QUEST 26 - KEI

[It wasn't that hard to find people who were just as interested (read as: bored) and wanted to pursue the new line of quests. While John didn't know Kei that well, it wasn't going to stop him from making new friends and trying out new things.

And fighting fairies seemed just as good as anything. Better than fighting each other.

Anyway, he finds himself at the edge of the woods waiting for the guy, hovering midair without really caring. This probably won't be too bad, really. They're just fairies. Spotting Kei though he grins and waves.]

So. Fairies are supposed to be pretty small, right? This should be easier than the harpies and spider-ladies.

QUEST 26 - DAVE

[...you know. It's hard to fight fairies in the house, but John's waiting by the door for Dave. The woods weren't a huge bother to him, but he also wasn't entirely chill with charging ahead after what happened with siren island. Not to mention he's maybe a little distracted? Alas.

Still, he seems to be thinking hard about something...]

What do you think they look like? Are we seriously going to fight Tinker Bell?

[ that's a dumb thing to be distracted by. dave is not surprised, rolling his eyes and slinging an arm over john's shoulder. ] I kind of feel like they'll look mutant like most things here?

[windeity]

[He grins though because it's a quest with a friend and that's all that matters here.] So what you're saying is don't feel bad about actually fighting them. It'll be good for us. I have been practicing.

[Practicing...what.] Ready to go?

What have you been practicing? [ no that's a good question let's ask it...? dave does go to leave the house, though, removing his arm and ruffling john's hair as he does so ]

Nevertheless he ducks his head and he follows after him.]

The Windy Thing. [He seems proud?] I've been trying some new stuff with it to get better at using it.

[ he definitely still has that crush! fuck his life! except dave has probably seemed maybe more relaxed since telling john. he figures john knowing was step one to recovery. ]

What new stuff are we talking about here...?

Nothing bad. It is just something I thought about when I was fighting Shouto and about what you said before. Using the wind to dodge.

[That was definitely a while ago but alright. And he's happy Dave's relaxed because he's definitely still actively thinking about it, so whatever.]

I'm both flattered and worried. [ but john gets one of dave's rarer smiles. rare because it basically is the variety of smile only john gets, fond and soft and amused all at once. ] But sure, I'm ready for you to show off for me.

[windeity]

[It's fine. He sees the smile and his eyes light up even as they head for the woods. He hasn't quite caught on that they're reserved just for him, but he knows Dave and he knows Dave rarely looks soft like that.

It comes from knowing a little too much about your best friend, maybe.

Still, they head for the woods and he seems prepared.]

Shut up. [But it sounds equally pleased.] How far in do you think we'll have to go this time?

[ john maybe hasn't caught on to a lot of things that are just for him. dave shrugs as he shifts bus gaze away from john and to the trees. ]

Not far, maybe. You've noticed the forest kinda seems to spit us in the direction of what we're looking for when it comes to wuests, yeah?

[windeity]

[He's caught on to enough which is about all we can ask for him. On the other hand, he nods slowly.]

I thought I was imagining it, but you're right. The forest really does have a mind of its own. It's just further confirmation, I think, that we are supposed to be doing these quests.

I'm still mad we apparently can't find that magic hen. Even if I wouldn't use it.

QUEST 26 - ICHIMATSU

[Okay so maybe this was an absolute coincidence. Yes, it's not hard to find people who are willing to go on the fairy quest with him, but at the same time after a while John wasn't exactly looking. He's always ready to do things, but he doesn't always actively seek adventure. (Especially not currently so soon after siren island.)

As it is, it's why he actually is a little surprised to find Ichimatsu somewhere in the town while he's on his way elsewhere and he pauses to give the guy a once-over. They've only spoken the once and John's impression of him wasn't too terrible, so it's not a bad idea to be friendly.]

You look like the kind of person looking for something to do. [It doesn't matter if that's true or not, that's as good of an opening as Ichi's going to get. Hello.]

[Ichimatsu somehow managed to miss the entirety of siren island, possibly by way of his cat distracting him and keeping him indoors as a good therapy animal does when Shit Is Going Down. He's out wandering for no real reason other than to get out of the house when John finds him, and turns toward him when he's given the once-over, taking a moment to recognize who he's looking at.]

[Oh, it's the blue floating kid. Okay. So many of these damn kids float.]

[He frowns, scrunching his face a bit like he'd eaten something sour, and shifts his weight to his other foot, shaking his head.]

Not particularly, actually. [But please, drag him away, he's getting used to it thanks Ochako.]

[Smart of him, really. Please don't actually listen to John about anything, Ichi, this is just Bad all around. Nevertheless John doesn't seem at all perturbed by the response. In fact, he probably sees it as a challenge and grins a little wider.]

Okay, well, I look like the kind of person looking for something to do and I cannot do it by myself and you're the only person around. Is that better? [He hums to himself.] You've see the quest board on the forum, haven't you?

[nyahilistic]

[What even are teenagers. He hunches his shoulders up toward his ears, leering, and then scoffs, rolling his eyes.]

At least you're straightforward. Which one?

Taking out fairies in the woods. I have to go back out there and show them who's boss. It is a matter of pride at this point.

[Squints.]

Fairies. The hell do you need a lazy asshole like me for, then?

A distraction? [Duh.] Also, for it to count as a quest it needs to be more than just me, so you're it. What do you say?

...again, at least you're straightforward. I, uh. Did I get your name when I met you, 'cause I definitely forgot if I did. [He didn't. He didn't get Dave's name, either, so at least it's not just John.]

It's John. [He doesn't seem to care that his name was forgotten, so like. Okay.] Don't worry about it too much, but it doesn't hurt to get to know people and do this kind of stuff. What are your other options here?

John, [He repeats the name, albeit with minor difficulty-- it wasn't as bad as the v in Dave, and it was nowhere near as bad as the collection of syllables in "Dextera", but seriously, why did he keep meeting people with non-Japanese names, he is a simple idiot. He quirks his mouth crooked and hunches his shoulders, looking at the ground somewhere past John.]

It doesn't hurt to be a hermit, either, but I guess let's go beat up some fairies.
