t's pretty dark and miserable down in the well. The cavernous area feels much larger than a well should be, bodies milling about in the darkness and knee deep, frigid water. So you're here -- and you're not alone, and the only way out appears to be the thin circle of sunlight from above, the opening of the well. (And elsewhere, in the Town, everyone's waking up to gifts of various usefulness, but hopefully they remember to check the well today even so!) What now? Welcome to Awash's tenth event log, and the intro log for this month, everyone! All new characters have found themselves waking in the well in the middle of the Town. This is me right here, and the cafe. I just run it outta my kitchen but if you ever want food or to just uh... h-hang out...

I don't remember any of that. [ He says bluntly, lips pressed into a firm line. ] So that means you must come from a place after me... but there's no way time is moving with us not there if both of us remember someone being near us before coming here.

[ Well, food is good. Friendship is good. There does not seem to be a downside to this. ]

Yeah, but I couldn't find anything helpful for this in there. Did find the laptop, but I'll poke at that later. ... probably gonna have to look for something more to wear than just this, too.

[He did say he was just woken up. Boxers and a tank top aren't the warmest things to wear, especially after being soaking wet.]

Mnn... I guess not, no. Going to Earth for the first time was pretty awesome, though! It was totally new for me to see the horizon stretching on forever and blue sky instead of the inner workings of the colony.

[A slight nervousness creeps in to his demeanor, expression turning honestly worried.]

Yeah. There's a place to stay there for you. Not gonna be much in it, but a roof over your head and a crappy mattress is better than nothing at all.

... I guess I kind of understand that. In a way, getting out of my hometown for the first time ever was a little similar.

Oh, no worries, I'm used to roughing it. I've been camping on and off for a while now. A crappy mattress is only a tiny more luxurious than what I've gotten used to.

[ They did stop into inns every so often, many times because she was having a hard time, but they also did more camping out than anything. She got used to it. She also didn't really have the emotional capacity to care about it, but she wouldn't have complained even if she had. ]

[ sierra knows not to drop her guard, but the fact that he isn’t feral makes her a little more at ease. the vampires without the influence of the moon rune went crazy with their lust for blood—this one has some control over himself, for better or worse. ]

I would say we must have been cursed around the same time. Something over eight hundred years… it’s been a while.

In all seriousness, you're right about that. We've got a good bunch out here. Almost too good. Whoever's kidnapping us knows how to pick friendly, helpful people - so they're doing a bad job of it, I guess.

"You'd look out for me even though you just met me?" All right, he does recognize he's interested in joining the fighting force and looking out for everyone, but Keigo likes being protected.

[Although he is gradually getting more used to it, 'foreign' things like handshakes and someone's family name being second still give him pause as he tries to remember the correct formalities.
So although it takes him a beat, he takes the offered hand with a warm smile.]

[He takes his hand back, and embarrassedly rubs at the back of his neck.]

My apologies. My pronounciation was not correct, wasn't it. I promise, I'll do better after a little practice.

[Resheathing his spear, he continues,]

I appreciate that I can trust your discretion in such matters. Although I feel I have nothing to hide, I also feel the need to be duly cautious in regards to the town. Ah- but I do not wish to burden you overly with details. You have only just arrived, and should be given the chance to orient yourself.

[ That definitely explains it. It's not the most futuristic time she's heard from people here, but it's definitely up there. It at least makes it very easy to explain why she's asking, considering her own answer. ]

Oh, just because your clothes are a lot more modern than ones I've seen. Where I cam from, it was 1912.

[ She says it so easily and matter-of-fact that Lottie might not really get the full time she needs to process that. Even before Elizabeth came here, the concept of other times, other worlds... It wasn't new. It was something easy and familiar for her, since alternate realities were a concept she could grasp in a surprisingly physical way. So. Without much of a pause, she answers Lottie's first question. ]

Unfortunately, yes. It's not the worst, since it's better than having to actually make it ourselves, but... I don't know. It looks old-fashioned even to me.

the good news is we DON'T have to handle that!! no need to feed on a tree frog or anything
but actually idk if tree frogs have color back yet, so if you really did get desperate enough to eat one those probably STILL taste of ash

[ The explanation she had been envisioning was a little simpler than that, so almost immediately, it goes a little over her head. Her eyes widen in surprise at one unfamiliar term after the other, but it also comes with a smile. It's the sort of overwhelmed excitement that made her quite passionate about learning, since it wasn't as if there was much else to do in her tower. Once she found a subject that was wholly unfamiliar to her, it tended to promise at least a week's worth of interest before she reached a dead end, or on occassion, continued along with it.

But she won't pester him about this, she thinks. Not now, anyways. He's just arrived, so bothering him with her curiosity about something that unrelated would be insensitive! ]

Wow— That's... I must have read it in passing, but I don't think we knew that much about it. [ She laughs, realizing it's probably silly to include herself in that, but whatever. ] So when you have someone's, um, DNA, can you tell what they look like?

[ Ari is hopeful too! A lot more hopeful than when he first arrived and realized he was far from home with no way to return. Now, he doesn't feel quite so lost.

Ari nods again. ]

[ He asks out of a genuine desire to be useful, rather than any doubt of Toshinori's ability to sort of his own bedroom matters himself.

Little do they realize there will be ample chance to learn more about each other in the coming weeks. The town works in mysterious ways. ]

Other than that... I'd recommend not eating anything that doesn't have color. The taste is awful. Oh, and a lot of these buildings aren't in great shape, so be careful not to step on any nails or things like that.

Well, I can't say for certain... but I've been keeping track of when people appear, and it's happened regularly roughly every other month. We haven't got a calendar, mind you, so that's about as precisely as I can measure it.

[ he won't elaborate on Sebastian not finding Ciel in the well; judging by the man's expression, he already knows that means Ciel probably isn't here with him, and there's not much Lupin can say that will comfort him on that matter. ]

Gah, no it doesn't! It's not like it's our fault the town is colorless, is it? And restoring color to everything here is going to take such a long time, there's no way the humans here could even live long enough to do all that.
