[January Catch-All]
WHO: Minato and queeeests
WHERE: Everywhere!
WHEN: January
WHAT: Quests, probably other things, there's an open prompt for demon-hunting in here
[Minato's definitely hanging around the edge of the woods, and if he sees someone heading that way--]
Are you...heading out there to try to fight the demons?
[A small frown!]
... You shouldn't go alone.
[Or you can just come harass him for demon-hunting, he's here for it.]
[Hit me up via PM or
kalisona for a customized prompt!]

[ He turns around quickly, as if something's caught his attention, then looks back to Minato while awkwardly rubbing at his head. ]
-- sorry, I thought I heard someone calling me? I guess that's just in my head, though? Man, this feels a little weird. This kinda isn't how I imagined magic would be like.
[ A small nod to himself, then a tilt of the head as he sorts something out mentally. ]
Oh, but. I should tell you how to take care of yourself until this wears off. Want me to write it down for you or something? Or do you think you could remember it?

[SHOULD'VE WARNED HIM BETTER, MINATO.]
Because of the Personas... they probably are a little distracting when you aren't used to them.
[The whispers that they tend to offer up for Jion to hear are usually Tarot based at that--murmurs of Minato's major arcana, how he has affinities with the Fool, Death, and the World--
It's nonsensical in a lot of ways, probably.]
But... if you could write it down, that'd be great. I'd rather not mess anything up at this point.
no subject
[ Even as he says it, his gaze briefly flits off to the side, trying in vain to look at whoever's calling him a fool (?). Yeah, this is really weird. ]
Um, right. Writing stuff down, though. Okay, give me a sec.
[ He rummages through his bag, then wanders over to a tree stump to use it as a surface to write on. ]
I'll write the details here, but the main thing is that I should probably give you a quick check-up every evening, if you're okay with it. Nothing huge, but just making sure you're not, um. Developing any new organs. Because I'm worried they might stick around after the power swap runs out, and it might get messy if the extra bits are still there while you don't have my healing, you know? [ A pause as he frowns to himself. ] ... sorry, that's kind of more of a hassle for you than I thought this would be.

So he nods, because rolling with things is a trademark skill of his, and he doesn't really know what else to do at this point anyway. Freaking out about it will just make Jion feel worse anyway.]
Yeah... okay. It'll be okay, I think--we can make this work. I'm fine with check-ups. It's not like I'll mind seeing you more anyway, so that's a good thing to me.
[Look on the bright side! The positives!]
Besides, I don't think it'll last very long.
no subject
Don't know if I've ever had a patient so okay with getting frequent checkups. Army guys can get so grumpy about seeming weak, and sometimes it cuts into their free time, so I'm really used to guys getting really sullen about coming in.
[ A low laugh before he returns to writing. ]
But yeah, you're writing. It shouldn't be too bad, hopefully, since it won't last that long ... Oh! I gotta ask, can your magic do anything cool? Like, other than these personalities? Can you shoot fire or anything?
[ He might be sounding just a little hopeful about that last bit. Please say yes. ]
no subject
Um...
Well...
[WELL...]
I can. [Oh.] But... the way of summoning my Personas to use abilities like that is a little... [A LITTLE...]
no subject
Um, it's okay, don't worry about it if it's anything really complicated! [ He laughs awkwardly as he goes back to adding more to his note, making sure he's not forgetting anything super important. ] I mean, I don't know a lot about magic, so I probably shouldn't mess with anything complicated, anyway.
[ So he says, but he's obviously a little disappointed. Just a little. ]
no subject
[Well.
He can't in good conscience really say that it's complicated...]
... It's not. It's just weird. If you feel okay with it, then you can do it.
[He reaches under his coat, and tugs out his Evoker, showing it to Jion solemnly.]
... You have to use this. Like... this. [Yeah, he just lifts that Evoker up to his own temple without flinching.]
no subject
-- woah, woah, stop!
[ And then he remembers the context of the action and lets go, though he still looks fretful. ]
I mean ... that doesn't have any bullets, right? It's just a magic thing? [ Pause. ] Also, you're Japanese, right? Aren't guns illegal over there?
no subject
... Sorry. I know it's alarming.
[A slow breath in, and:]
Yeah, guns are illegal in Japan--but this isn't a real gun. You're right--it doesn't have bullets. It's... it's kind of a long story.
no subject
[ He backs off a small step after that, hands loose at his sides to show he won't interfere again. ]
So, it's a magic gun, then. And you have to shoot yourself in the head? It doesn't hurt you, does it? It's not like you get hurt and get better, right?
no subject
It doesn't hurt. There aren't any bullets, magic or otherwise. It's... meant to mimic that feeling.
[The feeling of being about to die.]
That's what summons the Personas. I know it sounds kind of... [well.] ...bad.
no subject
[ Jion looks concerned, even as he carefully takes the Evoker. Despite knowing it's not a real gun, he ends up treating it like it is one, mostly out of habit; he turns it over, looks for a safety, tries to check if there's a round chambered. Of course, it's totally different from anything he's used to, and that huge difference is what helps him sort of come to terms with it. ]
... well, I have to admit it's kind of alarming to see. [ A deep exhale. ] But I guess it'd be kind of hypocritical of me to be super concerned about it, huh. Since there's some pretty weird-looking stuff going on with me, too.
no subject
[PLEASANT AND CHEERFUL.
Still, though... Minato just nods, trying to offer Jion a small but reassuring smile.]
Don't worry. I'm fine. And... you're right that we have a lot going on, all of us here--but don't worry. You don't have to feel bad. Honestly, I appreciate your concern.
[He still really hasn't processed just how crazy Jion's situation is either.]
I'm sorry if the Evoker thing is hard for you... I know you wanted to be able to do magic.
no subject
[ Jion quickly shakes his head, flapping a hand emphatically, before looking back down at the Evoker. Even with this not-gun, he maintains strict trigger discipline, handling it carefully. ]
I guess ... it kind of makes sense, the way you put it. The fear of death would give you a huge adrenaline rush, so it'd sort of make sense if that's necessary for magic. Yeah.
[ He gives a firm nod, seeming a touch more determined. ]
If you don't mind, I still want to try it. Um, and not just because I'm curious about magic. I mean, I am, but ... there's a lot I haven't experienced, in general, and I think it'd be good for me to try and understand the things other people have been through. So, um. Is there anything I should keep in mind or be careful about?
no subject
So, peacefully:]
I don't mind at all. You don't have to worry--the Personas won't hurt anyone if you don't want them to. They're...well, they're me. Another aspect of me, you could say.
So long as you have a clear idea of what you want to do, they'll do that. Though they all have different skills, of course...
[HMMM...]
What sort of magic would you like to try the most?
