ou wake in knee-deep water, cold as ice and stagnant, in a space that is far too echoey and spacious. It feels like a massive cave, but looking up... there's only one small, circular opening that shows grey sky and shines any sort of light. It looks like a long trip upwards, a small cylinder with walls of brick that's just a little too high to reach, even when jumping. Getting out is probably going to be a bit of a task, especially considering the water is more than cold enough to make limbs go numb. The dark makes it impossible to see much further, but the space seems large, all filled with water, but with no other way out, stone walls the only thing for an intrepid explorer to find. But most importantly of all... you're not alone. Welcome to Awash's first intro log, everyone! Please review the FAQ and rules before playing. Characters have all woken at the bottom of the well in the middle of the town (which seems a lot bigger on the inside, somehow), and it looks like they'll have to put in some work to get out. Once out, they'll be free to explore the various locations the Town has to offer at will. Just try not to die on any of the far-too-rickety walkways. [That piano definitely sits there. Dauntingly. Watching. Etc. John on the other hand doesn't seem too put out by the loss of his laptop but all it's really doing is proving that the device belongs to him.]

I am pretty sure this is my piano? Like from my actual house. It looks exactly the same and I am just as confused as you are. [Jade's not even here to shrink and expand it so what the fuck.] How many houses have you checked so far?

No shit? [Why... a piano, it's so big and it's definitely going to break what little structural integrity this place has left. Okuyasu eyes it warily for another moment, then looks back at the laptop.

I've been in about ten, I guess. They should've just given it to me in the first place, now there's nobody here to leave a complaint with.

Makes this place even weirder doesn't it? Like we were being waited on or something. [He's Concerned about the piano's weight but not overly concerned. He's trying to check out the forum and stuff to get an idea who's around.]

Somehow I doubt that is how that works, otherwise we would have woken up somewhere but a well. [There's a gesture to another laptop though that's next to him.] I found this one here, too, but when I tried logging on it was not letting me.

Unless that would mean killing our only answer for getting out of here. [Maybe let's not do that. But okay, he's keeping the laptop in place and he's turning the screen toward Okuyasu.]

I'm not gonna kill anybody... [Just beat the shit out of them, which is fair and deserved for a stunt like this. It takes him a moment to hunt and peck his name into this keyboard and hit enter, perking up when lo!! It actually logs in. Oh boy!]

Finally! I've been at it all day, and now I can... read on this thing.

Right. Major difference. [It's hard to tell if he's serious or not but he doesn't seem to mind. Instead, he's busy watching this go down and it soon becomes glaringly obvious that this is someone who has absolutely no idea what he's really doing.]

There isn't a lot to read yet, I think, but it's something. These things don't even connect online though so I think we are stuck with the basics.

Maybe! I did not even think of that, but I guess the best way to be sure is if you see anything else that belongs to you. [Like a giant piano.] The house isn't that big. We can check if you want?

Whoa, I get something? [No one told him about this!! And the very obvious hints were, uh, not enough.] Sure, let's check it out!

[Will he zoom off for the stairs and probably wind up with his foot stuck through one? Likely so.]

[Oh my god well! That's fine! John's going to put down his computer to get up and head off to explore.]

I mean probably? I am just guessing here! Just maybe be careful? The whole place looks like it will fall apart really easily. [Which like. He should maybe be concerned about the piano instead of Okuyasu running around but it's fine.]

It'll be fine, I know what I'm doing! My house is kinda— [Kinda run down, he means to say, although perhaps not as run down as this one, since this is the moment an errant step does send his foot right through a plank of already rotted wood. Uh.

Here's Okuyasu, stumbling, and catching himself on the next couple stairs up. He is stuck in the staircase.]

[And thus John has so far watched both of his future housemates totally bite it through the wood. Great. Perfect.

On the other hand he's trying not to laugh and not doing that great of a job at it. He'll approach the staircase but he's walking slower to avoid weak floorboards and possible sinkholes as he steps up and floats over Okuyasu instead.]

Are you okay? [Please ignore his shit-eating grin. It's funny, but at least he'll help.]

I'm stuck in the step, what do you think? [He can wrench his foot out of here, but it's going to make the whole step situation worse. Give him a moment to try and wiggle his way out without, splintering either the whole step or himself. It's a process.

Also hold up!!] You can fly? No fair.

["I warned you about the stairs, bro." It goes through his head but luckily he stops it before it comes out of his mouth and instead he's just watching for a minute before he holds up his hands.]

Okay, okay stop. You are going to wreck our staircase like that. [Give him a second to squint at the area around Okuyasu's foot. He's also not addressing the flight thing yet.] Then again you might be stuck like this now.

[Address the flight thing... tell him the secret to flight. He'll find Ochako and actually ask her to float him around town this time if he really must.

Anyway, this is pretty uncomfortable in a lot of little ways, but he still manages to lean against the wall like he's handling it deftly.]

Then I hope you like flying all the way upstairs, because there's no way in hell I'm staying stuck in here for another minute. Last call for bright ideas before I do some surprise remodeling.

No? [Maybe sound more sure, John!!!] I mean it shouldn't as long as you hold still, which given you are stuck I think there isn't much of a choice. Otherwise I am out of ideas.

You're making me nervous. [Here, in the alternate reality where "nervous" and "ready to destroy a staircase" mean the same thing. He thinks about it one more time.

ennnnhhh] Okay, fine. Do... your thing?

[Look it's fine? It'll be fine and he takes a few steps up the staircase before he deploys a stupid-looking hammer.

One would think that would mean John's just going to smash the stairs but no. That would be Bad. Instead, he's approaching and turning Vrillyhoo in his hands, using the horn-shaped tip to start breaking the wood apart bit by bit around Okuyasu's leg. It won't be enough to collapse the whole stair, he hopes, but enough that he can pull himself out.]

[Whoa, a stupid-looking hammer—] Yo, what the fuck?

[No offense, it's just so goofy!! He won't resist this hammer-pickaxing, but he kind of was hoping there would be some smashing with the goofy hammer... so it's not very long that he'll actually stand here cooperatively, but at least he doesn't destroy the step when he finally just gestures for John to stop and yanks his foot out.]

Aw, these are my only pants. [Tragically torn down by his ankle, RIP pants.]

Don't ask. [Seriously, just don't ask. If he bashed shit with the goofy hammer they would probably no longer have a house, period. Once Okuyasu pulls his foot out John dismisses the hammer and there they are.]

If it makes you feel better, I am pretty sure you can look through some of the houseboats. Minato and I found someone's underwear and shirts so you could probably figure it out. [But also RIP pants.]
