Event Nine.

Thus, on Life’s gloomy sea, Heareth the marinere Voices sweet, from far and near, Ever singing in his ear, “Here is rest and peace for thee!”

t's a dark night, and the sounds of feet in the darkness are further dampened and hidden by even more magic, as they are lured away by the soft sounds of dreams that are too good to be true, leaving the Town much, much emptier than when it began. On one side, an island, and a ticking clock to a gruesome death. On the other, the slow realization that those bonds everyone has been forging might mean much, much more than they first thought. [Knock him out properly, Oku-nee!!

Because the hit does stop him for a moment. Just a moment. (It could be a combination of Izuku and the hit) But once again he's listening to the siren song and taking another step forward.

At least he's walking forward much slower.]

[Okuni would like to think that saying Izuku's name is having an affect on Shouto, since she gears up for anotHER ATTEMPT

She absolutely cannot let Shouto get eaten by sirens -- she cares about him, despite what she might say out loud. She also hasn't forgotten her time in the forest, as much as she's used to hearing words of censure back home -- she doesn't want to prove those voices right by failing Shouto in his hour of need.]

Izuku is waiting for you, so wake up already!!

[speaking of izuku, PLEASE FORGIVE HER

as Okuni locks her arms around Shouto's waist and attempts to boDILY LIFT HIM IN THE AIR AND SUPLEX HIM INTO THE SURF,

[While being reminded of Izuku should probably work, it absolutely doesn't. The siren's call is a powerful thing and Shouto's already lost to it once before.

HOWEVER, he's so out of it that he doesn't notice Okuni's arms around him or that he's being lifted UNTIL HE'S SUPLEXED.

Once he hits the water, the spell seems to be broken. He's spluttering on the ocean water and trying to wrench himself upright.]

What the hell!

[osuni]

[Honestly, Okuni is just supremely glad that her SUPLEX worked on Shouto, even if they're now both drenched in water. SHE'S GLAD!!! ISN'T HE GLAD!!!

He looks startled and upset??? it's fine, Okuni is sure he'll be happy soon.......]

It worked! You can thank me later!

["THANK".... Okuni throws a hand out towards the slowly approaching sirens who look annoyed that they were interrupted tbh]

But first, let's get rid of them!

[glaciers]

[It's the sirens again? He fell under the sirens' spell a second time? He grits his teeth as he gets distracted from answering her. It's fine, she said he can thank her later.]

I hate these things.

My quirk doesn't work well here. [Which means he's stuck doing close combat: something he isn't that well versed in.]

[osuni]

[Okuni throws her arms in the air as if to say 'OF COURSE' though this also helps clear up a few of her questions about the kidnappees. questions like why didn't these guys just murder all the sirens and meet us half-way through our rescue mission?

THIS RIGHT HERE ANSWERS HER QUESTION. She gathers up her robes and starts striding towards land,]

We're going back to the shore! I'll take care of any sirens that come too close, so keep your head on your shoulders this time!

[metaphorically and literally!!]

[glaciers]

[Well it seems like he's answered a question that he didn't realize she was asking. At least something is cleared up somehow.]

Aren't there boats or something? How did you guys get here?

[Still, he follows.]

[osuni]

Remember the quest that involved boats? We grabbed all the ones people made and arrived here on them.

[She gestures with her chin to the boats a little distance away on their right, bobbing in the shallows. Some boats look nicely made, others look like they're being held together with spit and prayers.]

We didn't actually see this island until a few days after we realized you were all missing. If we had, then we could have come sooner...

[She's sorry they hadn't, but she can't very well say that out loud!! She does peek over at Shouto again though, concerned.]

[glaciers]

I remember. Izuku went on one of those.

[Well... if they managed to hold up, that's good enough. Even if they crash later on, at least they got here in the first place.

In response, Shouto gives a shrug. This is just how it is.]

It was magic, probably. Don't worry about it too much. Let's just leave.

[osuni]

[Okuni is still concerned, but she ends up giving him a brisk nod and starts leading the way back. The knowledge that Shouto is having difficulties using his power doesn’t sit well with her at all – it might be a side effect of this island or the sirens themselves, but ultimately it means she has to keep a closer eye on him.

Once they're close enough to the craft Okuni arrived on, she rifles through a few things on the prow of the ship, then holds out a travel-sized bottle of water to Shouto.]

Here. We have plenty of extra water, so just take this one for yourself.

[glaciers]

[Okuni is not the only one who's unhappy about the present circumstances. Shouto glares down at his left hand like he's willing it to catch fire.

Though he does get distracted by the bottle of water, taking it and immediately drinking half of it. It's been way too long without fresh water.]

[Okuni still has no idea that Shouto can use fire, so all she sees is Shouto glaring at his hand like it’s done him WRONG. She's observant enough to put two and two together, so it must have something to do with his quirk.]

We have food too. [but...] Do you get sick at sea?

[glaciers]

[Okuni thinks he's only an icyboy...

And honestly Shouto has no idea? He's never really been on a boat. Even the one time they were supposed to be using the USJ, Shouto ended up in the mountains.]

I haven't been at sea like this before.

[osuni]

[SHE DID BEFORE WE GOT FURTHER IN OUR OTHER THREADS… immediately retcons my own brackets]

Ah. [HMMM] Then, you should eat after we get back. It would be embarrassing if you ended up feeling worse.

[she meant "bad" but embarrassing also works]

[glaciers]

[GOOD THING BRACKETS ARE EASILY RETCONNED]

[They'll get out of here soon and he can eat something.

Embarrassingly his stomach growls.]

[Despite the overall high amounts of stress from this entire situation, Okuni bursts into giggles at the sound. The laughter is truly inappropriate, but Okuni can’t help it... Maybe she’s also just glad Shouto is OKAY enough to make embarrassing stomach sounds.]

You can have a rice ball when we get back, unless you think Izu-chan will cook something for you.

[glaciers]

I'll take a rice ball. I think Izuku wants to rest after all of this.

[Shouto definitely just wants to collapse into bed.]

Alright! We're just about ready to go, so sit tight. It would be a pain to haul you out of the water if you accidentally fell in.
