A. Bees to see - OPEN
- [Guren feels as though he's been going a little easy on the quests lately. It's time to fix that. He's antsy, he's got an empty jar in one hand and his other on his sword, and he holds it up to anyone who might pass him by.]
Have you bothered getting any honey yet? You can come with me.
[And with that simple line, they're off! Unless your character has any resistance, of course, but assuming they don't, Guren leads them right into the forest.]
I wouldn't be surprised if these things were huge and mutated, so let's be prepared for that.
B. Wildcard - OPEN
- [If you want to hit Guren up for a different quest, even if he's a red, feel free! Try to ruin his day? Just see what he's up to? This is my generic space to say anyone can tag me even if I didn't plot things with them, so feel free, or hit me up at

But now, he knows it's Dextera, even if he's straining to open his eyes but they only manage halfway, and most of what he sees is dirt. He forces out a breath.]
D...
[But that's all he can manage right this second. He sure got stung a lot.]
no subject
it’s got to be better than inhaling dirt, in any case. ]
…
[ now dextera can see just how much he was stung. ]
no subject
He's breathing a little better, but it's still pretty shallow.]
no subject
he doesn’t know if guren can even feel the pain, but if it were to paralyze his heart— ]
…
[ he frowns harder, and finally pulls the stinger that was in his hand free of its firm place. before it has the chance to drip or bleed, however, dextera covers it with his own palm and tries to purify it. he’s on autopilot, while guren is hardly reacting. like he’s back in the tower.
it probably hurts like everything he does with this power, but if he can get some of the venom out, that would be worth it. ]
no subject
[It is painful. And either Dextera does minimally help the venom, or Guren is just struggling through this because of the pain, but his muscles twitch through his whole body, and the noise he makes says he's in pain but trying.
Also, he needs what's left in that stinger.
It's ridiculous, what he's doing right now, but slowly, and with incredible effort, he starts to pull himself to sit up, grasping at Dextera for support.]
no subject
…
[ he doesn’t like hurting guren. the purification stops as soon as he thinks it’s safe, and it’s clear by his own body language that using it even to benefit is like nails on a chalkboard. it feels wrong in his bones, when it causes such pain to the person he loves.
with his hands occupied, he can’t even ask if guren is okay—but maybe everything else is saying it for him. ]
no subject
'm fine.
[So, he manages that as soon as he can, trying to take a deep breath. He is definitely not fine, but. After another moment:] Help me up.
no subject
when dextera is ill, it’s best to just wait it out. he shakes his head. ]
…
[ after a beat, he moves the stingers out of guren’s reach, too. ]
no subject
I need those.
no subject
…
[ in compromise, dextera shows guren that he’s putting everything into his pockets, like a little packrat. ]
Safe.
no subject
Dextera is here, after all. Even if they're in the forest, he can watch out for them for a short time. He doesn't have to keep struggling to make sure the venom and all its sources are kept safe.
Which means!! It's safe to pass out, so he does just that, his weight slumping back, and hopefully into Dextera rather than onto the ground. Sorry, Dex.]
no subject
[ it shouldn’t be a surprise that guren would just pass out like that, but dextera gasps softly anyway, catching guren as best as he can—holding his weight in his arms, brow furrowed in concern. is he still breathing? his heart, beating? dextera moves one hand over his chest, and it’s faint, but he’s sure that there’s still life pulsing.
it’s a bad idea to stay in this forest like this, but dextera still doesn’t want to move him. ]
…
[ he frowns to himself, adjusting his hold so he can bury his face into guren’s hair. always, always… he doesn’t want to keep finding guren like this. ]
no subject
[It's a good couple hours of really solid rest. Guren mutters in his sleep, but it's only once or twice and it's hard to tell what he's saying, probably because of the paralysis. But gradually, those sting wounds begin to heal over completely, the burns fix themselves, and Guren is left spotless (but dirty) by the time he wakes up.
He blinks tiredly, testing his fingers with a few curls before he lifts his hand and places it to Dextera's cheek. He can move now, perfectly fine. Hi.]
How long has it been?
no subject
showing it is another matter entirely, however. he doesn’t want guren to see that he was worried, but he also doesn’t want guren to think he’s content or comfortable or happy with all these dangerous things. ]
…
[ despite it all, his expression softens with relief when guren touches his cheek and speaks clear as day. dextera holds up two fingers, an estimate based on the way the light has moved through the trees. ]
no subject
[Two hours, he has to assume, which is too long for him to have been sitting around. He needed to heal, yes, but he hasn't been getting enough. The bees in the jar for reward(s) haven't been enough for venom, either.
He pushes off the ground to stand up, extending his hand for Dextera, as well.]
What are you doing out here? [He's the one who's going to ask this. Him. Yes.]
no subject
it must be something for his drugs. maybe a vaccine. dextera will figure it out. ]
You weren’t home.
no subject
...It's dangerous to go searching for me in the forest alone. [Still, there's no bite to it, and he looks softly at Dextera, his hand lingering before he drops it away.] But... thanks.
no subject
I can… handle myself. [ for guren, he can. he must. ] Let’s go. Then tell me what happened.
[ it’s obvious, but dextera wants to know it anyway. ]
no subject
[Instead of holding out just his hand, this time, he reaches into his pocket to hold out a little pouch. Put them in here, please.]
I'm collecting the venom. I don't want to lose any of it, or it'll increase how many times I have to go back.
no subject
[ guren is fine now. he is. clearly, he’s up and moving and talking, apparently unharmed by the two hours or longer he spent paralyzed on the forest floor. it never gets less scary, though, when this town has proven itself capable of slowing his healing.
dextera retrieves the stingers from his pocket—or starts to, and then he stops before he pulls them out. ]
Are you going to keep hurting yourself?
no subject
[Now he's staring at that frozen hand, wondering if Dextera plans on denying him this, really, or if he's just holding them hostage. He's annoyed by it, either way, but he's not about to get snippy at Dex.]
I'm going to keep collecting venom. The more I do it, the easier it gets, for a number of reasons. I'll be fine.
no subject
denying him now would prolong this. ]
…I don’t like it.
[ he just has to make his opinion known, even if he drops the stingers and the vial into guren’s little bag after that. ]
no subject
...I'm sorry. [Slipping the pouch back into his jacket, his eyes search to meet Dextera's, sad and understanding.]
It's tough caring for a guy like me, right? I know. But I can't stop.
[He turns, brushing his hand down Dextera's arm as he urges him to walk with him.]
Let's go.
no subject
…
[ he just wants to know why guren still won’t take dextera with him. is it the lingering fear of what happened with the bogeyman?
dextera hooks his pinky around guren’s anyway, willing to accept a walk as an offering of peace. ]
Will you stop for today?
no subject
Yeah. [He curls his pinky in this little link, looking to Dextera as they walk.] I'll stop for today.
[It doesn't take long to get out of the forest, and it's even clearer how messy Guren is. He's got dirt all over his face, his clothes are all disheveled, his hair is falling in his face when before he'd had it slicked back... A disaster. But he's all healed.]
