Whatever~ [ He glances to the side, positioning himself upright. ] Right, we gotta work together and figure things out. I get it. [ He doesn't. But he realizes that patience is a virtue and maybe, just maybe, if he finds out how to break this curse properly he can actually kick this guys ass properly. ]

But if they're tryin' to get us to bring good fortune, that's gonna be a little hard between the two of us. We'll have to find some girl frogs.

[ working together wasn't really on Lupin's docket, either, but it's a step up from getting kicked in the face, so he doesn't complain. The comment about girl frogs does have him cocking his head bemusedly, though. ]

No, no, we just need to find some regular girls. Getting kissed by another frog won't do any good. [ pause. ] I think.

[ Lupin, on the other hand, looks faintly surprised that Choubee doesn't know what he's talking about. Sure, different worlds and all... It's just hard to remember that when he's talking to a frog. ]

Yeah. Haven't you ever heard of that old fairy tale? A prince is cursed and turned into a frog, and only true love's kiss can turn him back. [ he rubs his head idly. Why'd this guy have to kick him like that... ] ... I'm guessing the "true love" part doesn't apply here, but I'd bet that the rest does. You saw that quest on the forum, didn't you?

[ Listen... Lupin doesn't know his backstory, but not everyone grows up reading tales of princes turning into frogs. Some of us don't even read. ]

No. Only thing I've heard about frogs is that their eggs bring good fortune, or something like that... [ But neither interest him; save the stories for the library, he can learn all about once he's back to not having slimy skin. ] I did, but I sure as hell wasn't expectin' to be one of the unlucky bastards to actually turn.

[ It ain't right! He hasn't even stolen anything from anyone yet... what kind of luck. ]

So you're sayin' we gotta find someone who'll be willing to kiss frogs or else we're stuck like this. I hate this fuckin' place.

That makes two of us.

[ both not expecting to be on this end of the fairy tale and on hating this fuckin' place. He likes the people in this place. Everything else can go. His mood's soured even more after being accosted out of the blue by a random stranger; he sighs, a vaguely grouchy expression settling on his froggy face. Sure, he could ask why this guy attacked him, but he gets the sense that would only make him want to attack him yet again. Gut feeling. ]

It's a quest, so there should be some people willing to do it for the rewards.

[ Don't make him think it over... something about this frog rubs him the wrong way -- not that he doesn't seem genuine enough to where he simply wants to fix his (or both of their) problem, but simply because he gives off a very punch-able aura. Like if they were human, Choubee just knows he'd throw a rock at his face no questions asked.

Still, he's a little skeptical. ]

Sure, if it was actually a person who needed my help. I'm a generous guy.

[ he may be a thief, but he likes helping people out. Even if doing so means kissing slimy frogs. ]

The reward's just a bonus. Besides, knowing Mr. White, it's probably just a frog toy or something silly like that.

As a memory of what we've been through? That's nice. [ Obvious sarcasm aside, he opts for a better question: ] And what happens if we don't get a kiss? Does the story ever talk about that?

Not that I know of. That wouldn't make for a very good fairy tale, would it?

[ he won't claim to be an expert, though. Maybe there's one out there where the prince screws up and gets stuck that way forever. Lupin shakes his head. ]

But I assume we'll just turn back on our own sooner or later. These sorts of transformations are rarely permanent.
