Pushed his sister in a well. Mother said, while drawing water, "My, it's hard to raise a daughter." | |
Welcome to Awash's tenth event log, and the intro log for this month, everyone! All new characters have found themselves waking in the well in the middle of the Town. Hopefully they can get a hand out! For more information, please go here! |

It takes her a moment to nod, only because she's finally coming to terms with what she needs to say. ]
Oh, uh, I'm wearing a skirt? So - I'm gonna need your jacket.
[ If it sounds like she's regretting opening her mouth, it's because it's Entirely True. ] I'll give it back..! I'm gonna come back. 'Cause my stuff is still here.
no subject
So he will take off his jacket, and hold it out to her.]
It should be fine for now. Here.
no subject
Not to sound rude or anything... [ She gives him a wary glance before turning her back to him, wrapping the jacket around her waist. ]
...But you don't have anything weird in this thing, right?? Like a camera or something?
no subject
[Why would he need a camera in his jacket? It seems very inefficient.]
But since you asked, I am required to inform you that my systems record everything I see and hear, so that in the event that I am damaged beyond repair, my memory can be uploaded to another Connor model to serve as my replacement.
[Nothing weird or creepy about any of that.]
no subject
Okay, please, can you stop with.. whatever that is. [ She was only asking because his jacket is tricked out in lights. She wouldn't put it past someone to add a camera if it was handmade. This, however, is too extra.. even for her.
Lottie adds this a bit more quietly when she turns to face him. ]
We're not at a convention, okay? This isn't the time to goof off and get in character 'cause you're in costume.
no subject
[He tilts his head, in a display of confusion. What does she mean, costume? He's wearing a standard android uniform, only slightly tweaked to match the dress code of a detective.]
I'm sorry, I don't understand what you mean.
[Surely she knows he's an android, right? The LED and words on his jacket are hard to misconstrue...]
no subject
Yeah, the costume you've been wearing! Unless you actually wear this everyday or something...
[ Which would be sad. She refrains from saying so, but her expression details her thoughts perfectly. ]
Normal people don't parade around with LEDs on their head or their clothes.. Unless the one on your head is a body mod. [ A vague gesture as she grips the wall for support in this whiplash of a conversation. A conversation that probably shouldn't even be that important in the grand scheme of escaping the well, but is. ] So.. You're obviously cosplaying.
no subject
"Normal people" is exactly the rub, though. He doesn't think she's trying to express some kind of anti-android sentiment here (though he wouldn't be surprised), so... does she really just not know?]
My LED indicator is required by the Android Act, and my outfit is a standard CyberLife uniform. [If a little gussied up because he's a Special android.] I'm not human, I'm an android.
no subject
Well, at least she can gather this guy works for Cyberlife, that being the only thing he said that made even remote sense. And that she totally dissed his work uniform.. Sorry though Connor, Lottie's only ever been exposed to the robots at Disneyland.
Maybe a talking, script-reading robo-head on the internet.. so she is extremely skeptical. ] Okay, you know what, we're putting this? On hold. [ But not skeptical enough to refuse his help though. She lifts up a leg, trying to shake the water out of her shoe so his hands won't get too wet supporting her. ]
If that's still you're story when we're both out, then fine.. You're a robot.
no subject
But he can guess it's a robot cop.
But they're putting this conversation on hold, so he goes ahead and readies his hands for her to step in.] Whenever you're ready.
no subject
The climbing, itself, doesn't take long - indentations within the wall made from previous people trapped make the trip up much quicker. ]
Okay, don't get offended or anything when I ask this, [ Her head pops over the top of the well into view, after a minute or so of climbing over and onto dry land. ] but how much do you weigh?
no subject
167.8 pounds. I'm made to be lightweight.
[In comparison to older models and other robots, anyway. And most actual human men his size.]
no subject
...If he is a robot. ]
Then don't break this!
