september quests and [hozier voice] CHURCH
WHO: Zelda and you
WHERE: Various
WHEN: September
WHAT: Quests, closed prompts, open prompts
WARNINGS: Fantasy violence? There are a lot of dead fairies here.
[ ooc: if you want to do a quest with zelda feel free to send a pm! im open to all of them, even day ruining. ]
Church - During the day
[ with her posting up about spiritual guidance, zelda knows the church in flavo needs some touch-ups. when the sun is high (and when she isn't out doing a quest) zelda tends to the building interior. she sweeps the floors, wipes the dusty surfaces with a cloth, adds some restored colored flowers to the front and back in sad looking vases, and makes it feel more homely.
and if you deign to stop by, for whatever reason there may be, she may catch sight of you and wave a greeting. or you could approach her all the same.
also if you decide to be a cool guy and stand on top of the church (because apparently that's a thing now, thank you sasuke) expect her to yell at you from below to get off the holy building. ]
Church - During the evening
[ and when night falls, zelda spends most of her time inside. she writes in her journal, sews a sad looking monochrome cloak for the upcoming season, and prays at the front on her knees.
a few candles are all that light the dark interior, and they should shine through the church windows to show a sign of life at the late night. ]

okuyasu
this month she's going down with him. in retrospect she supposes this must be what having a crisis of faith is. still she doesn't find herself regretting the decision enough to not meet him at the arranged time and then descend down with him. and no she doesn't bring her sewing project on his warning about the water, but luckily the sheikah slate is water-proof so she has that going for her.
together they spend all day and night, until only the glow of the slate prevents things from being completely pitch dark in the well. ]
Ok, a question. Would you rather have to fight the fairies or gather up the honey?
[ time passes so slow and she's already spent about ten hours praying more or less. ]
no subject
That said, it's still boring in the well. Boring and wet and cold, and he's been watching Zelda mess with her slate thing in silence for a while now when she speaks up.]
What is this, a party game? We gonna play twenty questions now? [Hmmm.......] I'm better at fighting than getting stuff, so I'll go with that one.
no subject
[ her sheikah slate doesn't come with mobile games, it's very sad and boring, also what's a mobile game, etc. ]
You know, fairies are actually not so uncommon in my homeland. But they're gentle and kind creatures. Not like these ones, they're just terrible beasts. [ huff. ] Ok your turn. Ask a question.

quest 24 - dirk
she arranges to meet with dirk after the sun has already disappeared from the sky for a few hours. it's not the "safest" time when other threats could be at large, but for the quest it'll make things slightly smoother. she does bring a jar of the ointment she received from the flower quests just in case though. and when they come together and find the hives... well she's afraid, but she can't let that stop her. ]
Do you think you're ready? [ she whispers, really hoping he is at least. ]
no subject
hopefully.
he meets with zelda as prepared as he can be when having to face potentially magical mutated bees. his life sure is an interesting one where that is a legit thing to prep for. at least finding the hives isn't an issue, eerily silent though it is at night. ]
As ready as I'll ever be, I guess. Here's hoping they stay asleep or at the very least they won't be throwing magic bullshit at us.
[ he'll take giant bees with big-ass stingers over dumb magic shenanigans, to be honest. ]
How do you wanna do this? I can flashstep over and ambush them. Maybe draw them away if they wake up.

quest 26 - riku
for this go around she's with riku. bow in hand, she leads the way to where the fairies typically hide. ]
Have you ever had to fight monsters before, Riku? These are tricky ones. They like to toy with their foes.
no subject
At least Zelda's done this before and knows the way. Colour him a bit surprised. She looks like a girl that can hold her own, but he can't help but wonder about her safety a little.]
Yeah, unfortunately. You already fought these ones, right? Got any advice?

Day
The fish there aren't his preferred type and sketchy at best he's made his promises and fish blood doesn't count. Maybe it's because his thoughts are drifting towards a nun that his legs lead him toward the church.
When the woman waves, he moves closer. ]
Is this your church?
no subject
[ after all, sacred grounds like these should be kept tidy and not in a state of shambles. ]
...You're not a Hylian by any chance, are you?
[ it's the pointed ears. she has the very same, but she doesn't want to rush to conclusions. ]

Maybe.]
Oh dear lady, being here at late night....that must mean you have something to confess. I, Aqua, will be more than happy to accept your sins and pleas.
[Absolutely ignoring everything else she's doing.]

