, of course, he hasn't been totally free from the chaos, and he's got the bandages to prove it. Turns out, scarecrows don't make very good scratching posts.
He finds himself going on a lot of walks through town until things settle down again. And if anyone he comes across happens to have their new and shiny friend with them, regardless of its existing interest in him or lack thereof, he'll pause.
"You haven't gotten rid of that awful thing yet?"
He's judging.

i. Morning, Bluo
It’s fortunate that he’s not in the habit of sleeping like a normal person…or sleeping at all, or he might not have caught the Town’s latest surprise in time. But you don’t need to worry about his bedroom habits right now. Maybe you’re just passing by or maybe you’re stopping by for a visit—either way, you’ll hear a loud shattering noise from above, followed by shards of falling glass and Tristan taking a flying leap from the second-story window to execute a solid three-point landing right next to you. In the crook of his arm is a picture frame hastily wrapped up in one of those weird blankets he never really uses.
In the meantime, golden tentacles studded with geometric red eyes spill out of the window as if to reach out to him. But as they’re only about two feet long at best, they fail to do so and immediately recede back indoors.
Tristan immediately turns to you, his golden eyes wide open and alert as he reaches out to grab you with his free hand.
“We must make haste. Those…things will find their way down here before long.”
ii. Anytime, Anywhere
The horrors of his own “cute” animal companion aside, he’s managed to find some time off to simply patrol the Town like always. He’s relieved to see that you’re okay, by the way, and you both even strike up a conversation as you meander about the districts together.
However, it isn’t long before Tristan cocks his head from side to side, before turning back to you.
“How strange. It feels as though something is clinging to my hair.” And that something is indeed your pet, trying to chew/climb/insert terrible thing up his hair. You…You’d better do something about that.
iii. The second prompt, but extra spicy
You’re alone in some isolated part of town when the somewhat squeaky but decidedly ominous voice of legion calls out to you—
“You!” If you search for the source of the voices, you’ll encounter a slithering golden swarm of tentacles, either rooted to the ground or sprouting from a nearby barrel, window, doorway, the shadows, or what have you. And while their anger might not be immediately apparent, the fiery glow of their multitude of geometric red eyes might clue you in on what precisely they plan on doing to you within the next few seconds.
“You who dared to cast a shadow upon the light of Truth, know the wrath of the Gazing Star Amon!”
Not to worry; before those laser beams can reach you, Tristan immediately swoops in out of nowhere to tackle you out of range.
“Are you all right?” he frantically asks you, as craters sizzle in the aftermath of the demon pillars’ attack. “Are you hurt? Did they—”

[ She knows the town is at it again with its shenanigans, what with all the strange animal companions clinging to their persons. But that thing, whatever it is, doesn’t even pass as “cute”. Very bizarre, very magnificent in its own right, and very interesting at most, sure, but the question remains of what it is. And why it seems to be attacking others.
Her questions die on her tongue as she noticed the eyes glowing, the hum of energy charging and concentrating once more like a hum to her ears. Her lips part in a gasp, and a hand goes to his arm urgently, ready to push him away or pull him towards her for safety. ] —It’s going to attack again!
[ If he doesn’t make a move to stop it, she’ll be raising a shield to block another volley of lasers. ]

[ Kasen has set up a small booth, Lucy Peanuts style, on the side of the road. The sign on top proclaims in big bold letters ANIMAL CONSULTANT: KASEN IBARAKI and in slightly smaller letters underneath "Found yourself being followed by an animal you have no idea what to do with? Feeling unsure on how to tame them? I'm here to help! Consultation Free of Charge!" (She's met enough cheapskates and pennypinchers in her lifetime to know that stressing that last part is important).
Kasen herself sits behind the booth, looking extremely giddy at the prospect of meeting new animals. They're obviously somewhat supernatural in nature, especially judging by the size of some of them, so she's eager to look into this new incident.
On her shoulder is perched a dignified looking Great owl that is currently snoozing. A little ways away, her other animal companions, Mukou and Kanda are seated, looking extremely put out for some reason. They keep shooting angry glances in the direction of the owl. ]
Note: Kasen has animal taming abilities - she works very well with all kinds of animals, even ones that are supernatural in nature. That said, how much you want her and your pet to actually get along is up to you!