[ Lottie tosses down one end of some rope - long enough to reach those trapped at the bottom of the well. She doesn't bother to mention how she found it, or that some kindly people already secured the other end to something sturdy nearby for this very purpose. ]
Tie my bag to the end of that, then hurry up out of there, okay?
no subject
Secure the bag to the rope.]
Alright!
[He does so quickly, testing it to make sure it's going to hold. Then he turns back to the rope.
>Climb the rope.
Up he comes!]
no subject
Or two. She's severely underestimated how much strength it'd take to be useful in this situation. ] Thanks. [ It's said only after she's wiped some stray sweat off her face.
She then experimentally tugs on the rope, visibly pleased to see he did what she asked. While, simultaneously, hating the effort she's using right now to pull it. ]
I got some towels in my bag if you want to dry off? You know, if being wet bothers you.
no subject
Without offering, he reaches over to help her pull the bag up. He's not much stronger than the average human man, but it's still strong enough to lug a suitcase.]
I can't feel it, but thank you for your concern. I'll dry in time; use the towels on yourself.
[Though... he is wondering what all she has packed.]
no subject
Well.. The offer's there if you decide you want to use it later, or something.
[ The suitcase is only dripping by the time they haul it over and onto the ground. She kneels down, zipping it open to lay it flat. She has to dig through various articles of clothing and shoes, even a stray laptop, to finally dig out a hot pink towel.
And a pair of fluffy sandals. ]
Oh, yeah, I'll give you back your jacket in a sec.
no subject
So he quietly watches her rummage in her suitcase. Ah right, his jacket. He'll have to wait here for it.]
Take your time.
[He's curious about this place and ready to start looking for clues, but for now he can wait.]
no subject
She unzips her soggy boots to slip into the new ones she grabbed, the old pair set onto the towel before she stands. Even if he tells her to take her time, it's still apparent she's trying to do this quickly without it being too obvious. She doesn't want this exchange to turn too awkward (the potential is high with Lottie in the mix), after all. ]
Here. [ She unwraps his jacket off her waist to pass it to him. There's a clear wince at the sight of the wrinkles of the fabric in her hand. ] The LEDs won't stop working even if it's messed up like this, right?
no subject
[He looks it over, just in case, but all seems well. The jacket is pretty waterproof too, so he can walk in the rain or enter water without messing it up.]
It's as good as can be expected after a dunk in a well. [He slides it back on, even though it's wet. He really can't feel it, after all, and he's not supposed to have the jacket off.]
no subject
Oh, really? [ Better than everything else that's happened in the last fifteen minutes, at least. ] I don't know how those things work exactly, so.. That's good. [ Lottie, at least, has the decency to hide the cringe she feels at her own eloquent choice of words from sight.
She crosses her arms, letting her nails press against her skin. ]
..And that's the same with the one on your head, right?
no subject
[He taps it, but it's blue right now.]
Right now it's functioning as expected, as am I.
[It would take a lot more water than that to damage him.]
no subject
Functioning. Well, I sure hope it does. [ Body mod or not, she guesses, money still went into it one way or another. ] Listen, remember how I said we can have that talk later? Just, uh, forget it. It's cool.
You can go help.. other people, or whatever you wanna do really.
no subject
[He's not sure why she doesn't want to have that talk now, but maybe he already cleared it all up? Or maybe she's just uncomfortable around androids. It's not like it's the first time he's run into those kinds of attitudes.
It's... unhelpful. But it's not like there's much he can do about it.]
Will you be alright?
no subject
[ By ''figure all that junk out'', she means an ugly cry. Now? Mascara completely untouched, but ready to be destroyed the moment he leaves and she's by herself. No use in prolonging the inevitable, as they say.
At his question, Lottie actually looks off to the side, in deep thought. ]
... Probably?? [ Her response does not inspire confidence. But she has at least, like, two bags of Hot Cheetos - if that isn't surviving she doesn't know what is. ] I mean, as alright as anyone would be in this situation.. Y'know?
