Have I ever told you that Fenrich sounds kind of like a huge asshole? [He worries? But also, give him time to think about bats. He's even flapping his arms again to help focus.]

I know what my comrades are like. [He should maybe not sounds so satisfied when he says this, but here he is.]

And yet you're still friends with him. [There's a slight grin, but his focus is on bats.

Bats...bats...

...and yet, suddenly, there's a large dragon in his place instead. This maybe wasn't his plan.]

Of course I am, he's been with me-

[It's very strange to see his dragon form like this, instead of while he's being a dragon. He always knew he was large but seeing it like this gives him a different perspective.

He swims closer to the pier.]

You won't be able to speak like that.

[The dock beneath him seems to creak due to the sudden increase in size, but all Percy can do is roar in annoyance. He hates not being able to speak!!! There's a pointed Look though as though he's waiting for Val's instructions.

He misses being a fish. This was, perhaps, a mistake.]

If you want out of that, you can either think about being humanoid, or attack something.

[Either start screaming or believe in being a human.]

You don't actually have to hit anything.

[But the moment dragon Percy looks like he's going to scream, Val is going under water. He knows his own power very well.]

[Thinking about being humanoid might have worked, but Percy's a little too fussed about shapeshifting again to really focus on that. However, Val says the word "attack" and Percy can get behind that.

The dragon's mouth opens and Val disappears under the water as he roars and he screams, aiming himself in the direction of a few nearby trees instead.]

[Normally after that much energy expenditure, Val would be back to his human body. Does it work the same way when it's Percy dealing with his powers?]

[It takes a few minutes, but yeah, Percy roars enough that he just kind of flops back into being a human and lands on the ground. There's an annoyed noise as he sits up and looks back to the ocean.]

You can come out now.

[He pops back out of the water and makes his way over to the docks.]

How was that for you?

[While Val always thinks it's fun, he's also had that ability for centuries.]

I want to swap back. [No, he's just being a huge baby. Leave him to lay melodramatically on his back on the dock.] I used to think I wanted cool shapeshifting powers like Frank's but I think I changed my mind.

[He looks as amused as ever.]

Percy, you haven't even had them for a day. They're a demon's powers. It's natural you wouldn't get a complete understanding of it immediately.

My dragon form took me 80 levels relearn.

You seem to be handling mine just fine. [Just saying. He's going to glance at Val again and frown still.]

I don't know what that means, but I'm not sure I'll have your powers for that long to learn.

These seem more inherent. What I mean is, it took me a long time to grasp my power.

The only thing inherent to my powers is this- when things die around me, I temporarily gain power. The more opponents I have, the stronger I become.

I keep forgetting you're technically a vampire. That makes sense. Absorb the energy of your prey, you get stronger. [He shouldn't really forget Val's a vampire given he just turned into a bunch of bats not too long ago, but he's never seen him actually drink blood or the like. The thought makes his teeth itch though and he's choosing to ignore it.]

I guess you're right though. Mine have kind of always been there even if I didn't learn how to use them right away.

[Isn't he always dressed like a proper vampire ought to be? Look at him- well not now, not when he's in the ocean and oddly not wet.] You turned into bats. I turn into bats around you.

It's not uncommon for humans to swim either.

[He rolls his eyes.] Maybe it's more I think of you just as Val instead of what you actually are. And not all humans can swim.

[Wait, that's actually really sweet.]

... I appreciate it, Percy.

[He doesn't quite say the same thing, but Percy is one of the handful of people he uses a name for. He thinks it's pretty clear he thinks highly of him.]

[He ducks his head a little, slightly embarrassed about what's been said but otherwise not denying it.]

Don't mention it. [He looks at the water again instead.] How long do you think this exchange is going to last anyway?

Hmm... How long did the color drain last? Something like five days?

[It's less than that, but how is he supposed to know?]

That affected you a little more than it affected me. [Just pointing that out.] Three to five days seems to be normal for these things but if we're stuck longer than that I'm gonna need your help figuring out how to not turn into a dragon without warning.

It was difficult to care about much like that. Time was one of those things that didn't matter.

Just stay outdoors if you're worried about it. What were you thinking about when you turned into that form?

I think I prefer you actually caring about stuff than not. [Just a thought.] I'm not sure I want to sleep outside, but if I somehow break my own house that's going to be what happens anyway.

[What was he thinking about...?] I think I was just thinking about how I didn't want to be a bunch of scattered, separate bats. A collective of bats isn't a dragon, dude.

That makes two of us. You could sleep outdoors, it's not as though the cold would bother you much.

I'm aware. The bats are simply transitional between my normal state and my personal skills.

Maybe the cold wouldn't bother me but that still doesn't sound that comfortable. Then again, Mrs. O'Leary sleeps outside all the time. [...] There's nothing about your powers that would weird out my dog, is there?