[ If you head on over to the animals instead, you'll see that Mukou is holding up a sign with an... interesting image scribbled on it. Hey, Mukou may have opposable thumbs but he ain't no miracle worker. It's not like he could have left the job to Kanda - he only has wings and talons.
It looks like it's a very difficult time to be an animal companion. Normally, neither of them would be opposed to Kasen taking on another pet because she does that all the time. But this new one? He's a real piece of work, for sure. Constantly snapping at them, getting unreasonably fierce every time they get too close to their mistress. What's this all about? On top of that, owls are like... the sworn enemy of raijuu! (so are eagles, but Mukou and Kanda are good friends). Kanda could probably take the owl on in a fight, but he's Kanda and thereby, useless.
No, Mukou will need to recruit some help. ]

[ Quest 58 reads: Find and retrieve the Philosopher's Stone, and within a nice hefty part of the forest is a cauldron. Perhaps you're here because you've wandered on your own, perhaps you've decided to undertake this quest with Pyra just because it's something to do, or maybe you're just here to explore the wonderful world of alchemy with her! Regardless of the reason, you're here now with a cauldron of strange and mysterious contents coming to a rolling boil within.
There's only one more ingredient to add now, which would be blood. But Pyra has already completed this quest before! Thus she wonders, and she wonders some more of what would happen if she added something else that isn't blood. After all, this isn't chemistry; a cauldron isn't a beaker, and the few minced ingredients thrown into the pot aren't measured. Pyra has gathered the following: sanded off bits of brick from Rugo, water (uh, "water") from the canals of Bluo, and soil from the weed-covered once-gardens of Flavo. ] What have you gathered?
[ For those curious, her tiny little pet is no where to be found at the moment... which is just fine for now, since it's not on some murder-spree. ]

[ There is a good chance that Pyra enjoys your company, considers herself a friend to you, or just plainly likes you. Which mean her vastly scaled-down size of her dragon is going to be going after you like it's no one's business. But spoilers! If you look closely at it, it seems as if it's made of metal....? Weird. A meta-mechanical dragon, almost, yet with all the grace of something organic.
ANYWAYS IT HATES YOU. It hates you with a burning passion. It hates you so much that it's....! Going to try to murder you! With its tiny little mouth and tiny little tail! Which, with its small size, probably doesn't do anything but tickle you! Fear its wrath, die, mortal!!
Cue Pyra jogging up to you, looking at you concerned. ]
I.... I apologize for my "pet's" behavior. [ She'll say, bowing slightly towards you as it attempts to pull at your hair, and with each subsequent tug it becomes stronger. ] He... normally isn't like this, I promise! In my world.

earlylate morning air.The day had started off pleasantly enough. He’d been in the middle of a nice dream, smiling as a little tongue enthusiastically licked his face. “You’re a naughty one,” he’d murmured, “waking me up like this.” His hand had come up, resting on soft fur, and his eyes had slowly opened………

[ Jumping on Wei Wuxian’s bed, with a series of enthusiastic yips is this eldritch abomination. ]

[ —he asks you, in a terrified whisper. It is, in fact, not gone. Around the corner, the tiny little puppy is circling round and round, sniffing the ground, and looking as dejected as an adorably cute little creature can be. ]

[ Hello there, friend or stranger. One (1) Wei Wuxian is going to be running right at you and climbing you like a tree, trying to escape from this terrible, no good, very bad… puppy. This puppy jumping around and barking happily. It even has a stick in its mouth, desperate to be played with. ]

[ Like everyone else in this town, no doubt, Magilou wakes up in the morning to see a small white rabbit staring at her from the floor, bowtie and all, paws in front of it like it's the most well-behaved creature in the world.
Ah. So this must be the new gimmick this time. She tries to shoo it out the door, but it's simply having none of it; in fact, it seems to actively resist any attempt at getting away from her. Once it's had enough of her shenanigans, it jumps onto her hat and nests there somehow, despite her hat's oversized stature.
Well... She's a witch, so maybe a cat would have been more appropriate. But she won't say no to a magician's apprentice, either. This one seems like it'll be better at following orders than even Bienfu! So she's going to be practicing tricks all day in the center of town with a little rabbit as her familiar. As soon as someone walks by, she's going to call out - ]
You! Come see our new act! Completely free of charge this time - we're still practicing, so forgive the amateur here, but you'll get to see some amazing tricks, courtesy of the new Magilou's Magnificent Misadventures!
[ And so she takes off her hat, proudly displaying that it's completely empty. She waves a hand over it, and suddenly - a little rabbit pokes its head up. Then it jumps over to you, expecting a treat for its performance. Chop chop! (The rabbit didn't get the "free" memo.) ]

