ou wake in knee-deep water, cold as ice and stagnant, in a space that is far too echoey and spacious. It feels like a massive cave, but looking up... there's only one small, circular opening that shows grey sky and shines any sort of light. It looks like a long trip upwards, a small cylinder with walls of brick that's just a little too high to reach, even when jumping. Getting out is probably going to be a bit of a task, especially considering the water is more than cold enough to make limbs go numb. The dark makes it impossible to see much further, but the space seems large, all filled with water, but with no other way out, stone walls the only thing for an intrepid explorer to find. But most importantly of all... you're not alone. Welcome to Awash's first intro log, everyone! Please review the FAQ and rules before playing. Characters have all woken at the bottom of the well in the middle of the town (which seems a lot bigger on the inside, somehow), and it looks like they'll have to put in some work to get out. Once out, they'll be free to explore the various locations the Town has to offer at will. Just try not to die on any of the far-too-rickety walkways. [There is Actual Concern on Ochako's face now, because does he not realize how close to the edge he actually is? Oh my God, he has a death wish.]

[She hurriedly dives toward him, stretching one hand out in front of her to... well, it probably looks like she's trying to give him a running push, but she's really just trying to smack some part of him before he prances right back into the mystery water. One good touch is all she needs to send him gently floating up into the air! But will she succeed??]

Huh? I can't hear you over all this water!

[You know, the water that's not moving, in case he wasn't being enough of a little shit. He stops moving backwards so fast so he can pause and cup a hand around his ear for this really cool comeback, so he's still long enough for her to get a hand on him. Huh??]

Hey, what are you— [do...ing......? Why is he getting taller, he wonders, taking a step back only to not hit ground and flail all his limbs around at once in response.] Whoa! What the hell?!

[He is, without a doubt, the rudest, most frustrating person she's run into thus far, but she still heaves a sigh of relief as she watches him thrash around in the air. And is she giving him... a slightly smug smile as she dusts her hands together? Yes. Yes, she is. How very un-hero-like.]

There! Now you're completely safe. [And her job here is done, goodb y e. Except... not really.] I'll only let you down if you promise that you won't try to do anything stupid.

[Please, it was a fun bonding experience, unlike flailing around in the air. Will he flail himself around hard enough to wind up upside down? Likely so. This is getting wilder and wilder, but he can spare a hand from flailing to point down at her.]

Does this look safe to you?! My head's gonna pop open!

[Okay, so it's mildly amusing to watch him bob around like this, but... is he okay? Is he firing on all cylinders? She doesn't want to let him down until she gets a solid promise from him, but this is a little pitiful.]

If you stay still, you won't spin around like that. Just--kind of lean to one side until you're back upright? And try to calm down.

Or: he manages to do as she says, tilting himself one way until he inertia spins back around. There's a moment where he has to lean back and forth a few times so he'll stop overshooting it before he actually gets it. He's learning.

It looks like you got the hang of it, huh? Good job!

[He even gets a light clap, because he just... he struggled so hard? He deserves at least a little bit of praise. But be that as it may, he's still a stubborn delinquent with no concern for his own safety, and she is determined to make sure he doesn't get himself seriously hurt in this greyscale town of horrors.]

Now, do you promise not to do anything dangerous if I let you down? No more trying to jump over the water?

[Can he Thug Squat while in midair? Probably not, but rest assured that he tries for a second until it makes him wobble. He'll settle for folding his arms, just to maintain the illusion that he's cool and capable.

[Obviously Not Impressed by his posturing, she tilts her head to the side and pretends to think it over for a moment.]

Probably? If it keeps you from getting hurt, I think it's worth it.

[What the heck...]

You're not my mom. [yeah, tell her!!!! god okay] Alright, fine! I'm sick of screwing around up here already.

No, I'm not. I'm a hero, and that's why I'm trying to look out for you.

[A hero-in-training, technically, but whatever. Ochako raises her hands in front of her, pressing her fingertips together to cancel her quirk--and sending him tumbling right toward the ground. Whoops? Actually, he's only like two feet off the ground, he should be fine.]

[Sticking the landing from 2 feet in the air he can do just fine, luckily, and as soon as he's back on the ground he's marching straight toward her. If this were a year ago he'd start a fight no questions asked, but now, after he comes up to frown down at her... he crosses his arms and frowns. Hm.]

Is that what the weird outfit is for? Hero cosplay?

[That was a pretty smooth recovery. She might have even been willing to tell him just how impressive it was if he didn't, you know, immediately follow it up by coming to loom right over her. What is this, some old school intimidation tactic? Pfft. She straightens her back, determined to stand her ground as she frowns right back up at him.]

It's not cosplay, and it's not weird. [Actually, why is he, the apparent King of Tacky Clothing, insulting her outfit? ...Whatever, she can puzzle that out later.] This is my actual costume, because I'm going to become a professional hero!

[pursestrings]

[Well, she gets points for not shrinking away from his thuggish intimidation looming. And if she were making somebody else float around, that ability would be kinda cool... He probably can't stay sour about it for much longer, too much effort, but it's definitely still cosplay and that's that. He shakes his head.]

If you say so, but it sounds like a cosplay club. How do I sign up to be a cosplay hero, huh?

[Her eyes narrow ever so slightly, because does he have to keep calling it cosplay? Please stop belittling her chosen profession??]

You have to train as hard as you can, pass all kinds of exams, and then earn your license. It's not something you do just for fun. Heroes put their lives on the line to help protect other people!

[pursestrings]

[Oh, exams. His facetious hopes to be a costumed superhero, dashed on the rocks.]

So you go to school for it? Y'know, that might be better than normal school...

[thriftea]

[That comment actually elicits a nervous little laugh, because... oh, if only.]

We have special hero lessons, but we still do normal school stuff, too. And the teachers are super strict.

[Understandably so? Her classmates are super rowdy. But even though he's still towering over her, he a) doesn't look like he's about to try anything and b) made her laugh, so after a moment's hesitation she offers him a tentative smile.]

Um, are your classes... really tough?

[Is he seriously a teen??]

[It sounds bad now!! Okuyasu will at least stop looming like an old school thug now, moving back so the brunt of his disappointed School Dismay can really be appreciated. Ew... school......]

Yeah! The only good thing about school is lunch and going home.

[He's not even in class with his best buddies!! It's torture.]

[Backing away and not running off to do something stupid are both good signs, so she's slowly settling right back into her normal, cheerful personality. She's not one to hold a grudge, and hopefully he's the same way.]

It can't be that bad! At least you get to see your friends every day, right? And learning new things can be fun. [Says the person ranked 13th in her class. Oh well.] Besides, wouldn't you rather be there than here?

I guess. Just looking around this place makes my head hurt. [The monochrome is screwing him up so bad, he's actively avoided thinking about the Mystery. Real talk.] And none of my friends showed up in the well, either.

[Oh, now he's done it...]

A lot of people showed up here alone, I think. But you don't have to be alone. If you make new friends, it might make this place a little bit better. [Does he feel the genuine Warmth and Goodness she's sending his way?] I'm Ochako Uraraka. What's your name?

[Oh, she's one of these types... It's not that Okuyasu has a problem with Friendship Vibes, honestly he doesn't, but he is still a Big Mean Thug.]

I'm Okuyasu Nijimura. [Is this the friendship ritual? Usually he just follows people home and says nice things to their moms.] Sorry about the cosplay thing.

Zero Gravity! [She holds out one hand, showing off the little pads on the tips of her fingers. Like lil cat paw pads...] If I touch something, I can use my quirk to make it float. Plus I can make myself float, but--

[She gets super nauseous, so nah, she's just glossing over that part.]
