[Oh. Okay. Whatever illusion was going on there suddenly shatters because Dave says words and John tries not to laugh. He settles on a shrug as he looks at the fairies at their feet.]

Yeah. I'm not really the time guy, so. ["My timing is bad" is the implication here. He licks his lips in thought and chooses not to focus on that just yet.] They won't revive, will they?

Don't know, don't care. [ dave drops his hands though, carefully giving john a little breathing room. but. ] Hey. I like you.

[ there's a little laugh. ]

You don't have to like... [ say anything. ] Just. I do. It took me a while to notice because I've always liked you so damn much it took liking other people as much as I liked you back when we first met to go oh hey that whole liking John thing got bit by a radioactive spider at some point and now it's leading a double life saving little old ladies from muggers in the night. And it's chill, you know? Like. I'm just kind of happy I can say it. So don't...stress. I'm the time guy.

[ john can have eternity if he wants, dave means. so anyway - ]

Want to get out of our killzone? We can go jam at home or something.

[He listens to Dave ramble again before he just blinks in surprise. He knows this already. He knows Dave likes him, knows that Dave's liked him for a while and while he's still trying to reason his feelings somehow hearing it is still new and surprising information every time.]

Did you just call your crush on me Spiderman? [But he rolls his eyes and steps around the fairies, gesturing for John to follow.] Let's go. Lunch? I'm kind of hungry. [Plus it'll give him something to do with his hands that isn't grabbing Dave's shoulders and kissing him again!!!

They have to talk about this but like. Priorities.]

Don't mock the truth, Egbert, that's my thing. [ but he nods and starts walking. ] By the way, you have like. Standing permission if you ever want to kiss me again.

[ he says it like a joke though, easy and teasing. ]

[windeity]

Whatever. [And so they walk. He doesn't reply immediately, but eventually he nods.] Wouldn't that also be kind of a dick move?

[parodeity]

How do you figure that one? [ dave sounds genuinely confused. ]

[windeity]

Kissing somebody without really knowing what you're doing. That just seems kind of mean. [Ah. So the thing is, he wants to, but he's not sure in what capacity this means. Overall he doesn't want to hurt Dave's feelings, apparently.]

[parodeity]

You were learning more than fine - [ oh. ] You mean like, about me.

[ ...dave shrugs. ]

I'd rather have kissed you than not even if we're - "just" best friends seems weak, but you know what I mean. Like. I like kissing you. It's okay with me if that's all it is. There isn't anyone else I want to kiss anyway.

Don't take this the wrong way, dude, but I think I still need time. Not a lot, I hope, but I want to just think about things. [He doesn't clarify.] But it sort of felt like something we probably should have done a while ago.

[And that's the part he wonders about.]

John, dude. Stop a second. [ he'll just. put his hands on john's shoulders and drag him around to look him in the eyes. ] It's okay. Okay? Like. I'm okay, you're okay, we're okay. This isn't life threatenin' and I ain't gonna flip out if you need time or if you need eternity or whatever. I told you when I said it the first time: you don't have to do anything and I'm not asking you for anything. It's not like being best friends with you is second best or something. It's first best. Yeah, I like you more than that, but it ain't gonna hurt me if you're never down because you're my best friend, and that matters more to me. So don't stress. I want you to relax, okay? We're good.

[windeity]

[There's a disgruntled noise when Dave grabs him, but he's not fighting at all and lets his friend turn him around to look at him.]

I am relaxed. [Mostly.] But you're my best friend and it's like. [Hm.] I'd do anything for you. You know that, don't you? I would do anything for you and I do not want to ever do anything that will maybe hurt you even accidentally, and that includes whatever this is without really thinking about it. So. I don't know where I'm at with this. But I think it's something I want to keep thinking about instead of deciding right away.

But kissing you wasn't terrible. So whatever that means. [Shrug.]

It means I'm an amazing kisser. [ said in a "duh" tone.

...thanks. Jokes aside. I'm not gonna argue with you about it so just - thanks. For thinking about it. I promise I'll drop it until you want to pick it up if ever. [ ... ] Still okay with the kissing though.

No, that means you're cheating since I do not have any other comparison. [There's a small grin.] ...but yeah. I'm okay with it, too, I guess, but I don't know about everything else yet. It changes some stuff. Not in a bad way! But in a way that I want to think about to make sure. That's all.

[parodeity]

I can always go kiss Keith or someone to prove I'm a good kisser. [ he's not gonna. ] And seriously? Don't sweat it. Let's go home and make lunch and fuck around on the piano or something.

[windeity]

Don't kiss Keith! [He sounds scandalized by the idea? How rude!! He pouts for a moment before he continues walking to head out of the woods and toward their house.] The rest of that sounds good to me though.

[parodeity]

[ john gets an amused look. ] You're the only person I really wanna kiss, so.

[windeity]

[...it's maybe a selfish request, but.] Keep it that way for now, okay?

[parodeity]

[ an easy immediate response: ] Sure. [ he doesn't ask for anything in return. ]

[windeity]

[Dave...] Okay. [They're walking, but he pulls on Dave's elbow for a moment to stop him.] ...you'd tell me if you stopped liking me like that, right?

[parodeity]

Yes. [ that's easy to promise. ] It's, like, not likely to happen? But I would tell you.

[windeity]

[Okay. He doesn't reply but he nods before he moves to press a quick kiss to Dave's mouth again. He's pulling back and walking again though.] I don't want the honesty thing to stop.

[parodeity]

[ oh my god. dave wasn't expecting that one and he's a little flushed again but honestly he wasn't lying about decidedly not minding kissing suddenly being a part of their friendship.

I know, dummy. I meant for both of us. And that is why I'm telling you everything about what I think about this. [And why he keeps kissing him.]

[ dave 1000% doesn't mind the kissing, ok. but the corner of his mouth lifts up a hair and he just reaches out to take one of john's hands and drag him home. ]