[ ...Unfortunately, as the week progresses, the catch shows itself, as it always does here.
The rabbit is still docile, and still a willing participant in her act, but it has a curious new hobby: it absolutely loves to chew on clothes. It started chomping at her stockings, getting precariously close to her legs; then it moved to her bookskirt, fraying the edges of one of the books before she was able to get its little teeth away from her precious tomes.
By the middle of the week, Magilou has shamefully switched out of her normal clothes and into some random peasant garb she picked up in an abandoned building, and even that looks chewed through. She still has her hat on - rabbit in tow, of course - but she's completely put-out over having to wear something normal. In order to fix this, she'll walk up to the first person she sees and bug them. ]
Hey, you don't know how to fix clothes, do you? Like, little teeth marks and all that.
[ On top of her hat, the rabbit puts one paw over the other proudly. ]
iii.
[ By the end of the week? The rabbit is utterly unhinged.
It's taken the clothes chewing hobby to a logical extreme. Anyone in town who has at least heard of Magilou before - even if you've never talked, and have only heard tales of Magilou's Menagerie - will find a small item of clothing missing. Sometimes it might be that the rabbit broke into your house and stole a hat, or a shoe, or a sock. If you're particularly unlucky, the rabbit might try and steal the clothes right off of you as you pass by Magilou when she walks by you in town. It takes every single article of clothing it steals into Magilou and Sinistra's house and makes a nest of them to feast on later. If you try to steal them back, you'll see a particularly angry rabbit guarding its treasure, ears flat against its head and its chompers bared. She... just looks tired from having to deal with this. She doesn't really make any indication to stop the rabbit.
At least she doesn't have to feed it. ]

[ mysteriously, though, sierra is not just walking away from the rabbit, even as she stares down at it in disdain for its precious, sweet face. ]

[Waking up to the full weight of a large-dog sized dragon on top of him was not exactly how Rin had expected to begin his day. That was the nature of the town, though, wasn't it? As startling as it had been at first, especially with those small but sharp teeth being the first thing he saw, the heavy creature apparently meant him no harm. Surprising, considering their last encounter with dragons.
There were excited chitters and a big dopey grin once he was awake enough, large paws patting his blanket in an enthusiastic little dance. Whatever type of dragon this was, it was likely unrelated to the ones that had attacked them.
Well, this was certainly better than being stuck as a snow queen for a week.
There was a tiny voice of protest in his mind, wondering what was going to go wrong this time, but that was quickly dashed away by a cute headbutt-nuzzle that earned a soft 'aww' from him as well as an affectionate rub of the dragon's head.
Ayame the kitten was less than amused that this big lummox had invaded her space, but being a much smaller cat meant all she could really do was sit with a narrow-eyed gaze on a dresser and flick her tail in displeasure.
Nothing that could really be done about that. It seemed wherever Rin went, this dragon was going to follow with boundless energy and joy. She behaved enough to keep out of his way in the kitchen, but the moment he moved out to the dining area she was there at his side, bouncing along while he served dishes and cleaned up tables.
Which, of course, was an interesting way to start conversations in the cafe.]
I mean, it could be worse.
[Famous last words.]

Ow! Ayame, what the hell?!
[Its only been a few days with their new companion in the cafe. It was going great at first, the dragon even becoming helpful to Rin's tasks in the kitchen. She carried trays on her head, perfectly balanced, freeing up Rin's hands and making the job just a little easier.
He had to open his big mouth about the 'could be worse' thing, though, didn't he?
He was now holding a towel to several gashes on his arm courtesy of Ayame's claws and her tearing over him to seemingly get away from the dragon. Said dragon was, to Rin's perception, simply sitting on the other side of the kitchen with her tail moving slowly across the floor. She looked for all the world like an innocent party in whatever had caused Ayame to panic, sending her on top of a set of containers with puffed fur.
Rin sighed and went over to the cat, attempting to reach out a slow hand to calm her.]
Hey, c'mon, I know you don't like her but you two gotta get along...
[Her response was a short hiss before bounding off, running out of the kitchen to hide somewhere in the house.]
Ayame! ... geez. What got in to her?

