Intro Log.

Ding, dong, bell,
Pussy's in the well.
Who put her in?
Little Johnny Thin.
Who pulled her out?
Little Tommy Stout.
What a naughty boy was that,
To try to drown poor pussy cat,
Who never did him any harm,
But killed all the mice in the farmer's barn.

ou wake in knee-deep water, cold as ice and stagnant, in a space that is far too echoey and spacious. It feels like a massive cave, but looking up... there's only one small, circular opening that shows grey sky and shines any sort of light.

It looks like a long trip upwards, a small cylinder with walls of brick that's just a little too high to reach, even when jumping. Getting out is probably going to be a bit of a task, especially considering the water is more than cold enough to make limbs go numb.

The dark makes it impossible to see much further, but the space seems large, all filled with water, but with no other way out, stone walls the only thing for an intrepid explorer to find.

But most importantly of all... you're not alone.

Welcome to Awash's first intro log, everyone! Please review the FAQ and rules before playing. Characters have all woken at the bottom of the well in the middle of the town (which seems a lot bigger on the inside, somehow), and it looks like they'll have to put in some work to get out.

Once out, they'll be free to explore the various locations the Town has to offer at will. Just try not to die on any of the far-too-rickety walkways.

Further information can be found here at the OOC post, and don't forget to greet your fellow players here!

He'd bumped into her while wandering the town, opting to stick with her. Mostly for her sake--pristine and delicate as she looked, it wasn't exactly safe for a young lady to wander around by herself, and he'd not forgive himself if she ran into trouble. But he stayed with her, also, because he'd rather not be alone right now, and left entirely up to his own thoughts, or else they'd run away from him and leave him with nothing but worries and anxieties.

By this point, he'd picked up a mostly-empty toolbox from some broken down store or another, packed a few other supplies in it, and had it hanging from the end of the bat on his shoulder as he stood by her. Ekko paused for a moment to look from the forest, back to Naminé, with raised brows.

"You sure about that one, Goldilocks?" He hefted his bat onto a more comfortable position, but a cheeky grin crawled onto his face.

"I'm game. But you'll have to carry my toolbox. I'll need both hands if we run into any kind of trouble."

Naminé hadn't expected anyone to take up the mantle of her guardian in this world. She's very grateful, of course, and she's no doubt safer for Ekko's help, but it's...strange. So selfless. Even after all this time, she's not used to the idea that someone wants to help her. But she's not surprised that there are just as many heroes and people good of heart in this world as there were in her original one.

"Oh-- of course." She gives him a small smile back, and holds out her arms to receive it. "I can do that much, at least."

I mean. you're not wrong. You...you have a valid point.

"So! I don't think I asked--where're you from?" He plopped the grey box in her arms--it couldn't have weighed more than five pounds for how scant the supplies inside were.

He paused and held the bat across his shoulders, letting his wrists dangle over either side while surveying the greyness ahead of him. There was the small feeling nagging at the back of his mind, one he knew well as that of being watched, but it was something he could shake off without much worry.

"I mean. You're wearing white, but the rest of you isn't...y'know. Black and white. Like everything else." He looked over to her from the corner of his eyes as he spoke, and reached behind him with one arm to pull an extending chain from the glowing device on his back. Nothing happened after the cord was pulled, and he said nothing else about it.

"So you're not from around here at least, I'm guessing--"

For now it was easy going--Ekko just picked the biggest path and followed it, looking at all the trees with owl-eyed caution. City streets and buildings, he knew. He liked them! They were easy to navigate and distinctive. There was nothing that really stood out in this bramble for him.

[With his large stature cutting through any thing in the way, Naminé finds it easy to keep up-- and she observes him pull the cord with mild surprise and curiosity, but when he makes no point to explain, she doesn't ask. It's none of her business, and she doesn't want to anger or offend her new companion.]

No, not at all. I'm... [Mmmm.] I'm from a place called Destiny Island. It's a beautiful island. I've seen a place that was as colorless as here, but the atmosphere is completely different. And there was at least people living there...

"An Island, huh? White sandy beaches, rolling ocean, and palm trees everywhere?"

He keeps his chin up, his brows are raised, and he's glancing around every so often at small rustles or the crackle of twigs.

He halfway pays attention to what she says--that is, for what it's worth, he's giving all the attention he can spare to her, but there's. So much more on his mind, and as they scoot along and follow the path further and further out, the gravity of his predicament peeks more and more through the numbing knowledge that he should just gather supplies and necessities, for now, and maybe get his bearings.

But then, he also didn't want to wimp out in front of a pretty girl. For some reason or another, the fact that she reminded him of a pretty flower made him even moreso unwilling to back out of his offer to escort her as far as she pleased to go. Or maybe he just wanted to make himself not think about it a little while longer.

"Sounds like a dream vacation, except ah--what about that other place? Think maybe they're connected? I mean if you got outta there, that's gotta mean there's a way to get back home from here, right? Wherever here is, anyway.

"Sssspeeeeeeakin' of--" His brows knitted as he stopped and looked behind them, then forward again.

"This uh..doesn't look like we can keep goin' without gettin' lost. I mean, in a city, I'm your guy, but this is all just lookin' the same to me, Goldilocks."

[Several good questions, and Naminé has answers for none of them. She knows of many ways it'd normally be possible to leave a world and hop to another, but she has very little at her disposal other than her sketchbook and this toolbox in her hands...so she's assuming that she'll be stuck for a while, despite how much she'd like to get back right away.

When he stops along the pathway, Naminé does as well, following his gaze and blinking.]

It does to me as well. We could try to mark the path we've gone with something, but would it be better to go back...?
