t's pretty dark and miserable down in the well. The cavernous area feels much larger than a well should be, bodies milling about in the darkness and knee deep, frigid water. So you're here -- and you're not alone, and the only way out appears to be the thin circle of sunlight from above, the opening of the well. (And elsewhere, in the Town, everyone's waking up to gifts of various usefulness, but hopefully they remember to check the well today even so!) What now? Welcome to Awash's tenth event log, and the intro log for this month, everyone! All new characters have found themselves waking in the well in the middle of the Town. [Hunk laughs and digs in his pocket until he finds it... it's quite lacy. No judgement, OK, he just took what he found. He offers it back after glancing over his shoulder again.]

[ Ari can guess why he's asking, but the distance from the bottom of this well to the top is nothing compared to the vertigo of traversing a thin rickety wooden bridge across a chasm, way up in the highlands. If he can stomach that, Ari thinks he must not be too afraid of heights. Not any more than the usual person, anyway.

Belatedly, the other boy's words sink in. ]

[He scratches his head. He feels like he's travelled the length and breadth of Japan in his endless battle against villains, but he's never heard of a place like that. Must be pretty remote...?]

[ A nod, and she only pauses briefly before she slips her hand into his. Yeah, hand-holding in a creepy town? Totally fine.

[ She won't tattle! Even if she could, she wouldn't, so isn't that fine?

Besides, it means Kisa can be helpful, so she has no qualms with nodding. If they're both going to live here, it's definitely got to be a little cleaner. ]

Hmm... I don't know if it's convenient as much as unsettling. It's like whoever dragged us here had everything set up in advance.

[And if a villain is behind all this, one who doesn't show themselves or make their intentions immediately clear is far more dangerous. He doesn't like it.]

Uh. Like, lots? [HE'LL ADMIT IT but he lifts up his hands, shaking his head.]

But I won't ask. It'd be like if you walked up to a person and start asking them how their nervous system works, it's just kinda weird to do.

[...He actually can't remember but that sounds like a thing he'd do. Yeah, Hunk can picture it.]

It helps if you've got a friendly face--is there anyone you know around here?

[The only thing this gets is a small nod. Whether Sasuke agrees or disagrees, he makes no indication in expression.]

Tell me about the defense force. I've noticed a lot of children here, so I'm sure you have a good number participating. [It doesn't really sound like he's ragging Guren for it, though? Ninja children in school are still ninja children in school.] Has it helped?

No! [He sounds so cheerful about being clueless, too.] I didn't know I had a laptop here! Where do I find it, young man?

[ The boy's anxiety slowly begins to ease once the man offers to stay, and he nods, confirming that he doesn't mind. ]

> "I'm Ari. Nice to meet you."

[ He tucks his letter back into his vest pocket before accepting Toshinori's handshake, his other arm still occupied with his laptop. This time, Ari manages something much closer to a smile. ]

> "I'm sorry if I scared you earlier."

[ninjanature]

[It's often he forgets there's completely normal people even in his world who have never had a single tickle of ninja ability in their lives. Being amazed about something which seems so terribly simple to him is... humbling maybe.

He hasn't been this revered since Boruto called him cool and demanded to be his student.]

You don't have to do that.

[Momo steps away, but Sasuke's hand lingers on Momo's elbow and forearm until he's sure the guy isn't going to collapse, especially not in thanks. Sasuke's arm doesn't drop so much as pull a disappearing act beneath the cloak.]

We should look around. Where are you from?

[ He probably doesn't want to know the truth then. Fortunately, that topic of discussion is as far from Ari's mind as possible. Valvatorez can hope all he likes. ]

[ Inevitably, Ari wonders if he got dumped at the bottom of the well too. ]

Nice to meet you too, young Ari. [Toshinori's handshake is surprisingly firm for someone so feeble-looking. That done, he sits back down, a slight smile playing on his face.]

No, it's fine. Maybe I scared you first?

[Did he see that incident with young Todoroki... he certainly hopes not.]

( with a curious look to sasuke's eye when he gets close, leaning in as best as he can without. getting too much into his space. yuu knows about different eyes, his own shift and change when his seraph takes over, or when his demon does. but definitely not like that. )

( don't stare at him like this, kisa. he stares back for a moment, before lifting shoulders in a shrug. )

I know it sounds weird, but it worked for me.

( the uniform matches guren's; the only difference is the stripes. while guren's are red, yuu's own are green. the question isn't that weird though, and he nods his head pretty fast. )

Yeah. We work together back home. He's my family.

"Thorough" as far as the limits of what everyone knows about this place, yeah.

[Which means he feels like he still doesn't really know anything at all, but at least everyone is in the same boat.]

How have you and the students been doing? I heard there aren't any villains in this place, but... [There are other, more fantastical threats, which is enough to have kept him worrying.]