[It was absolutely their new friend that was the problem.
She was pretty stealthy about it at first. Little things, like tormenting Ayame when Rin's back was turned. Bumping in to people who came in to the cafe frequently, enough that they would trip and fall. Knocking objects over. All of it just out of Rin's sight.
Thankfully, unlike some of the others that seem to be having issues with their new companions the dragon didn't seem violent, just destructive and willing to cause a few bruises if it meant less people (or cats) around Rin.
It does take a bit for him to notice, and even complaints are met with a dismissive wave of a hand and "She's just a bit big for this place" from him for a time. Eventually, though, he knows he can't keep ignoring what this dragon is doing. He also knows he can't just shoo her away, either. She's way too determined to be at his side every second of every day.
Unfortunately for those entering the cafe towards the end of this nonsense, you're liable to wind up with a nasty cut of your own thanks to the crystals on the dragon's tail lashing out upon entry.]

[ While her roommate dealt with, horror of horrors, a tiny dog, Nero woke up and found herself with a lion next to her bed, nuzzling its master. One might think that waking up with a carnivore next to her would freak her out, but she felt little of the sort after the initial shock...mostly due to its small size compared to those of actual lions. To Nero however, it is still adorable. Fluffy, for one. Majestic despite its relatively small size, for another. And lastly, amiable and obedient. That is enough she needs to take a quick liking to the small fluffy lion, mane and all.
The two can be found out and about in the town, tending to one of the many wooden raised garden boxes by watering the newly-grown small rose bush resting in it, or Nero working on constructing a new wooden box and hammering some pieces of wood together. She is not a carpenter, but she believes she can do it, and so she can, thanks to a certain imperial privilege she deems for herself.
Occasionally, the lion picks up a tool or a watering can in its mouth, and gently hands it over to its master, like a trained pet. Nero accepts it with a smile, and, feeling a nearby citizen's glance or stare upon the two of them working on the wooden raised rose garden box, looks over to meet it. ]
Hm? Are you intrigued? I will not turn away any idle hands that long to care for things as beautiful as these.
[ Since clearly, that's why they're staring at the lion and emperor pair. Because of the rose tending, right? ]

[ After a while, the small lion lets up its docile facade and gives way to something a bit more...feral. Ripping at clothes, gnawing or scratching at furniture, growling at her roommate. The safest place for it to be isn't their home (full of art pieces she'd like to keep safe, as well as not wanting to make her roommate panic any more than he already does with a small puppy at his side), but her side, so despite her growing misgivings, she takes the animal out and about with her.
While Nero's back is turned and the emperor is occupied by tending to one of the rose boxes in town, the small lion tries to indulge in its more mischievous or animalistic side. Carnivorous, even, the way it might even be licking its lips, or opening its mouth wide in when it locks eyes with someone nearby.
...But that can't be it, right? ]

It's the perfect time, to Nero at least. After a day of sweating and working in the dirt for setting up rose boxes, of watching over her adorable lion companion in between (long) breaks, she can think of nothing better than a bath to wash away the grime and her cares. While Nero prepares the baths, towel wrapped around herself and humming (badly) to herself all the while, her pet lion sitting obediently nearby, she looks over to Saber, waiting in the wings. ]

sooOoo late but i bring an offering of more dogs;
[She starts the week with a large addition to the household: a fully grown Old English Sheepdog, fluffy-coated and intent on herding and protecting her.
But Berserker...seems to want nothing to do with it. Even with the dog on her heels, she's intent on ignoring it, stepping away to put distance between them every time it sniffs at her hand. The first dog she'd ever encountered had smelled death on her, and she'd ripped it to pieces. All this does is remind her of her miserable existence.
Eventually, standing in the middle of an open pathway in town, Berserker finally turns to acknowledge the dog...but only to make it go away.]
Uuhhhh! [It needs to get away from her!
She points down the street emphatically. In response, the dog...sits down on its haunches. Its eyes (and hers) are obscured behind fringe, but they continue to stare one another down for some time, resolute and motionless.]