Oh, ah, do you have any business here tonight? I can leave if you need the church grounds.

quest 26 - sierra
when they meet just outside the trees that poorly guard the forest entry, the only difference from when they met to today is zelda's bow slung over her back. ]
From experience, I've found that you can only encounter the dangerous creatures mad mention of in the quests by actively seeking them out. They can sense our intent.
no subject
[ sierra eyes the bow on zelda’s back, taking note. a long range fighter, is she? that works, since sierra likes to get personal with her victims. ]
I assume you’ve fought them before. Tell me what I need to know.

quest 24 - sidon
in any case, she wants to introduce him to the quests. she hasn't had a chance to seek out the honey of the mutated bees, and so asks sidon to meet her long before the sun rises again. they should be sleeping now. ]
Have you ever had to approach a bee hive before? ...Do Zoras eat honey?
[ riveting questions, but honestly she's curious now. ]
Well I thought I had tagged both this and Nanjo gdit
Not often! We don't really go out of their way for it, but merchants have come to sell their wears at the gates before. I suppose it is more a delicacy than something to eat regularly? I don't recall the last time I've had some...I take it Hyruleans regularly enjoy it?
[Maybe this was also why she wanted to do this 'quest' with him.]
quest 26 - nanjo
(this is absolutely masochism at this point, she's convinced.)
she leads the way into the woods, knowing the path where the fairies tend to swarm around by now, and smiles to him as they go on their way. ]
Forgive me for assumptions, but I presume you know how to fight, yes?
no subject
I do, yes. [He looks down at his sheathed sword.] On could easily assume that the same statement is valid for you as well. So far I've discovered that magic spells seem to be reflected by them...we learned that the hard way a little while ago. What is your area of expertise?
forest adventure with valvatorez
well no, not to grandmother's house, but rather to explore and see how far in they can get. a date arranged about ten days after their first meeting is made to prepare everything ahead of time. she stuffs a backpack of a few canned meals, including a couple tins of sardines for valvatorez, and two canteens of water. a blanket is all she needs for roughing it outside, and another pouch has the flint for fire starting and a small blade for any cutting. of course her bow is in hand for emergencies, and the sheikah slate in her belt holster as always. it could prove useful.
she's glad to get out into the wild. she loves the thrill of it, always has, but not everyone here is so eager to rough it. it'll be... an adventure. one that maybe they could both use. she knows she needs it especially.
at the first crack of dawn in the sky she's at the edge of the forest opening with everything set. all there is to do is wait for val... she thinks he's ok to go out in daylight. he would tell her otherwise, right? this probably could have used more planning, but ah well. nothing sought is nothing gained. ]
no subject
The daylight doesn't seem to do a thing to him, so at least Zelda doesn't have to worry about her companion turning into dust.
Once he sees her, surprise is clear on his face.] Am I late? [He's sure he got the time right. A meeting time is almost like a promise in itself.]

Day
He does prowl the network looking for further information about their situation, but the answers as of yet have been unsatisfying at best. Most of the helpful things came on the first day, and beyond that it's all repeats of what he's already been told.
Rather than sit around and let his brain rot while waiting for answers that may never come, he takes to memorizing the town layout, using both the map and his own two feet, taking mental notes of anything of viable interest that may be of use later on.
Which is, of course, how he came across the church in Flavo. There was a slight hesitation to entering, gazing over the familiar shape of the building. Unmistakably a church, yet it bore no outward signs of what denomination it might have once been for.
In the end it felt as if his feet made the decision for him to enter, a faint, almost nostalgic expression appearing as he took in the equally familiar pews and wood panel floors. For as wrecked as most things were in town, this place had been pretty well taken care of.
An alien location in who the hell knows where and yet here was something straight out of his incredibly broken and fucked up childhood. He didn't know whether to laugh or cry at that.
His cross had been left back in his room when he'd been so unceremoniously dropped in the well in the middle of sleep, yet his fingers danced at his collarbone as if it were still present, eyes shifting to the podium at the front. Memories of an old graying man with a warm smile flickered through his vision; a past he kept locked inside even now long after the wars were finally over.
Thinking he was alone, he spoke quietly.]
I'm probably the last guy you wanna hear from, big man, but if you're actually listenin' to me this time it'd be nice to know if I get to go home any time soon...
no subject
however this puts her in the wrong place at the wrong time. she enters the church without hesitance and stops when she realizes someone is at the front. her instinct is to leave, because she shouldn't disturb someone in prayer. however she takes a few steps backwards before turning a little too quick and just narrowly missing hitting up to the wall. ]
Oh!
[ she gasps and steps away from the wall, glad she didn't make a fool of herself. but, well, now it's obvious someone else is here and just caught his words. ]

church; evening
Tonight is a pleasant evening for a walk, and when he notices the light shining through the windows he decides to ignore that discomfort and approach, quietly opening the door and stepping inside to find out who's here at this hour. ]
no subject
(she doesn't know know, but she has faith, and that's all she needs to know.) ]
--In times of turmoil, I ask for your blessings. Courage, to be brave through adversity. Power, to be formidable as the rock of the earth. And... wisdom. Wisdom to see past judgments. With compassion, understanding, and forgiveness.
[ she takes a pause to breathe and then goes on- ]
And please, grant these blessings to others who are in need. For the path of light blinds the traveler as it illuminates the dark.
[ for if others do not wish to pray, she shall pray in their stead. ]
