Guren. [ she swallows tight, and she reaches out- ] Aah!
[ and quickly pulls the arm back in a sharp hiss of pain, because she tried to take his hand with the injured arm. the injury that didn't begin to register in pain until now, as the shock of the moment wears off, and she feels the bite in full bloom. her free hand instinctively clutches over it, nerves tightening in his muscles. ]
I'm sorry, it got me.

[He stabs his sword into the ground as support as he crouches next to her, eyes flicking to her wound to take a closer look.]
There are a handful of healers who can help you with that, but I'll have to get you back to the rafts, first. Here, your other hand.
[Again, he holds his free hand out, this time asking for her uninjured arm.]

[ typical guren. he would have to be inhumanly fast with how swift the siren was. it was going to eat her and he stopped it, so she has no complaints to make. she inhales a breath through her nose, clenching herself for the pain of exposure, and then goes to take his hand again. hope he doesn't mind the blood. ]
no subject
They're going to keep singing while we try to go back. [He glances around them, making sure that there's not one on its way to strike now, forming a path ahead.]
But I'll go with you. Ready?
no subject
[ she lets go of his hand and takes a quick look around the area, spotting her driftwood-made spear on the ground. the tip is still covered in the siren's blood and she has to shake off some chunks of flesh, but it's still usable. she grabs it with the uninjured arm, seething as she does, gripping it tight in her hands. ]
I'll jab this into their throats if they dare to sing.
[ her sealing power has been weakened to nothing, and so she must rely on instinct. ]
no subject
If they dare to sing, you may not have the mind to do that.
[But he likes her spirit, and he hopes she can push through it. It would save him some energy. Still, with the weapon in her hand, he takes his step forward, staying close to her as they move.]
It's too bad I don't have a bow and arrows to lend you, princess. It would have been interesting to see how you're doing.

It'd be hard to keep a steady aim with my shoulder like this. I tried to get the jump on it, but it was stronger than I thought. Or maybe I didn't aim for the vitals right.
[ or maybe she's just no good at defending herself. ]

You've been stuck here for days, with what looks like a shitty supply of food and drinkable water. You're weakened. Your body can't keep up, even if your mind wants to.
All of us "rescuers" might be sick, but at least we're well fed and have the energy to fight.
no subject
[ there wasn't much else she could eat, and she's ready to never look at fish for a long time. but besides that, something else he says catches her ear. ]
What do you mean you're all sick? Did something happen back in the town?
no subject
The longer you've been gone, the more sick we've all felt. It's been different per person. I think it has to do with the bonds we've been creating that restore color.
no subject
You all realized something happened to us because of the sickness. [ it makes sense. a typical disappearance doesn't generate any sort of sign, but a kidnapping is different. ] Wait, does that mean there was no word about our situation from F?
[ she means FFFFFF but there's no energy to say that letter six times seriously. ]
no subject
[Before she asks, on that. He knows it's dangerous.]
Days went by, we all felt worse, and when we saw the island, we knew we'd have to go there, and planned for it. It didn't take long from that point.
no subject
I guess it's too much trouble for them to just say what's happened to us. They rather you run around the forest, as it's the most obvious place to think of.
[ immediately bitter and spiteful, yes. she's been having a lot of negative thoughts about the higher powers of this realm and this is somehow angering her more than the kidnapping itself all of a sudden. ]
no subject
[That's what Guren was thinking, at least. He has to stop that thought momentarily as he throws an explosion tag at another siren, setting it off before they get too close. The rafts are in sight, now, over the rocky beach.]
It's different from the rest, somehow. This doesn't encourage bonds as much as it warns against them.
lost this in my inbox RIP
[ give a girl a warning first before casually causing an explosion maybe? but no truthfully she's so upset right now, even her chiding is more an angry clip. ]
At this point I don't care for whatever their plans were! People were nearly eaten, we were brainwashed into obedience and these sirens are--
[ hang on. there's one coming up right now, and this time she sees it first. she takes a quick breath, mustering up whatever bit of her power remains from within and throws out her arm toward the siren. a ray of bright light shines from the back of her hand to her palm and a ray bursts out, hitting the beast and sending it flying back with a sharp burn in its chest. ]
There. [ the breath is released and she stumbles on her legs. she hasn't had access to her power at all, but anger turns out to be a great motivator for her. ]

Nice hit... Is that magic? [Though, maybe now isn't the best time to discuss. Sirens and commotion have him glancing to the rafts, and he continues trying to guide her there. They're so close, they've almost made it!]
Take it easy now, or you'll pass out.
no subject
[ even so she'll use his arm as leverage to get back to proper balance. 'take it easy' - as if she knows how. but she feels far more exhausted now, that single blast alone being all she could summon up. damn sirens.
thankfully they get to the boats from there without further interruption, and some others have gathered too already, though the evacuation further in-land still audibly continue on. ]
...I think I'll be fine from here. I suppose you plan to head back in?
[ as if she really needs to ask such a non-question. ]
no subject
[It's teasing, light, and he's completely fine with her being snappy. He understands it. He knows. But if he takes it easier on her, it'll make her even more aware of how weak she feels right now. He's not looking for that. He won't treat her any differently.]
Yeah. I need to make sure no one gets left behind. [Curse marks on his face, wounds— actually, it looks as though his wounds aren't really there, any more. The most recent ones are nearly closed up, too. He still looks so sick, though.]
I'll meet up with you back in the town, after we've all had enough time to rest.
no subject
[ smart ass. she can tell he's just doing it on purpose too, so she doesn't feel bad for snapping at someone this time around. ]
Go off then. ...And thank you.
