Event Ten.

Little Willie, mean as hell, Pushed his sister in a well. Mother said, while drawing water, "My, it's hard to raise a daughter."

t's pretty dark and miserable down in the well. The cavernous area feels much larger than a well should be, bodies milling about in the darkness and knee deep, frigid water. So you're here -- and you're not alone, and the only way out appears to be the thin circle of sunlight from above, the opening of the well. (And elsewhere, in the Town, everyone's waking up to gifts of various usefulness, but hopefully they remember to check the well today even so!) What now? Welcome to Awash's tenth event log, and the intro log for this month, everyone! All new characters have found themselves waking in the well in the middle of the Town. Is that what you are? Half what? Even werewolves have demon ears and they were descended from demons and humans.

[hydrokinetics]

Not a werewolf, dude. [Also how does that biology work? He thinks it's better not to ask.] Half human, half god. We're called half-bloods, or demigods.

[promissum]

[ He takes a moment to stare Percy down. Well. If he said it, he must mean it it. Val doesn't have a doubting bone in his body so instead of questioning any of that he nods.

Then narrows his eyes. ]

You're not the reason I woke up in a well, are you?

[hydrokinetics]

Whoa. I'm pretty sure I'm not the reason anybody woke up anywhere, but I woke up in the well when I first got here, too. Call it a right of passage or whatever. You wake up wet and miserable, you figure out how to get yourself out, profit.

[promissum]

[And, like a fool, Val believes him. With that out of the way he nods.]

It's not the worst place I've ever been. At least the water was fresh instead of toxic.

How long have you been here?

[hydrokinetics]

Three or four months? I've lost track, but it's been a while. The group before me showed up a few months before that, too. As far as I know this place was deserted before that, and the water wasn't that fresh.

[promissum]

Hmm... This well keeps bringing people to the town? [It doesn't seem like that strange of a well, but he has no points in detect magic.]

What was wrong with the water?

[hydrokinetics]

Every couple of months. Nobody's sure why yet. [He shrugs though.] You'd have to ask some of the others, but from what I got it was just that it wasn't made for drinking when everybody first got here. The ocean's still pretty colorless, too.

[promissum]

What matters is that it's fine now and how to return everything else to their proper colors. [He waves his hand out to the colorless trees. It's disconcerting.]

If the ocean is colorless, how are the things in it? I'll have to get raw sardines somehow.

[hydrokinetics]

Most things are colorless still unless you're lucky. You can find some fish with their taste and color though. Not sure about sardines, but there're better-tasting fish out there.

[promissum]

It's not about the taste! Those humble oily fish are nutrient rich! They contain roughly one-quarter of the recommended daily allowance of niacin, and 150% of the recommended daily allowance of vitamin B12! They even contain marine omega-3 fatty acids, keeping hearts healthy and might even boost brain function!

Those tiny fish are great for health reasons!

[hydrokinetics]

[...Val what in the hell.]

We're in a colorless town with a lack of options and no way out and you're worried about fish oils? [He's trying not to laugh but also what the hell.]

[promissum]

Proper nutrients are essential!

[Why does he sound like a health teacher? Nobody cares about sardines even half as much as Val.]

[hydrokinetics]

So what are you gonna do if you can't get them here? [He's just curious.]

[promissum]

I'll make do with whatever fish are here.

[Because like hell he's going back on a promise.]

[hydrokinetics]

You might want to see what they look and taste like first before committing to that, dude.

[promissum]

I'm not drinking your blood. Fish are more efficient than most other animals.

[hydrokinetics]

[. . .]

Hold on. Are you eating the fish or drinking their blood? Or both. I mean there's no judgment here but that's two different things.

[promissum]

I drink the blood and eat the fish. I need blood but I also need the nutrients that are stored in the rest of the fish's body.

[hydrokinetics]

So...you're a health-conscious vampire. [That's new.] Is that a normal thing where you're from?

[promissum]

No. None of the other vampires I know have vowed against drinking human blood. Human blood contains everything we need on its own.

[hydrokinetics]

[The plot thickens...] So why vow against human blood? You wouldn't be the first vampire to show up here.

[promissum]

[He kind of gives Percy a look like "Why should anybody else be bound by my personal choices?"]

I haven't completed a promise. I won't be able to complete it here.

[hydrokinetics]

But how do you know? [Sorry he's going to ask a bunch of questions suddenly.]

[promissum]

I doubt the angel is here.

[Val. Just say her name.]
