Event Nine.

Thus, on Life’s gloomy sea,
Heareth the marinere
Voices sweet, from far and near,
Ever singing in his ear,
“Here is rest and peace for thee!”

t's a dark night, and the sounds of feet in the darkness are further dampened and hidden by even more magic, as they are lured away by the soft sounds of dreams that are too good to be true, leaving the Town much, much emptier than when it began.

On one side, an island, and a ticking clock to a gruesome death.

On the other, the slow realization that those bonds everyone has been forging might mean much, much more than they first thought.

Welcome to Awash's ninth event log, everyone! Further information on this event can be found here at the OOC post.

You are welcome to start your own posts or logs for this event as well. If there are any questions, please ask them here. Please be sure to very clearly mark where your characters are in your prompts, so people know which they can tag depending on which group they are in. Thank you!

I'm checking on everyone, don't worry.

[It's not a personal callout for Akechi, even if he's defensive like this. Still, Guren tilts his head slightly, considering that.]

Still, didn't you say you didn't like fighting? This could be a dangerous trip. It's likely that something took them by force. We found some blood by the harbor.

[ Personal call out or not, he's not about to be treated like anything less than an equal peer. He's had enough condescending adults looking down on his work just because he's a "child".

As for Guren's second point, though-- ]

I am well aware of that fact.

[ With a hand to his chin, he narrows his eyes and focuses on further elaboration, as Guren is certainly expecting. ]

Though it is true I prefer to avoid direct confrontation, I have been... keeping the real extent of my abilities a secret. This was mostly due to the nature of my job back home, but also out of consideration for the identities those who share similar skills as me. However, I believe there is more to gain from putting these powers to good use-- and it would seem the others aren't as keen on secrecy as I had originally thought.

[ A pause, and he looks up at Guren again, inquiring. ]

Kurusu-kun... has revealed himself to you, hasn't he?

[That's an interesting question, isn't it? Guren hesitates, because Akechi asking means he must know, but at the same time, it doesn't feel right acknowledging something that Akira told him in such secrecy. Still, if he does know, it should be fine to admit it vaguely.]

Yeah, he did.

[Another pause, and he tilts his head.] So, you're telling me you're the same?

[personal profile] doublecrowss 2018-08-14 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
[ Oh, they are definitely the same, in more ways than Akechi thinks even Akira knows. And maybe even more so than either of them realizes.

Still, there's no need for Guren to know that much, so he only nods in response. ]

I am.

[ At first, anyway.

Soon enough, he brings a hand to his face and, a flash of light later, he almost looks like a whole different person; his peasant clothes have been replaced by a princely suit in pristine white and gold accents, greatly contrasting with the long-nosed mask he now dons over his eyes. Robin Hood doesn't come out, though, because Akechi figures this will be enough to convince Guren, given his prior experience with Akira. ]

They call me Crow. I apologize for having kept this from you for so long.

[He'd be lying if he said those transformations weren't kind of cool. He just wishes he understood the sort of magic it must be...

Still, his lips quirk up at "Crow," and he rests his hands on his hips.]

You don't have to apologize for something like that. It's better to keep secrets close to your chest when you don't know who you can trust. [He understands.] Thanks for telling me now. I'll keep it to myself, if you want.

[Even if, he's certain others will see him fighting out there. It's fine.]

I guess that means I'll get a good shot of what you can do out there, if it comes to it.

[ It's okay, Guren, even they don't understand it very well. Just appreciate their coolness for what it is. ]

If it does come to it, then that also means there will be little reason to keep it to yourself.

[ He does appreciate the offer, though, really, by this point, far too many people already know about his other identity. ]

Regardless, I have made my peace with it. There might be risk in revealing myself, but there's even greater risk in not using my full abilities. For the sake of rescuing those in need, I have made my decision.

[ Well. For the sake of rescuing the two or three people he actually gives a damn about, anyway. ]

I'm glad to hear it.

[It means one more fighter, one more person they can all count on to have their backs. They're all family, after all. Guren's eyes turn back to the harbor, to the island in the distance.]

We'll leave soon. Whatever's going on on that island, we'll get everyone back together.

[personal profile] doublecrowss 2018-08-15 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Hah. One more fighter? Sure. But family? Akechi has never really fully believed that-- not when Guren himself hardly ever relied on anyone else when he really needed. It's hard to have faith in a leader that doesn't set up a good example.

Still, he offers a nod in acknowledgement of those words, and his gaze follows after Guren, focused on the island. There's no telling what awaits them out there, but he knows he can count on his own strength, his own plans. ]

I have gathered a small group of my own. [ A group of fellow Persona users, though he doesn't say as much out of respect for anyone possibly trying to still keep their identities a secret. ] The one remaining seat in our boat will be used for storing supplies-- bandages, a few daggers, fresh water and food. If everyone does turn up in the island, it's very likely they'll be malnourished.

[ Look at this boy!! He's not just prepared for a fight, he's actually thinking of the victims!! Wow!! ]

Good. I know a handful of people were packing similar supplies. I have some left aside here, too, just in case things are too hairy for them to eat on the ride back.

[Assuming they're alive... god, he's worried.]

I just want to check on the rest of everyone one more time before we head out.
doublecrowss: (pic#12352369)

[personal profile] doublecrowss 2018-08-20 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I understand.

[ He nods, honestly glad that others have had similar foresight to his, though maybe for the wrong reasons. More than anything, he would hate to be forced to share the supplies he had gathered only for the select few he actually gives a damn about. ]

Do you intend to follow a tactical plan similar to the defense force? I know some of the team leaders are currently missing, so I'm wondering if there are any interim leaders that we should report to.
swordfucker: (219)

[personal profile] swordfucker 2018-08-20 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
The defense force is just a way to encourage teamwork, and to have a group of people more equipped to take on things like this. That's exactly why I rotate the leaders.

Everyone is equally reliable. Without knowing what we're going into, there's no way to set up a proper plan, so we're going by boats. You'll form it as you get there.

[It's kind of that way in the apocalypse a lot! But also RP makes it difficult otherwise, so.] You can always find me if something goes wrong, too. But work with your raft team. We all know our priorities. See the situation, and plan a rescue if necessary. The safety and survival of the missing and the rescuers is the top priority.