[By the night of the first day, however, Frankenstein seems to have accepted the dog into her life. With the lower levels of magical energy in the air, it would be wise to revert to her spiritual form at night or when she otherwise isn't needed, but she hates the way that feels, hates putting herself in that situation. Stubbornly, against better logic, she stays in physical form as much as possible.
Despite trying to make the sheepdog leave just a scarce few hours before, she now seems content at least to sit with it outside in the dark, dress spread out beneath her as she reclines against its side and looks up at the sky. This time, when it nudges her arm with its nose, she doesn't seem to pull away.
They're both calm now, relaxing alone, and probably wouldn't object to any company.]

[Being bigger than some of the animal companions would probably make the sheepdog even more dangerous. Big dogs make for big bites, after all. And as the week goes on, the animal does become unpleasant, its protective vigil over Berserker becoming more and more aggressive. It seems intent on keeping her isolated.
But for the most part, its aggression manifests in small, petty ways, as if the dog is just too lazy to snarl or bite. When it isn't sitting behind Berserker and glowering at anyone who comes too near to her, it's obstructing people's paths in various ways.
Someone might try to leave their lodgings and find a deep hole or trench has been dug out of the ground, blocking their path. Or the dog might take things that others own and bury them, setting up a merry landmine field of a treasure hunt. It leaves flowers at the scene of the crime like a particularly innocuous calling card.
Or maybe it's just sleeping intentionally in the most inconvenient place, completely blocking points of egress. However it manifests, there are plenty of ways someone might find their life inconvenienced, even inadvertently threatened, by this ill-behaved, possessive dog.]

[When Akira woke up with a brown rabbit snuggled up to him, he thought he was dreaming at first. It was as friendly as can be, tame and affectionate, with soft brown fur, a white tail and underbelly. It let Akira pet it as much as he wanted to. It even followed him around the house, though he couldn't tell how a rabbit might've gotten in at the first instance. It wasn't a gift from anyone, either, but as far as he could tell others had animals suddenly appear for them, too.
Well, it seemed harmless enough, so Akira lets it keep him company. It's when he leaves the house to get some veggies and greens for it to eat that it decides to follow him across the streets -- little does he realise until it hops after him and right into someone's path.]
Snowtail! Hey! [He quickly scoops up the rabbit, turning to see whoever it almost tripped over.] Sorry...
II. murderbunny
[Wherever Akira is, whether at home, leaving the onsen, or sitting in a cafe, Snowtail insists on following. But as the days go on, Snowtail gets a lot colder towards strangers, until he does nothing but loaf at Akira's feet. Looks cute, right? Maybe he's just very lazy and spoiled.
Yet while he isn't as aggressive as other pets, if you try to pet him or get within touching distance of Akira, he will bite, hard. Fingers, ankles, anything he can reach. He might even try to chase off your pet, if you have one with you. Watch out!]
III.
devilbunnydevilcatte! (for Akechi)[At some point during this whole fiasco, Akira manages to get his bunny caged and staying put, only to realise his other pet -- Tako -- has gone missing. That's odd, and he almost wonders if he got into a fight with his rabbit and got scared away by how unusually aggressive it is. It's when he's out looking for his cat, he catches a glimpse of it going into the forest at dusk and decides to follow.
He managed to enlist Akechi's help, too-- better than going into the forest alone, and maybe as a fellow cat person, he understands! It's only when it's really getting dark that Akira stops in his tracks, turning to Akechi.]
Thanks for the help, but we should turn back. Maybe Tako will come home on his own.
[Little does Akira realise that as soon as he turns his back, there's a flash of light in the distance that Akechi will be able to spot between some trees.]

[ He steps backwards as he almost steps on a little brown rabbit. And wouldn't that just be what a villain does! Lightly shaking his head, he dismisses the apology given to him. His eyes widen a few seconds later as he recognizes the young man. ]
It seems like everyone has a nice pet to worry about now, ah?
[ Shen Qingqiu makes a small gesture behind him. A small, black rhinoceros comes waddling up behind him. It huffs loudly before opening its mouth and rather than a tongue a red serpent comes out. The python-tongue doesn't snap at the air but merely hisses softly before coiling back into the rhinoceros's mouth.
After a small beat, he reaches down to pick the rhinoceros up to hold it rather than let it wander around on the ground. ]
