t's pretty dark and miserable down in the well. The cavernous area feels much larger than a well should be, bodies milling about in the darkness and knee deep, frigid water. So you're here -- and you're not alone, and the only way out appears to be the thin circle of sunlight from above, the opening of the well. (And elsewhere, in the Town, everyone's waking up to gifts of various usefulness, but hopefully they remember to check the well today even so!) What now? Welcome to Awash's tenth event log, and the intro log for this month, everyone! All new characters have found themselves waking in the well in the middle of the Town. The church, maybe. But if you're feeling up for a lecture and being grounded, there's always the forest.

[ giorno looks at him thoughtfully. ] You're a handful, aren't you.

[ not a question, just a ... general statement, as if that was his name all along: first name A Handful, last name Where Is Guren's House. ]

( a statement which doesn't even warrant much of a response, really. yes, yes he is a handful. yuu's aware of that. he's pretty satisfied with his place in life. )

I've heard the forest is kind of alive-ish?

( well. )

It's temperamental. Has its own secrets. [ giorno thinks he looks like he can handle himself just fine, with that brash behaviour and all. so the problem, with this kid, must be whatever or whoever he surrounds himself with. interesting.

that being said, these are all generalizations he makes on the spot, and when he suggests going into the forest, giorno almost envies his recklessness. there's something refreshing about that. so he slips his hands into his pockets. ] Why not. But we can't stay long, it's really not the kind of place to have a play date in.

( has it's own secrets sounds unsafe. but different. and it's not like he's got anything better to do at this particular point in time than to explore a forest. . it being smart isn't much of a deterrent, either. it's fine: any damage done to him will heal up in moments anyway. )

I'm Yuuichirou. ( a beat, before he corrects himself: ) Yuuichirou Hyakuya. Most people stick with "Yuu".

( hands open and out, he gestures in the direction of the forest. )

Have you spent a lot of time out there yet?

Yuuichirou. Alright.

[ giorno just shrugs. ]

I've made a few trips here and there. Some of the quests they have require a visit to the forest. Never really stayed long enough to see if I can convince myself that it's not as creepy as it is.

The creatures in the forest prefer to be left alone, I think.

[culpa]

Maybe we'll have to stay long enough to see how creepy it is. Or how not creepy.

( shrugging!! and taking a few longer strides off towards it, hands folded behind his head. )

What kind of quests? Are there any right now? What do we get for quests?

[tropism]

Every month, someone posts a bunch of quests in the forums. You get different rewards every time you and a partner, or you and a group of people, complete it to their satisfaction. They can be very silly or very serious.

If nothing else, it's a way to pass the time. There's really not much else to do here. [ a tilt of the head. ] I feel like an old person. I garden, and I have a farm I'm trying to build. I know a guy who decided to run a cafe. Nothing exciting.

[culpa]

Oooh. ( sounds boring, where are all the monsters he can hit.

going from the apocalypse to this is going to be hard, he can tell that already. everything used to be complicated but the enemies were obvious. and then they got less obvious. and everything to a little less complicated but also more complicated and what the heck is this place. )

I don't know anything about any of that stuff, I just know how to fight things.

[tropism]

There are plenty of monsters to fight in the forest, not to worry. [ a slight laugh. ] I'm sure if we waited long enough we'll stumble onto one.

What did you do back in your world? [ he doesn't look old enough to get a regular job. ]

[culpa]

( not old enough for a regular job, sure, but-- )

I was in the army. Fought off a lot of monsters and bloodsuckers.

[tropism]

Really? That's interesting. [ a tilt of the head. ] You know, I never understood why vampires are so fearsome. The idea of fearing someone who is constantly in a position of need is ridiculous to me, but I guess not everybody has the ability to resist them.

You're doing pretty good work, Yuu.

( wow way to completely underestimate the amount of damage that could cause. his expression--tightens for a moment, taking a deep breath in. )

I was in an orphanage, when I was eight. The apocalypse happened; everything was burning, there were Four Horsemen attacking everyone, and the vampires came out from their underground city. They took me and the rest of the kids, who were all younger than me except for one, to their city. They fed us scraps and bled us until we were woozy then bled us again, for four years. And then? One of them killed all the other orphans, my family, right in front of me.

They're strong and fast, overly powerful. Any normal human doesn't stand a chance against them if they're not working with you.

I'm so sorry. [ he had thoughtlessly commented on something that seemed innocuous enough, but what yuu had said confirms what giorno thought, either way. whatever woke them up made them desperate enough to form a system of government to make their appetites efficient. he sees no way out of it unless you kill the vampires one by one, or you turn into something like them, or more powerful than the monsters that they are and kill them, and on that point he agrees - any measure of power needed to kill and protect is something giorno appreciates.

that being said, he thinks on crowley and how he'd described that blood has many different tastes, and how he's more than powerful enough to kill everyone. does this boy know about vampires in this town? giorno decides he won't get involved in that; he'll let him find out in his own time and make his own decisions with it.

and if this kid knows other people in this town then that'll be their problem as well. what a conundrum. best to keep that to himself for now. ] But that means you're in the middle of a war before you got here. I doubt there's a way of returning at this point - you'll have to make do with living with people you know and don't know.

[culpa]

( the apology's unnecessary, as was this guy's assumption of how needy vampires are. but yuu gets over it fast enough anyway, moves easy from being ticked off at him from refocusing on what's happening now. the past happened, he's never going to get over it. but being pissed and sad about it isn't going to get yuu anywhere here, especially not now. )

That's okay. I can deal with it. This place isn't that weird from what I've seen of it. And Guren's still here so I'm not completely on my own anyway.

( which. is good for everyone else: yuu can't fuck himself over and drag everyone else down into it if he's still being babysat. thanks guren. )

Have you been here a while?

We don't really have calendars here, so it's hard to keep track of time. But I started keeping a journal, and if my calculations aren't off, I'm pretty sure I've been here .... a little over a month, maybe two months.

[ so, not very long. ] That being said, I also came here by myself. Some people are like you, who come here and meet other people from your own world. Others just follow after a time ... there's no real logic to it, and it's difficult to say whether being here attracts others to just turn up in the well.

[culpa]

Oh.

( man, that sucks. being stuck here alone, being stuck here at all kind of sucks but at least yuu has someone he knows. which means guren was stuck here by himself for a while too, right? even if mika was also here for a time. )

I'm sorry. But you have friends now, right? So you're not totally alone or anything.

[tropism]

[ giorno waves off his apology, as if to tell him not to worry about it. ]

Well, most people in town are good to each other. It makes it easier to live here when someone's always ready to help you just because you're all in the same boat.

That being said, I'd be worried if any of my friends were here. So I don't mind if I'm alone. [ and yes he's met somebody from his world too but he's not counting him because who cares about jotaro and jotaro was a different mess entirely and he wouldn't mind it if the well took back that large boy entirely. ]
